    The role of socioeconomic conditions in the diet of school-age children

    Tha authors have effected a research on 236 seven, eight and nine years old school-children, in order to evaluates the incidence od soscieoeconomic conditions - inferred from paternal professions - with regard to alimentary habits. All diets of the different categoriesconsidered, resulted to be hypercaloric, hyperproteinic, hyperlipidic and moderately hyperglucidic. As regards mineral salts and vitamines, a deficiency of vit. A and a widely excessive intake of vit. C have been noticed. Furthemore, form these researches it emerges that the farmers category presents the alimentary habit closet to L.A.R.N values

    In the firstpart of the paper the Authors deal brifly: with the problem of the progressive increase of nitrates in the soil, in the superficial and grounwater, due either to the more and more frequent use of the azotic fertilizers, or to the volume increase of the industrial, human and animal wastes; with the nitrates role in the human pathology. Successively they report the results of the systematica remarks of the nitrates amounts in the drinking water of the mean Marches acqueducts. Such investigation allows to recognize quantitatively the incidence of the nitrates assimilated by means of the water compared to that ingested in toto. It also represents the indispensable introduction to state epidemic investigations about the morbidness and mortality of some morbid manifestations presumably connected to the ingestion of large quantities of such substances

    Gli AA. hanno effettuato un'indagine pilota sulle abitudini alimentari della popolazione adulta camerte durante la primavera del 1976 con un'appendice in quella del 1977. Si sono scelti i mesi primaverili come caratteristica espressione di alimentazione intermedia fra quella invernale e quella estiva. L'indagine ha permesso di rilevare alcuni grossolani errori dietetici comuni nel campione intervistato e quindi, presumibilmente, nella popolazione camerte. La dieta è risultata ipercalorica, iperlipidica ed iperproteica, e inoltre ipovitaminica e - limitatamente al campione femminile - carente di ferro

    The activation of different codes as related to age and stimulus material was studied using a same/different classification task. Two age levels (6.5 and 10.6) and two kinds of stimuli were considered. Response latencies and errors were evaluated for pairs of letters and geometrical figures, tachistoscopically presented. For both types of material same responses were given to physical identity pairs, analog identity pairs, and name identity pairs. The results show that: 1) the nature of the stimuli affects the types of codes activated where higher-order operations are required to compare the stimuli; 2) the level of accuracy as a function of age for both types of stimuli
