Sin dalla prima edizione (Bayley, 1969), le Scale Bayley sono state ampiamente usate nella valutazione dello sviluppo infantile, sia per scopi clinici che di ricerca. Possono infatti fornire numerose informazioni qualitative e quantitative sul funzionamento del bambino, che lo rendono uno strumento particolarmente adatto anche alla valutazione e diagnosi per bambini a rischio di sviluppo. Is there a mantle plume below Italy?
Some of the most diverse igneous rocks found on Earth occur along the length of Italy and in many of the islands in the southeastern Tyrrhenian Sea, all the result of Cenozoic magmatism. Magmas extremely rich in alkalis, particularly potassium, and many undersaturated with respect to silica, were erupted, as well as others of calc-alkalic affinity . Their origin has been the subject of heated debate, and there is still no general consensus about how they formed. Most attribute them to subduction-related processes (Beccaluva et al. 2004, for a review); others consider them to be the result of within-plate magmatism [e.g., Vollmer, 1976; Lavecchia and Stoppa, 1996]. Still others consider magmatism the result of a deep, mantle upwelling within a slab window coupled with mixing between isotopically different reservoirs [Gasperini et al., 2002]
Reported data and interpretation of some wollastonite- and melilite-bearing rocks from the Central Apennines of Italy
Two distinct occurrences of wollastonite- and melilite-bearing rocks from Ricetto and Colle Fabbri, which are located in the central Italy Apennine Range, are referred to as “paralavas“ generated by melting and recrystallization of marly sediments “likely due to coal fires“ by Melluso et al. (2003). We submit data demonstrating that these conclusions are incorrect. Ricetto is clearly pyrometamorphic, as described by Capitanio et al. (2001, 2004). Colle Fabbri is clearly an igneous outcrop as described in Stoppa (1988). It is quite different in scale, field relationships, and chemistry, and thus Ricetto is irrelevant to its petrogenesis. The sediment mixing model of Melluso et al. (2003) does not relate to the Colle Fabbri field data. Furthermore, the Ricetto Miocene flysch country-rock and the Colle Fabbri enclosing Pliocene clays were not analyzed by Melluso et al. (2003). A limestone-shale mixing calculation using Sr and Nd isotopic data in Melluso et al. (2003, Tables 3 4) and a 143Nd/144Nd ratio of 0.51213 for Apennine shales (op.cit. p. 1297) fails to account for the Colle Fabbri samples, which remain well clear of the hypothetical mixing line. Rocks of mantle origin, including micaceous kimberlites and Western Australia lamproites, plot in the variation field of Colle Fabbri and regionally associated igneous rocks. Colle Fabbri is but one of a series of similar igneous melilite-bearing and carbonatite occurrences that constitute the Intramontane Ultra-alkaline Province of central Italy (IUP), although Colle Fabbri does have unique features, as do other of these occurrences (Stoppa et al. 2003)

Plume activity, magmatism, and the geodynamic evolution of the Central Mediterranean
On the basis of isotopic and geochemical data we propose that most of the volcanic activity in Italy is plume rather than subduction related. We suggest that a large plume underlies the Tyrrhenian Sea, extending westwards under Sardinia and Corsica, northwards towards the Western Alps and eastwards under the Italian mainland. The plume is isotopically defined in terms of three end-members, different from any of those found in subduction-related environments. Two of the end-members are similar to the FOZO and EM1 mantle components defined on the basis of data from OIBs, while a third, here called ITEM (ITalian Enriched Mantle), is characterized by a high 87Sr/86Sr ratio (> 0.7200) and quite different from any component found in oceanic environments. The two trends that emerge in isotope ratio diagrams indicate mixing between a common end-member (FOZO) and the two others. Implied by the presence of a common end-member is the involvement of a common source and a single large-scale geodynamic system. Partial melting of an isotopically heterogeneous plume head containing both source and entrained material is one way to explain many of the features that characterize Italian magmatism. Widespread extensional tectonics, lithospheric thinning, and deep-seated CO2 emissions add further support to mantle plume activity in Italy

A DH-Leavened Musicological Toolbox
Graduate-level training in music research methodologies tends to ignore digital humanities work and overlook the use of digital tools created in support of new forms of reading. Training instead focuses on source material in the student’s area of interest. This material includes secondary and primary (archival) resources, as well as information resources, such as: monuments of music and critical editions; indexes; bibliographies and thematic catalogs; dictionaries and encyclopedias; digital libraries of scores or editions; and databases of period-specific newspapers or journals. Graduate students taking research methods courses already have a toolbox built from their experiences as musicians and students of music, including the ability to read and interpret music notation, to understand theoretical and analytical concepts in music, as well as a command of music history, including the canon of musical works.
Digital humanities has become a major area of academic endeavor at the “interface of technological development, epistemological change and methodological concerns." An important characteristic of digital humanities research has been its interdisciplinarity. We argue that graduate training in musicology needs to include coverage of methodologies applied by digital humanists in support of new forms of reading, not only to broaden the canon of research topics in musicology, but also to build common ground with researchers of other disciplines. We propose that librarians are well positioned to provide this expertise and training
A Twitter Case Study for Assessing Digital Sound
Academic and cultural heritage institutions around the world have made measurable strides in the development of digital sound archives oriented towards research and access, but their impact on scholarship and society has been little studied. Traditionally, impact has been measured by citations; yet these are problematic metrics for non-traditional outputs like sound recordings. Social media data provide a promising avenue of investigation for measuring scholarly as well as societal impact. Twitter in particular has been shown to provide a high number of references for cultural and research outputs in all disciplines. This study analyzes Twitter references pertaining to the collections of five digital sound archives: British Library Sounds, Europeana Sounds, the Internet Archive Audio Archive, PennSound and UbuWeb. Using text analysis methods to identify high frequency events and trends, and labeling them with a rubric designed for measuring the impact of digital heritage resources, this study provides preliminary insights on user values as they relate to digital sound collections. Despite the limitations of using social media data, the evidence gathered in this case study characterizes aspects of the use of digital sound collections, and may point to future priorities for the digital preservation of sound.Peer reviewe
