So to do maintenance and repair is to maintain the cleanliness of the cooler, the cleanliness of the sea chest filter, replace the impeller and replace a worn bearing in order to achieve a normal pressure.     Savonius turbine for the first time was founded by Sigurd Johannes Savonius in 1922. This turbine hasvertical axis and half-round shaped on each side of blades and like an “S”. This turbine aslo called as drag turbinebecause it need drag force on its blades to whirling the turbine. Many research were done to increasing theperfomance of this turbine and one of them was using deflector plate in front of the turbine. On this experiment,the method is using distance and diameter of circular cylinder variations. The turbine for this experiment usingmyring equation with n=1 for the blades shape. Dimension of the turbine is 400 mm in height and 400 mm indiameter. The diameter of circular cylinder (ds) is 16 cm and the distance (A) is 20 cm used in this experiment.The result obtained in this experiment showing that the highest value of Ct is 0,3038 at TSR 0,633 with increasedpercentage is 7,955%. The highest Cp value is 0,1924 at TSR 0,633 with increased percentage is 20,828%

    The NKL-1061 Flowline is an oil and gas distribution pipeline from the well to the collection station. Wrapping protection on one of the underground pipes in the line is peeled off and corroded so protection replacement is recommended. The pipe material used is API 5L Gr. B 4 Inch Sch 40 in diameter. The pipe is open and in direct contact with the ground. Soil conditions with pH <7 or acidic cause corrosion on the pipe surface. If corrosion is not prevented, a decrease in pipe quality occurs. Corrosion can be overcome by changing underground protection. To find out better protection, corrosion rate, lifetime and cost calculation are calculated. Corrosion rate values were obtained from API 5L grade B material test results using the ASTM G31-72 standard immersion test method. The test is done by immersing the specimen in a solution of HNO3 (nitric acid) which has a varying pH and temperature also varies. The lifetime calculation is done based on API 570 and the minimum pipe thickness calculation based on ASME B31.4. . The highest average corrosion rate is in the state of the pipe with variations in painting with an average yield of 0.13817 mm / year. Then followed by a pipe in a cathodic protection state with an average corrosion rate of 0.11262 mm / year. While the lowest corrosion rate results are in the variation of painting + wrapping protection with an average yield of 0.09769 mm / year. The highest average lifetime value is in the state of the pipe with variations in painting + wrapping with an average yield of 47.1772 years. Then followed by a pipe in a cathodic protection state with an average lifetime of 40.8399 years. While the lowest average lifetime value is in the variation of painting protection with an average yield of 33,6448 years

    In this final project, the performance of the propulsion system on the ship is analyzed SPOB.Sultan Samudera. With This is done to minimize errors in the selection or determination of gearboxesand other engines. The methods used are Engine Propeller Matching and Speed Power Predictionwhich will be compared with the sea trial report. Calculation of ship resistance is done manually usingthe Holtrop method at a speed of 10 knots, the results of engine propeller matching are used todetermine the Match Point obtained, based on the calculation of the resistance obtained by the ship\u27sresistance value Rt = 91.045 Kn. The power requirements obtained are 1658,000 HP on the 2 MainEngines used and 817,694 HP per engine based on the main engine that has been determined. Then thePropeller type is Ka 4-70 with P/Db 1.100 meters and propeller efficiency (?) 0.561, the propeller doesnot cavitate and the match point in rough hull conditions against Gearbox Ratio 7.42: 1 occurs at88.96% at 1900 rpm while at Gearbox Ratio 5: 1 rough hull conditions occurred at 290.74% at 1900rpm, then in the Speed Power Prediction conditions compared to the Sea Trial "Against the Current"at a speed of 8.8 knots, the match point was obtained at 1600 rpm at 8.1 knots, while at Gearbox Ratio5: 1 with a speed of 8.8 knots obtained a meeting point at 1160 rpm engine speed at 6.4 knots withknown Sea Trial results, so the Gearbox Ratio of 7.42: 1 is quite close to the actual data owned by thecompany with the calculations obtained

    Abstract – Corrosion is often occurred on Gresik-Semarang pipeline gas transmission project. The corrosion type is pritting or well corrosion. Pitting corrosion causes pipe cavitated. So, it becomes a disadvantageous material if there is no prevention. One method to prevent corrosion is by using protection cathodic system. The system is divided into two kinds, i.e ICCP (impressed current cathodic protection) and SACP (sacrificial anode cathodic protection) methods. The first step taken started with technical requirement continued with economical requirement. The result of both methods is then compared to find the influenced value of each method in corrosion control. The final result is ICCP method require 36 sets of TI MMO anodes, 300 m cable in length, negative as well as positive return, with economical cost of IDR 7,929,501,030. SACP method requires 4538 magnesium anodes and 144 test station boxes with economical cost of IDR 8,898,206,625. So it can be concluded that cathodic protection with ICCP method is chosen as the most efficient method to apply in Gresik-Semarang pipeline gas transmision project

    The painting is process to protect object from rusting process. In the process, many factors that were ignored properly. These factor also determine the result, quality, and ability of paint to be sticked. Based on the problem above, this riset was made to study variations in surface preparation, applicator, and thickness to know the adhesion in SS400 . Factorial experiment is used based on factorial design in 27 trials. The test uses a pull of test approves the ASTM D4541 standard. The result factor effect is 7,97% for thickness, 32,91% for surface preparation, and 59,12% for applicator. The effect of thickness is less significant on adhesion while the surface preparation and applicator. Type of surface preparation and applicator have asignificant effect. Power tool, brush, and a thickness 225µ are optimal prameters for painting

