La sovraesposizione digitale dei minori. Un approccio multidimensionale al fenomeno dello sharenting.

    No full text

Using, in the frame of Grounded Theory, the concepts of moral panic, risk and moral regulation, this study analyzes from a sociological point of view the social construction of ‘paedophilia problem’. Beginning from a sensational case of ritual abuse, this study examines the role of moral entrepreneurs, interest groups and media in constructing the ‘paedophilia social problem’ and in the emersion of the related moral panics. After a theoretical discussion on the sociology of moral panic and its in progress reconceptualization, the study analyzes the results of 49 in-depth interviews to social actors involved in the case, the participant observation of the community where the case emerged, the participant observation of eight public events organized by interest groups, newspaper articles and television programs about the case. In the conclusions I discuss the role of risk society and moralization processes in constructing the paedophilia problem, and in particular the ritual abuse problem. Furthermore, I attempt to reconceptualize some categories of the classical models of moral panic sociology.

The research study investigates some future-oriented scenarios for the family in Italy in ten years through the point of view of family experts and stakeholders (e.g., policy makers, politicians, family psychotherapists, social workers, teachers). The first stage of the study concerned the selection of some key social issues for the future of the family through seven focus groups that involved forty-five experts and stakeholders. The second stage involved thirty-two experts in a Delphi method (conducted in four subsequent sessions) that investigated those specific social issues (e.g., work-family balance, intergenerational relationships and communication, intergenerational solidarity, kinship networks, housing, policies and services for the family). The Delphi method pointed out the evolution and the relevance of these specific issues in ten years. Findings highlight some configurations of evolution and relevance with regard to these family social issues and offer future-oriented scenario that are interpreted through a social statistical and a sociological approach. This paper focuses on some findings of the focus groups. In particular, it deepens the evolution in ten years of the intergenerational relationships and communication, the relationships between families with different cultural and ethnic origins and the expectations towards policies and services for the family. These findings are discussed with the Delphi method results and are compared to the recent sociological literature on the family and its future

The emergent practice of sharing textual and audiovisual contents concerning underage children online by their parents or guardians, also known as sharenting, is part of emerging digital cultures, which are enabled by affordances provided by new media technologies. Based on data from a passive virtual ethnography of Facebook communities, this paper analyses the sharenting practices of parents involved in judicial litigations. While contributing to wider debates on doing and displaying family and controversial sharenting activities, results of this article show how sharenting is addressed in online communities by administrators and other users; how the privacy vs openness paradox about sharing information and contents concerning children’s involvement in judicial litigations is negotiated by parents and administrators; and how online and offline parenting cultures affect sharenting as a practice

Online sharenting: identifying existing vulnerabilities and demystifying media reported crime risks

Sharenting – the digital sharing of sensitive information of minors by parents or guardians – has not yet been investigated from a criminological perspective. However, there are reported concerns regarding its criminogenic potential amidst fast-growing media interest in sharenting practices, particularly in relation to the perceived crime risks. This article offers an exploratory analysis of cases where such practices led to the victimisation of minors, evidencing the gap between media reports about crime risks and actual victimisation. The paper also demonstrates that sharenting is a more complex phenomenon than generally recognised. By exploring these issues, the paper advances criminological understanding of the practice and demonstrates the divergences between media-reported crime risks and victimisation associated with sharenting. Although the paper highlights media exaggerations of such crime victimisation which can heighten public fear and anxiety, the article also provides new insights on the nature of actual victimisation, to raise awareness and aid preventative intervention

Future Scenarios and Support Interventions for the Family: Involving Expert's Participation though a Mixed-Method Research Study

From a recent Delphi survey on the possible scenarios that will involve the family in the next ten years, some situations emerged, judged by the experts as particularly relevant, concerning the growing conditioning due to the professional commitments for women in organizing family life, the greater tendency of young adults living to their parents and the intensity of solidarity networks between generations. On the basis of some focus groups, eight possible intervention proposals have been identified to deal with any difficulties related to the emerged scenario and, in particular, to support women and families. In order to rank them according to their efficacy and feasibility, the multi-criteria decision-making technique Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) will be applied. Key words: Family studies, Future studies, Delphi, AHP, scenario research methodolog
