Equivariant Schubert Calculus
We describe T -equivariant Schubert calculus on G(k, n), T being an n-dimensio- nal torus, through derivations on the exterior algebra of a free A-module of rank n, where A is the T-equivariant cohomology of a point. In particular, T-equivariant Pieri's formulas are determined, answering a question raised by Lakshmibai, Raghavan and Sankaran (Equivariant Gi- ambelli and determinantal restriction formulas for the Grassmannian, Pure Appl. Newton Binomial Formulas in Schubert Calculus
One proves Newton's binomial formulas for Schubert Calculus to determine numbers of base point free linear series on the projective line with prescribed ramification divisor supported at points in general position. The formulas are a consequence of the formulation of a Schubert Calculus on a Grassmann Algebr
Schubert Eisenstein series and Poisson summation for Schubert varieties
The first author and Bump defined Schubert Eisenstein series by restricting the summation in a degenerate Eisenstein series to a particular Schubert variety. In the case of over they proved that these Schubert Eisenstein series have meromorphic continuations in all parameters and conjectured the same is true in general. We revisit their conjecture and relate it to the program of Braverman, Kazhdan, Lafforgue, Ngô, and Sakellaridis aimed at establishing generalizations of the Poisson summation formula. We prove the Poisson summation formula for certain schemes closely related to Schubert varieties and use it to refine and establish the conjecture of the first author and Bump in many cases.Accepted by the American Journal of Mathematics. A -generalization for Schubert Representatives of the Affine Grassmannian
We introduce two families of symmetric functions with an extra parameter that specialize to Schubert representatives for cohomology and homology of the affine Grassmannian when . The families are defined by a statistic on combinatorial objects associated to the type- affine Weyl group and their transition matrix with Hall-Littlewood polynomials is -positive. We conjecture that one family is the set of -atoms.

Gorenstein toric Schubert varieties in Grassmannians
A partial flag variety is a smooth projective homogeneous variety admitting
an action of a maximal torus . Schubert varieties are -invariant
subvarieties of the partial flag varieties. We study toric Schubert varieties
in Grassmannian varieties with respect to the action of the torus . Indeed,
we present an explicit description of the fan of a Gorenstein toric Schubert
variety in a Grassmannian, and we prove that any Gorenstein toric Schubert
variety in a Grassmannian variety is Fano
Measuring industry-science links through inventor-author relations: A profiling method
In this pilot study we examine the performance of text-based profiling in recovering a set of validated inventor-author links. In a first step we match patents and publications solely based on their similarity in content. Next, we compare inventor and author names on the highest ranked matches for the occurrence of name matches. Finally, we compare these candidate matches with the names listed in a validated set of inventor-author names. Our text-based profile methodology performs significantly better than a random matching of patents and publications, suggesting that text-based profiling is a valuable complementary tool to the name searches used in previous studies.innovation; industry-science links; text-based profiling;

Schubert's mature operas: an analytical study
This thesis examines four of Franz Schubert's complete operas: Die Zwillingsbrűder D.647, Alfonso und Estrella D.732, Die Verschworenen D.787, and Fierrabras D.796. These works date from the period of 1818-1823, sometimes referred to as Schubert's 'years of crisis'. While this period saw many changes in the composer's personal situation, it is commonly thought that he underwent a process of creative re-evaluation during these years. This was also the period of Schubert's life during which he was most seriously engaged in writing music for the stage. Thus, I argue in this thesis that it is possible to understand these operas as key works within Schubert's stylistic development. Chapter 2 of this thesis studies Adorno's 1928 critique of Schubert and draws out common themes in critical writings about the composer to do with coherence, temporality and tone. These themes are then grounded in various different types of analytical observations about Schubert's emergent style. Chapter 3 examines selected numbers from the four mature operas. Through analysing these works, we find that Schubert's developing approach to form, rhythm, musical 'signs' and other structural devices is evident. Innovations in each of these fields are understood as responses to the various dramatic challenges offered by each of the libretti. Chapter 4 summarises the conclusions of our study of the operas and suggests some possibilities for interpretation of other works which are raised by these analyses
