Double parton scattering, diffraction and effective cross section.
The rates of multiparton collisions in high energy hadronic interactions provide information on the typical transverse distances between partons in the hadron structure. The different configurations of the hadron in transverse space are, on the other hand, at the origin of hadron diffraction. The relation between the two phenomena is explored in an eikonal model of hadronic interactions
Relevance Of Scale Breaking Terms In Large P(t) Calorimeter Measurements
We discuss the role of multiple parton scattering subprocesses in the context of large-calorimeter experiments on large-p T jet production in hadronic collisions. We find that these processes can give appreciable effects even at the largest presently observed transverse energies
Large P(t) Jet Production On Nuclei
Large-p T jet production on nuclei is studied in the frame-work of the hard-scattering parton model including multiple-scattering corrections. Attention is paid to the possibility of multijet contamination to single-jet events. This phenomenon is due to the experimental definition of jet and is proved to explain the bulk of the anomalous nuclear enhancement observed experimentally. The possibility of getting deeper insight into the incoming-hadron structure is indicated
Multiparton correlations and "exclusive"cross sections
Abstract: In addition to the inclusive cross sections discussed within the QCD-parton model, in the regime of multiple parton interactions, different and more exclusive cross sections become experimentally viable and may be suitably measured. Indeed, in its study of double parton collisions, the quantity measured by the CDF was an "exclusive" rather than an inclusive cross section. The nonperturbative input to the "exclusive" cross sections is different with respect to the nonperturbative input of the inclusive cross sections and involves correlation terms of the hadron structure already at the level of single parton collisions. The matter is discussed in details keeping explicitly into account the effects of double and of triple parton collisions
