For more than two decades, there has been a growing of interest in fast simulation techniques for estimating probabilities of rare events in queuing networks. Importance sampling is a variance reduction method for simulating rare events. The present paper carries out strict deadlines to the paper by Dupuis et al for a two node tandem network with feedback whose arrival and service rates are modulated by an exogenous finite state Markov process. We derive a closed form solution for the probability of missing deadlines. Then we have employed the results to an importance sampling technique to estimate the probability of total population overflow which is a rare event. We have also shown that the probability of this rare event may be affected by various deadline values.Importance Sampling, Queuing Network, Rare Event, Markov Process, Deadline

CarSaaf is an entrepreneurial venture in Karachi that can be called a Blue Ocean venture on the basis of Create and not compete, that is the true spirit of Blue Ocean Strategy. It differentiated itself with the low cost and created a new market avoiding competing with the run of a mill car wash ventures in Karachi. The value proposition of CarSaaf in comparison to typical car wash ventures are compared through the tool of Buyer Utility Map. The Buyer Utility map is used to study the car wash sector in Karachi, and to identify the consumer pain points of a particular sector. This case, therefore, tends to identify the pain points of consumers in the typical car wash sector of Pakistan, that are addressed by the CarSaaf to introduce a new venture based on providing the solutions through addressing the pain points and to understand the differentiation strategy of CarSaaf, through Buyer Utility Map tool. Utilizing the Buyer Utility Map tool eight pain points of consumers were identified in the car wash industry, that was addressed by CarSaaf for Value Innovation

Optimizing construction of scheduled data flow graph for on-line testability

    Get PDF
The objective of this work is to develop a new methodology for behavioural synthesis using a flow of synthesis, better suited to the scheduling of independent calculations and non-concurrent online testing. The traditional behavioural synthesis process can be defined as the compilation of an algorithmic specification into an architecture composed of a data path and a controller. This stream of synthesis generally involves scheduling, resource allocation, generation of the data path and controller synthesis. Experiments showed that optimization started at the high level synthesis improves the performance of the result, yet the current tools do not offer synthesis optimizations that from the RTL level. This justifies the development of an optimization methodology which takes effect from the behavioural specification and accompanying the synthesis process in its various stages. In this paper we propose the use of algebraic properties (commutativity, associativity and distributivity) to transform readable mathematical formulas of algorithmic specifications into mathematical formulas evaluated efficiently. This will effectively reduce the execution time of scheduling calculations and increase the possibilities of testability

Based on the analysis of data, the study recommended marketing strategies thatcould result in motivating the tax payer extrinsically to enhance tax morale and facilitate tax compliance

    Paradox of Credibility

    Get PDF
In an information transmission situation, a senders concern for its credibility could endow itself with an invisible power to control the detected. In this case, the sender can achieve its favored outcome without losing its credibility, which stays true even when the sender and the receiver have contradictory preferences. Therefore, the senders concern for its credibility could result in less truthful signals from the sender and worse payoffs to the receiver. This is the paradox of credibility. This paper models this paradoxical role of the senders credibility concern.Anti-Coordination Game, Credibility, Information Transmission, Hawk-Dove Game, Paradox

The magnetic graphene-based nanocomposite: An efficient anticancer delivery system

    No full text
The aim of this study is the development of an efficient anticancer drug delivery nanosystem using PEGylated graphene oxide/magnetite nanoparticles (PEG-GO/Fe3O4). The nanosystem was loaded with mitoxantrone (MTX) as a universal anticancer drug. The cytotoxicity effect of the MTX-loaded GO-PEG/Fe3O4 nanocomposite was studied against U87 MG cell line using MTT cell viablity assay. The mechanism of action, the genes contributed in apoptosis (Casp 9, and Casp 3) and survival (BcL-2, BAX) have been investigated using quantitative real time-PCR. As the results of biological assays, controlled drug release behavior of the developed nanosystem as well as the inherent physicochemical and biological characteristics of both magnetit nanoparticles and graphene nanomaterials, we envision that the GO-PEG/Fe3O4 nanocomposite may be applied as enhanced drug delivery system for various cancer therapies (e.g., brain cancer) using both chemo-and photothermal therapy methods

Mystical thoughts and rhetoric of Farghani emphatically Masharegh al-Darari

Saeed al-Din Farghani is one of the greatest and most obscure ecclesiastics of Islamic mysticism that with his sincere taste and deep understanding, Ibn Farez, the Egyptian poet (TaEye) wrote a detailed and exuberant statement. In his mystical passage, he has given Shahab al-Din Suhrawardi the ratio of his cuff and his mention. Farghani is the guardian of consciousness with full knowledge of the opinions and thoughts of mysticism and Ibn Arabi, and familiar with the ancient mystical heritage, especially the Sufism of Khorasan, who was able to write a syntax called (Masharegh al-Darari) and in this work, without the likes of many other commentators being trapped in sick-minded imagery and language games derived from the magic of proximity, he would open up a modestly manifestly new Bobby in theoretical mysticism and designed his description with a few words and sayings from Bayazid, Hallaj, Joneyd and Zo al-Noon. In this article the author tried to study Mystical thoughts and rhetoric of Farghani in two departed parts. Thoughts such as: love, lover, tactile view, the ratio of perfect man with the triples of Islam, faith and kindness, the concept of time and expansion, intimacy and effective knowledge of the right and in the language and rhetorical sector like: likeness, revelation, affirmation of poems and verses and hadiths, exquisite translations and artistic expansions

Hydraulics of flow over full-cycle cosine and rectangular sharp-crested weirs

    Get PDF
Laboratory experiments were carried out to investigate the hydraulics and sediment removal upstream of full-cycle cosine and rectangular sharp-crested weirs in free flow condition. The effects of weir geometry on mean flow and local erosion upstream of the weirs were studied for two sediment sizes of 0.7 mm and 1.2 mm. The head-discharge relationships of full-cycle cosine weirs were theoretically determined and the discharge coefficients were correlated with weir geometry for two cases of before and after sediment erosion. The proposed model showed higher discharge coefficients in full-cycle cosine weirs in comparison with rectangular sharp-crested weirs. The three-dimensional velocity profiles of full-cycle cosine and rectangular weirs were measured and velocity profiles exhibited strong three-dimensional flow in full-cycle cosine weirs. The presentation of the authors' names and (or) special characters in the title of the pdf file of the accepted manuscript may differ slightly from what is displayed on the item page.
