Figura o immagine?
Contemplazione dell’altro.
Families in Ancient Egypt: The Complex Situation of the Aga Khan Necropolis at Aswan
The aim of this presentation concerns the complex situation found inside the tombs of the necropolis of Aga Khan located on the west bank of the Nile, opposite to the modern city of Aswan, in Egypt. The joint mission EIMAWA (Egyptian Italian Mission at west Aswan) has been working on the necropolis since 2018.
In particular, this talk is intended to draw attention to two hypogeal tombs, AGH026 and AGH032, dated to the Greco-Roman period and excavated during the 2019 and 2021 campaigns. Tomb AGH026 contains two chambers of different sizes, whereas tomb AGH032 is divided into four different chambers. A distinctive feature of both tombs is the presence of various objects and commingled human remains both mummified and skeletonized.
To better understand this complex situation, the archaeological study was combined with anthropological analyses, carried out in situ. Minimum number of individuals were estimated, and biological profiles were drawn up from the osteological remains. In addition, the tombs are also currently being studied through interdisciplinary activities with different specialists to achieve a more comprehensive study.
One of the most important findings is the presence of a high number of subadults and their different positions within the tombs. In particular, tomb AGH026 revealed the remains of two children, each placed under the legs of two adult mummies. We explore the possibility that this represents two families laid in the same room. Another possible family was found in the smaller room of the tomb. Tomb AGH032 also shows a heterogeneous situation with the presence of subadults deposited together with adults.
This presentation will show how the interdisciplinary investigation in EIMAWA can provide more information on the relationships between the individuals of the Aga Khan necropolis
Per una buona psicoanalisi dell’arte: Vygostskij e il Mosè di Freud
The aim of this article is to show that Vygotskijan and Freudian positions on the psychological analysis of art move from a similar conception of art and of human mind. To demonstrate our thesis we have substantially used two works: Vygostkij’s Psychology of art and Freud’s Moses of Michelangelo. We consider that, in spite of the critic that Vygostkij makes against the psychoanalytic approach to the products of art, probably for historic reasons, the importance that he gives to the notion of form, of social context and of conscious factors in artistic creations is the same that Freud gives in his applied psychoanalysis, and this is clear in the essay on Moses. In particular, if we concentrate on the Freudian notion of evenly-suspended attention (FREUD 1912), we can see that what psychoanalyst does when he studies an artistic object is, first: considering its form and its details because only by the form is possible to conduct an analysis. Second: watching at the artist’s social context to understand social reasons of that form. Third: discovering universal and often opposed feelings that the form could amplify inside a particular society and inside the spectator in general. All of this, besides, allow us to show that only a particular conception of the specificities of human mind and human language can consider the place of art in human specie and his strict connection with his psychology

Electrospun hybrid microfibers for desiccant cooling/air dehumidification
The aim of this work was to assess the efficiency and suitability of hybrid adsorbent microfibers, produced by the electrospinning technique, in open-cycle adsorption applications, such as desiccant cooling, air dehumidification/humidification and heat storage, requiring high water adsorption capacity and high stability at high relative humidity, up to 80 %. Specifically, silica gel (SG) and magnesium sulfate (MS) as adsorbents and polyacrylonitrile (PAN) as polymer carrier, were used to prepare the hybrid microfibers at different concentrations of adsorbents and tested under isothermal conditions (50 °C) with relative humidity increasing from 0 % to 90 %. Characterization included morphological, structural, and thermal analyses, as well as measurement of ad/desorption isotherms and cyclic hydrothermal stability. The adsorption performances of the SG microfibers were comparable to that of the pure adsorbent: the microfibers with 50 w% silica gel showed a water absorption of 26.1 w% at 80 % relative humidity and T = 50 °C, which was in agreement with the content of SG. Under the same conditions, PAN microfibers with 50 w% MS achieved a water absorption of 42.7 w%. The dispersion of MS crystals in the microfibers improved the stability of the salt to hydration, allowing for a significant enhancement in the adsorption performance of magnesium sulfate
PSYCHOLOGISTS AND CLIENTS IN ONLINE INTERVENTIONS: NEW TOOLS AND RESOURCES TO PROMOTE WELL-BEING
The use of online interventions in psychological care has been increasing over the past ten years, providing professionals and clients with innovative and flexible solutions, opening new possibilities of practice.
With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the worldwide panorama of psychological interventions faced a forced transition to the online setting to adapt to the challenges and disruptions posed by such unprecedented situation. The pandemic acted as an evolutionary catalyst in Italy and worldwide, enabling the extensive experience of online psychological interventions, allowing for the identification of resources and difficulties connected, opening new possibilities to determine an important step forward in this area.
In this sense, such unprecedented situation allowed both psychologists and clients to change their attitudes and perspectives on online interventions by extensively experiencing it.
Starting from the opportunity of evolution provided by this unprecedented circumstances, the present thesis investigated the use of online interventions in psychological care with a contested perspective focused on the current challenges.
First, by exploring the experiences of Italian psychologists’ and psychotherapists’ with online interventions, Study 1 investigated their experiences during the pandemic, trying to gain a comprehensive understanding of their needs and concerns, with a specific focus on the strategies they used to create and maintain a satisfactory therapeutic relationship with their clients online.
Second, by exploring the impact of the pandemic on the mental health and well-being of the vulnerable population of young adults, Study 2 investigated the current challenges and needs to be addressed in psychological care.
Third, by developing and carrying out an intervention study to tackle the current challenges in vulnerable populations, Study 3 investigated the perspectives of clients involved in a blended pilot intervention (online and offline) aimed at supporting their well-being and social connectedness, while testing its feasibility and relevance.
Comprehensively discussed the results of the present thesis provide knowledge about the specific situation lived through the pandemic in the psychological area and remark the importance of developing and elaborating further a critical approach towards the use of online interventions in psychological care. A perspective that represents a fundamental step to respond to the current challenges and to work back-to-back with professionals, clients and institutions, tackling the contemporary and future challenges of mental health and well-being in the general population
Oligoethylene ester derivatives of ketoprofen, naproxen and diclofenac as oral prodrugs: a pharmacological evaluation
Polyoxyethylene esters of ketoprofen (la-e), naproxen (2a-e) and diclofenac (3a-e) were tested in vitro to determine their stability in pH 7.4 phosphate buffer and in simulated gastric fluid (pH 2.0 buffer) and their susceptibility in undergoing enzymatic cleavage in human plasma. Furthermore their in vivo antiinflammatory and analgesic activity and GI toxicity were evaluated in rodents. All the prodrugs showed a good stability both in pH 7.4 phosphate buffer and in pH 2.0 buffer. They were readily hydrolyzed by human plasma and, for each group of prodrugs, no significant difference in hydrolysis rate was observed as the length of the oligoethylene chain increased. Esters la-e, 2a-e and 3a-e showed an anti-inflammatory activity (expressed as inhibition percent of carrageenan-induced edema in the rat) similar to that of their respective parent drug although at higher doses. The results obtained in the writhing test in mice demonstrated that all the prodrugs tested exhibited, following acute administration, a good analgesic effect. Furthermore these esters were significantly less irritating to the gastric mucosa, although administered at doses higher than the respective parent drug
