Collaborative Reformation of Curricula on Resilience Management with Intelligent Systems in Open Source and Augmented Reality
simulimpresa, virtual RESINT project promoted the cooperation and innovation among European Higher Education Institutes (HEI), Government, Associations and Business partners on resilience management topics.
In particular new methodologies and didactical tools for the education to the resilience management using augmented reality and Intelligent Computer Learning Systems in open source have been discussed among Consortium meetings and they will be tested and implemented.
This has strengthened the entrepreneurial skills and attitudes of teachers and students by implementing innovative teaching in resilience management in cooperation with Business partners and Associations. To this purpose RESINT enforced the mobility by involving members of Associations and Business partners in teaching resilience management topics, ensuring a strict connection between academia and business.
The project was addressed to public managers, students, clients, users, designers, economists, contractors, maintenance engineers, building material manufacturers, suppliers, financing institutions, media, local government, state and state organisations and the academic, business, research organizations
Innovating the didactical methodologies applied in Universities through Second Life and Practice Firm: case study
The paper analyses and discusses Second Life and Practice Firm as two innovative methodologies used in education considering the recent experiences carried out by Bologna University - Forlì School of Economics, Management and Statistics.
Although fast advancements in ICTs frontier for teaching and learning and their criticisms, Higher Education Institutions increasingly used Second Life and Practice firm to test new didactical methodologies.
All these topics will be discussed by analysing the experiences in progress carried out by Bologna University - Forlì School of Economics, Management and Statistics in the usage of Second Life, started in 2008, and of Practice Firm through which Perting, the first simulated firm established in an Italian University, operates in consulting services and ICT goods trade.
The research question refers to: how we can connect Practice Firm and Second Life in the learning transfer of knowledge, capacities and skills?
The paper outlines the main features and implications of these didactical methodologies and how they can be connected for improving the educational process undertaken by Universities
Resilience Management and Renewable Energy Processes
The book examines a wide range of research fields that characterize the resilience management and its connections with the renewable energy processes. It contains a set of papers focusing on themes of growing interest in Management, Resilience, Energy, Education and Engineering.
Authors of several Countries as well as theoretical and practical background explored their issues with various lenses of investigation concerning criticisms and opportunities. Therefore this book, through a multidisciplinary approach, provides a good source of reference for professors, researchers, students and professionals in a perspective of knowledge - building community
The networking in the start up of SMEs for the development of local system. The role of Tourism Enterprises
In the past there was a huge debate about the adequacy of initiatives to improve the entrepreneurial skills and, as immediate result, to increase the employment.
The main target in these interventions was concerning the SMEs as a business dimension that can ensure a dissemination of employment and a stability of local systems and of the countries considered as a whole.
The paper wants to discuss these theories and to analyse a not traditional perspective based on Networking, Pull Approach and Commitment in the enterprise creation. The paper also details an organizational model of entrepreneurial start up based on the enforcement of ties with customers and suppliers.
When this perspective was applied to the subject of SMEs creation two main approaches were examined: the push approach in which the SMEs start up was considered up to the financial resources, the clustering of resources to produce the big bang of relationships with the environment, that are at the basis of a sustainable business success.
The pull approach links the main reason of enterprises start up to the commitment and to the progressive selection of business ties with customers and suppliers with the objective to consolidate business relationships.
The criticism on Push approach and its low Effectiveness lead to the consideration of Networking strategy in business start up mainly connected to the initial big bang of relationships realized at the beginning of the entrepreneurial trial, just after the receiving of the commitment. These ties in next period will be submitted to a selection process for the creation of continuous and stable business relation.
The Networking approach will increase the value of Tourism and connected activities in the development of the local systems particularly as it concerns the Business Tourism that needs specific tools and methodologies
Network analysis for performance control in the governance of interconnected local transport companies
This paper discusses a network-analysis approach to the performance control of integrated built-environment systems based on efficiency, effectiveness, and adequacy. We apply this perspective to the governance of systems of local transport companies in built environments, which are frequently organized as networks. To this end, we propose a multi-dimensional grid of first- and second-order ties to locate network units and individuate the adequacy or appropriateness of network structures for performance control. In this field, issues connected to transport systems such as sustainability play a crucial role in defining structures and processes of network performance control. We empirically examine a pilot case of local public transport companies in the Forlì-Cesena area (Italy), testing network adequacy and giving evidence for the optimal localization of governance among units dedicated to providing transport services. Our results also support the hypothesis that, although structural centralization was ostensibly oriented towards increasing governance, the structure actually devolved into decentralized control at the periphery of the network, diminishing the effectiveness of initiatives
Beyond the social network analysis in the study of project networks
The purpose of the research is testing a multidimensional model for network analysis that seems being more adequate than Social Network Analysis (SNA), in the study of networks from an organizational point of view.
On this purpose, after examining the potentialities and limits of SNA and the theoretical background, the model has been applied to the analysis of three project networks comparing the results to those obtained in some basic typologies of network
Risk and resilience management in cultural heritage
Objectives. To verify the organisational strategies for the risk and resilience management after catastrophic events. The question is: which strategical approaches can be applied to cultural heritage for disasters risk management and for the resilience of damaged or destroyed heritage ?
Methodology. Analysis of main existing approaches and verification of their adequacy to the specific field that from the recovering of the previous situation to catastrophic events like earthquakes, tsunamis or floods, today it is extending to historical buildings, monuments and museums destruction as the consequence of iconoclastic positions and movements.
Findings. The paper presents and discusses two strategic organisational approaches, of Clustering and Networking, addressed to face catastrophic events in the field of cultural heritage relating the strategy to the evolution grade of institutions dedicated to cultural heritage.
Research limits. The fast evolution of the context and of the cases number in which verifying the proposed approaches.
Practical implications. Adjustment of intervention strategies to the dimensions of the phenomenon and to the evolution of institutions operating in the field of cultural heritage in case of catastrophes intentionally produced by mankind.
Originality of the study. As there still are no models of risk and resilience management in cultural heritage with regard to disasters intentionally produced by mankind, the paper provides a theoretical frame for the creation and verification of possible models applicable to cultural heritage
