Letter from [William] J. Fujimoto, from the stockade, to Mr. [Raymond R.] Best, Project Director, February 23, 1944
Describes Fujimoto's imprisonment, for 34 days at the time of writing; Fujimoto states that the cause for his arrest has never been made clear, especially given that he has "never entertained radical ideas" and has been cooperative with authorities, and requests a meeting with Best to review his case. The Willard Schmidt collection, documents some of the administrative duties of Willard Schmidt, the Chief of Internal Security for the War Relocation Authority and the Tule Lake incarceration/segregation camp. This collection contains administrative records and photos documenting the Tule Lake camp, the largest incarceration camp with a peak population of 18,789 and with the most turbulent history. In 1943, the camp was turned into a segregation center to house "disloyal" Japanese Americans relocated from other camps based on their answers to a confusing loyalty questionnaire. The camp endured martial law from November 1943- Jan 1944 after escalating protests and unrest. The hostile environment of the camp lead to many incarcerees renouncing their American citizenship upon the end of incarceration, a process which took 14 years to reverse if they did not wish to be deported to Japan
febre persistente, volumosa tumefacção cervical e alteração do estado geral.
Commodity Content in a General Input-Output Model
This technical paper provides a definition of ‘commodity content’ in extended von Neumann–
Morishima models of production. Our definition admits as special cases the classical definition of
‘labour values’ in Leontief models, as well as Morishima’s definition of ‘optimal values’ in a von
Neumann model. Proper joint production, heterogeneous labour, durable consumption goods, household
activities and disposal processes are all allowed for. We also propose a tentative mathematical
criterion for defining bads and for distinguishing between unskilled and skilled labour
COMMODITY CONTENT IN A GENERAL INPUT-OUTPUT MODEL: A REPLY TO BELLINO, YOSHIHARA AND VENEZIANI
Frecuentemente simula linfadenitis tuberculosa, linfoma maligno, lupus eritematoso sistémico y muchas otras condiciones benignas y malignas.
Immunohistochemical localization of interferon-gamma in normal human ovary
There is increasing evidence that cytokines are important intraovarian non-steroidal regulators. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the presence in the human ovary of interferon (IFN)-gamma, a cytokine produced by T lymphocytes after mitogenic or antigenic stimulation. Very low levels of IFN-gamma (0.025-0.057 IU/ml) were found in follicular fluid of large spontaneously maturing follicles, in the ovarian vein (< 0.01-0.079 IU/ml) or peripheral blood (< 0.01-0.06 IU/ml). The avidin-biotin immunocytochemical technique, with appropriate monoclonal antibodies, was used to localize IFN-gamma-positive cells, human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-DR molecules, activated T cells, T helper/inducer cells and T cytotoxic/suppressor cells. IFN-gamma-positive cells were only detected in preovulatory follicles, associated with the follicular basal lamina, thecal vessels and interstitial tissue. In the same large follicles very few T helper/inducer cells were detected, but a high proportion of T lymphocytes expressed the CD8 phenotype in the theca, interstitial tissue and follicular cavity. No IFN-gamma-positive cells were observed in preantral and small antral follicles. The results indicate that the human ovary contains immunoreactive IFN-gamma, suggesting that the cytokine plays a paracrine role in human ovarian function
Nonlinear input-normal realizations based on the differential eigenstructure of hankel operators
This paper investigates the differential eigenstructure of Hankel operators for nonlinear systems. First, it is proven that the variational system and the Hamiltonian extension with extended input and output spaces can be interpreted as the Gâteaux differential and its adjoint of a dynamical input-output system, respectively. Second, the Gâteaux differential is utilized to clarify the main result the differential eigenstructure of the nonlinear Hankel operator which is closely related to the Hankel norm of the original system. Third, a new characterization of the nonlinear extension of Hankel singular values are given based on the differential eigenstructure. Finally, a balancing procedure to obtain a new input-normal/output-diagonal realization is derived. The results in this paper thus provide new insights to the realization and balancing theory for nonlinear systems.
Clonal T-cell proliferations occasionally occur in Kikuchi–Fujimoto disease
Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (KFD) is a benign self-limiting disorder that frequently leads to swelling of cervical lymph nodes in young women. It has a characteristic histologic appearance with sharply demarcated foci containing apoptotic debris, histiocytes, and proliferating large T-cells. Since in the past years, core needle biopsies have been increasingly used for diagnostic work-up, a small biopsy of the pathognomonic proliferating T-cell foci may lead to misinterpretation as a large T-cell neoplasia. The aim of the present study therefore was to analyze how frequently clonal T-cell receptor (TCR) amplificates may be obtained in KFD using a commonly used TCR gamma rearrangement clonality assay. In 88 KFD cases, TCR gamma clonality assays could be successfully applied. Clonal peaks of TCR gamma in front of a polyclonal background were observed in 15 cases (18%). The investigated clinical parameters (age, gender, extent of infiltration of the lymph node, percentage of proliferative compart-ment) did not differ between patients with detectable TCR gamma clones from those patients who had polyclonal TCR gamma results
