Marsico, G. (2017). Practice encapsulates theory while theory illuminates practice. T. Szulevicz and L. Tanggaard, Educational psychology practice. A new theoretical framework, Cultural Psychology of Education, 4, Cham, (pp. v-vii) Switzerland: Springer;
Educational Psychology is one of the cruellest frontline in contemporary psychology. It is a scientific arena overwhelmed by different social demands in our globalized society. Educational psychology is not a patchwork of practices, but an artwork where theoretical knowledge, methodological instances and culturally situated meaningful interventions (in a specific educational context) are indissolubly interwoven.Thus, educational psychology deals with both practice and theory where practices are not just a matter of actions, but they encapsulate theory (even in a non-reflective way) while theory illuminates the course of the actions and provides the general framework for understanding the human conduct. The pragmatic consultation approach proposed by Thomas Szulevicz and Lene Tanggaard in this book, seems to answer to this double bonded issue

Characterization of block copolyesters and block copolyamides, 1984
The thermal characterization of block copolyesters and block copolyamides and the solution viscosity of block copolyamides containing Kevlar blocks are discussed. The thermal analysis techniques differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetry were employed to obtain the glass transition temperature (T^), melting temperature (Tm), and the decomposition temperature (T^) of the following polymers and block copolymers: poly[oxy(2-methyl-l,3-phenylene)oxy- terephthaloyl], poly [ oxy(2-methyl-l,3-phenylene)oxyisophthaloyl ], poly [oxy- (cis,trans)-l,4-cyclohexyleneoxycarbonyl-trans-l,4-cyclohexylenecarbonyl] , poly [ oxy(cis,trans)-l,4-cyclohexyleneoxycarbonyl-trans-l,4-cyclohexylenecarbonyl- b-oxy(2-methyl-l,3-phenylene)oxyterephthaloyl ], poly [oxy(2-methyl-l,3-pheny-lene)oxyisophthaloyl-b-oxy(2-methyl-l,3-phenylene)oxyterephthaloyl ], poly [ imi- no(2-methyl-l,3-phenylene)iminoterephthaloyl] , poly[ imino-trans-1,4-cyclohexy- leneiminocarbonyl-(cis,trans)-l,4-cyclohexylenecarbonyl ], poly(imino-trans-l,2- cyclohexyleneiminocarbonyl-trans-l,4-cyclohexylenecarbonyl), poly(imino-trans- l,4-cyclohexyIeneiminocarbonyl-trans-l,4-cyclohexylenecarbonyl-b-imino-l,4- phenyleneiminoterephthaloyl), poly [imino-trans-l,4-cyclohexyleneiminocarbonyl- trans-l,4-cyclohexylenecarbonyl-b-imino(2-methyl-l,3-phenylene) iminoterephth- aloyl ], poly [ imino-trans-l,4-cyclohexyleneiminocarbonyl-(cis,trans)-l,4-cyclohexy- lenecarbonyl -b-imino(2-methyl-l ,3-phenylene)iminoterephthaloyl ], poly [ imino- trans-l,2-cyclohexyleneiminocarbonyl-trans-l,4-cyclohexylenecarbonyl-b-imino-l,4- phenyJeneiminoterephthaloyl] and poly [imino(2-methyl-l,3-phenylene)iminotere- phthaloyl-b-imino-l,4-phenyleneiminoterephthaloyl]. Using the intrinsic viscosities of solutions of poly(imino-l,4-phenylene- iminoterephthaloyl) and the published values of K and a in the Mark-Houwink equation, molecular weights were calculated for several samples

Features that contribute to the usefulness of low-fidelity models for surgical skills training
For practical, ethical and economic reasons, veterinary surgical education is becoming increasingly dependent on models for training. The limited availability and high cost of commercially produced surgical models has increased the need for useful, low-cost alternatives. For this reason, a number of models were developed to be used in a basic surgical skills course for veterinary students. The models were low fidelity, having limited resemblance to real animals. The aim of the present study was to describe the students' learning experience with the models and to report their perception of the usefulness of the models in applying the trained skills to live animal surgery. One hundred and forty-six veterinary fourth-year students evaluated the models on a four-point Likert scale. Of these, 26 additionally participated in individual semistructured interviews. The survey results showed that 75 per cent of the students rated the models ‘useful’/'very useful'. Interviews revealed that tactile, dimensional, visual, situational and emotional features are important to students' perception of a successful translation of skills from models to live animal. In conclusion, low-fidelity models are useful educational tools in preparation for live animal surgery. However, there are specific features to take into account when developing models in order for students to perceive them as useful
Returning culture to peacebuilding : contesting the liberal peace in Sierra Leone
This thesis investigates the advantages and limitations of applying culture to the analysis of violent conflict and peacebuilding, with a particular focus on liberal peacebuilding in Sierra Leone. While fully aware of the critique of the concept of culture in terms of its uses for the production of difference and ‘otherness,’ it also seeks to respond to the critique of liberal peacebuilding on the account of its low sensitivity towards local culture, which allegedly undermines the peace effort. After a careful examination of the terms of discussion about culture enabled by theoretical approaches to conflict in Chapter 2, the thesis presents a theoretical framework for the analysis of cultural aspects of conflict and peace based on the processes and effects of meaning-generation (Chapter 3), developing the conceptual apparatus and vocabulary for the subsequent empirical study. Instead of bracketing out the recursive nature of cultural theorising, the developed approach embraces the recursive dynamics which arise as a result of cultural ‘embeddedness’ of the analyst and the processes which s/he seeks to elucidate, mirroring similar dynamics in the cultural production of meaning and knowledge. The framework of ‘embedded cultural enquiry’ is then used to analyse the practices of liberal peacebuilding as a particular culture, which shapes the interaction of the liberal peace with its ‘subjects’ and critics as well as framing its reception of the cultural problematic generally (Chapter 4). The application of the analytical framework to the case study investigates the interaction between the liberal peace and ‘local culture,’ offering an alternative reading of the conflict and peace process in Sierra Leone (Chapter 5). The study concludes that a greater attention to cultural meaning-making offers a largely untapped potential for peacebuilding, although any decisions with regard to its deployment will inevitably be made from within an inherently biased cultural perspective
