Full season navigation and control of ultra-compact autonomous ag-bot in GPS denied environment
This thesis describes perception and an autonomous navigation system for an ultra-lightweight ground robot in agricultural fields. The system is designed for reliable navigation under cluttered canopies using only a 2-D Hokuyo UST-10LX LiDAR and an RTK GPS as the primary sensors for navigation. Its purpose is to ensure that the robot can navigate through rows of crops without damaging the plants in narrow row-based and high-leaf-cover semi-structured crop plantations, such as corn (Zea mays), sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) and soybean (Glycine max). The fundamental contributions of this work are a GPS-INS based reliable localization system for the robot and a LiDAR-based navigation algorithm capable of rejecting outlying measurements in the point-cloud due to plants in adjacent rows, low-hanging leaf cover, or weeds. Dental implants and its use in children: A narrative review
Among the various congenital dental abnormalities in children, loss of tooth due to trauma and hypodontia are few that are most prevalent. A wide range of treatment modalities are available for these abnormalities, however, removable prosthesis is the most common treatment option to be used, but a pitfall of this method is that it may increase the residual alveolar bone resorption and other problems related to periodontal support of the remaining teeth. Dental implants, another treatment modality, are generally advocated in adults or young patients that are beyond their craniofacial growth potential. This comprehensive review will discuss the use of dental implants in normal growing patients and some special scenarios including orthodontic consideration and mini-implant use in pediatric population. This review sorted the literature in main themes of influence of growth on the usage of dental implants in children; use of dental implants in children suffering from ectodermal dysplasia; use of dental implants in traumatic dental injuries sustained in children; and for orthodontics intervention during childhood. The literature was searched using databases such as PubMed, Scopus, MEDLINE, and Google. The titles and abstracts were screened, and full text was retrieved for publications that studied the use of dental implants in children in any form of intervention. The results indicated that scientific studies have documented high functional and esthetic results in cases of prosthetic treatments on implants, min-implants in children. However, the use of implants in children is high restricted to anterior mandibular region, with most clinicians opting for growth completion before implant placements. The establishment of the mastication, speech function, and normal appearance is highly crucial for growth of the jaws and facial bones. However, isolated use of mini-implants in growing children has definitely broaden the idea of the use of implant modification in children, yet to achieve maturation
A Fast Parallel Implementation of the Wavelet Packet Best Basis Algorithm on the MP-2 for Real-Time MRI
Adaptive signal representations such as those determined by best-basis type algorithms have found extensive application in image processing, although their use in real-time applications may be limited by the complexity of the algorithm. In contrast to the wavelet transform which can be computed in O(n) time, the full wavelet packet expansion required for the standard best basis search takes O(n log n) time to compute. In the parallel world, however, both transforms take O(log n) to compute when the number of processors equal the number of data elements, making the wavelet packet expansion attractive to implement. This note describes near real-time performance obtained with a parallel implementation of best basis algorithms for Wavelet Packet bases. The platform for our implementation is a DECmpp 12000/Sx 2000, a parallel machine identical to the MasPar MP-2. On 31st December 2019, China informed local WHO office of "cases of pneumonia of unknown etiology detected in Wuhan. As of 6th May 2020, there are nearly 3.6 million cases of corona virus infection and approximately 0.25 million deaths worldwide. The real-time data regarding the actual number of cases, as it originates from the epicenter is the key to the estimation of the case fatality rate, hospitalization rates, expected timeline of arrival of contagion, and other epidemiological data. The novel virus has no available literature pertaining to its epidemiological parameters, on which experts can base their estimates and hence the challenge in planning for epidemic management. Bolstering this challenge are the reports alleging under-reporting by Chinese authorities. Alleged toned down numbers could have led to erroneously low estimates contributing to inadequate public health response globally.