    Abstract - Corrosion are the most common problem that happens in the industry causing material quality reduction. If corrosion was not prevented from the beginning, there will be a serious loss because of leaking that affects on the decsreasing of material lifetime. One of the corrosion problem in an oil and margarine processing factory in Gresik is Internal Corrosion. Caused by a lump of crust inside the ASTM A105 pipe with 1 inch diameter with 2 years of lifetime. This research used immersion test method to determine the corrosion rate and lifetime of ASTM A105 pipe with weight loss calculation and compared NaNO2 and Na2CrO4 inhibitors. The testing used NaCl consentrat variation of 1000 ppm, 1100 ppm, 1200 ppm. Inhibitor constrentrat variation are 0 ppm, 150 ppm, 250 ppm, and 350 ppm. Test results shows that the lowest corrosion rate used 350ppm NaNO2 inhibitor with 1200 ppm NaCl consentrat with the value of 0,021817 mm/y. Meanwhile Na2CrO4 inhibitor have the lowest corrosion value of 0.023999 mm/y. For the highest inhibitor efficiency value are 350 ppm NaNO2 inhibitor on 1200 ppm NaCl consentrat woth the value of 0.537%. And the remaining life calculation for NaNO2 inhibitor are 150.73 years and 137.37 years for Na2CrO4 inhibitor. So the best corrosion protection method for ASTM A105 material are using NaNO2 inhibitor because it have the lowest corrosion rate value and much longer service life

    Pig merupakan alat bantu yang digunakan untuk membersihkan permukaan dalam pipa, tetapi semakin teknologiberkembang pig mempunyai beberapa jenis salah satunya adalah smart pig. Smart pig ini selain dapatmembersihkan permukaan dalam pipa dapat sekaligus memberi informasi keadaan permukaan dalam pipa yangsangat membantu dalam inspeksi dan perawatan system perpipaan. Selama ini masih terdapat 2 macam smart pigyaitu MLT (Magnetic Leak Test) dan UT (Ultrasonic Test). Pada tugas akhir ini, dilakukan pembuatan prototypesmart pig untuk membantu inspeksi secara visual agar mengurangi adanya kegagalan didalam sistem perpipaandan mengurangi biaya yg dikeluarkan untuk mengganti pipa yang rusak. Pembuatan smart pig ini membutuhkanbiaya Rp 11.750.000,00, dengan waktu pengerjaan kurang lebih 4 bulan. Hasil pengujian smart pig inimenunjukkan bahwa adanya perubahan kecepatan dalam melaksanakan pigging tergantung dengan kebutuhaninspeksi, pig dapat dijalankan dengan kecepatan rendah untuk hasil inspeksi yang membutuhkan ketelitian lebih,dan pig dapat dijalankan dengan kecepatan tinggi yang akan menghasilkan kekuatan dorong yg dapat membantupig untuk mendorong benda yang ditemukan didalam pipa pada saat inspeksi

    Corrosion is a decrease in the quality of metals due to chemical reactions between the metal and the surrounding compounds. The problem of corrosion was found in the pre-treatment process in the pipeline system of an industry engaged in the production of Sodium Tripolyphosphate in one area in East Java. The type of fluid that flows in this process is 32°C phosphoric acid. The temperature of the fluid is very influential on the rate of corrosion. The pre-treatment process uses 316L Stainless Steel material in the piping system. Based on these problems, the addition of inhibitors is needed as a corrosion inhibitor. There are two types of inhibitors used, namely coffee extract inhibitor and NaNO2. Beside the type of inhibitor, concentration and temperature are also varied. Potentiostat test is used to determine the corrosion rate that occurs in 316L Stainless Steel. The results of tests that have been done show that the lowest corrosion rate value is by using NaNO2 inhibitors with a concentration of 200 ppm at a temperature of 35°C that is equal to 0.027441 mm/year while the lowest corrosion rate value for coffee extract inhibitors is 0.050521 mm/year mm/year at 35°C with a concentration of 300 ppm. From these results it can be concluded that the best corrosion protection method is obtained by adding NaNO2 inhibitors because it has the lowest corrosion rate

    RANCANG BANGUN MODIFIKASI PAD EYE PADA GALANGAN

    The function of the pad eye provides a point where the pulley can be hooked directly accordingto the design. The pad eye is installed by welding on the desired area. In the process of installing the padeye, there are obstacles experienced, for example in the installation of the pad eye which takes time dueto the improper welding and welding process. The pad eye modification was carried out to make it easierto do the installation quickly. The pad eye modification has a clamp that can be adjusted in widthaccording to the support. The first step of this pad eye modification is modeling to find out the appropriatedesign on the support, after which material selection is carried out. Followed by the calculation ofallowable stress, tensile and shear. After the calculation results meet the safety criteria, proceed withtesting the pad eye modification using a load cell. The calculation obtained is the largest tensile stress of18.387 MPa, the largest shear stress of 45.969 MPa of the two stresses compared to the permit stress of72 MPa, so it can meet the safety criteria. The bolt strength value is 7.661 MPa from these resultscompared to the permit voltage of 60 MPa. The calculation results show that the pad eye modificationconstruction meets the safety criteria. In strength testing, it is concluded that the pad eye modification isable to lift loads from 500kg to 1500kg
