The perception of three generations on partnership, family and transition to adulthood
In the theoretical part of my bachelor\u27s thesis, I present the concept of family, compare contemporary families to families of the past, draw parallels with the pluralisation of family life events, define the concept of youth and present the transition from youth into adulthood, analyse the trends of transition into adulthood and correlate it with prolonged living arrangements with one\u27s parents. Afterward, I discuss relationships between partners, describe in detail the deciding factors in becoming a parent and touch on same-sex partnerships. I also present the concept of parenthood, the deciding factors in becoming a parent and describe the phenomenon of modern fatherhood.
Finally, I touch on the concept of becoming independent from one\u27s family of origin and make a brief correlation with employment, society, tradition and religion.
The empirical part of my bachelor\u27s thesis consists of an analysis of personal interviews conducted with nine individuals from three different generations. In my analysis, I focused on the concept of transition into adulthood, intergenerational cooperation, relationships between partners and factors that influenced the interviewees when choosing their partners.
Results show that close relatives, especially parents who uphold certain values and set an example for their children, significantly influence the decisions regarding parenthood, family and living conditions
Determinants of nurses\u27 attitude towards euthanasia
Introduction: Euthanasia is defined as an intentional act of ending the life of a person who explicitly requests it and suffers severely due to incurable or irreversible medical conditions. Nurses are often the first to be confronted with a request for euthanasia, as they have the most frequent contact with patients in hospital settings. In providing comprehensive patient care, nurses need a deep understanding of euthanasia to develop the ability to recognize patients’ concerns, respond appropriately to their needs, and provide adequate care to both patients and their relatives. A key factor in nurses’ decision-making about involvement in the euthanasia process in regions where euthanasia is legalised, and the provision of quality nursing care is their attitude toward euthanasia. Understanding what influences this attitude can enable appropriate support for nurses in the process of euthanasia and assist in establishing sound legal frameworks. These frameworks provide nurses with a sense of security and empower them in their decision-making, thereby enabling them to offer high-quality care to patients.
Purpose: The purpose of this diploma work is to identify the determinants or factors that influence nurses\u27 attitudes toward euthanasia.
Methods: A descriptive method of reviewing professional and scientific literature was used. Literature was collected through the databases and search engines EBSCO-host, PubMed, and ScienceDirect between February 2025 and April 2025.
Results: Due to the diversity of findings, the identified factors influencing nurses\u27 attitudes toward euthanasia were categorized into four main groups: socio-demographic characteristics of nurses, professional characteristics, legal framework around euthanasia of different countries, and patients\u27 conditions. We found that no single factor determines a positive or negative attitude toward euthanasia, but rather that these factors are interconnected. Discussion and Conclusion: A comprehensive approach to understanding nurses’ attitudes is essential, encompassing multiple aspects rather than focusing on a single specific factor. Euthanasia continues to be a subject of global debate, and with it, the role and attitudes of nurses as direct participants in the process. Their attitudes remain dynamic, shaped by legal frameworks, the defined role of nurses in euthanasia, and societal norms. With that we can assume, that the factors influencing these attitudes will continue to evolve
Methods of stress relief among social workers in child welfare
Izvedla sem poglobljene intervjuje s strokovnimi delavkami s področja zaščite otrok in mladostnikov in s predstavnicami vodstva istega CSD (pomočnic direktorice ter direktorico). Working in the field of social welfare is challenging. One of the most stressful fields of social
work is child and adolescent welfare, where social workers come across distress and traumas of social service users, their rough stories, stressful situations and a lot of other pressures (by society, institutions, individuals as well as their own pressures). Social workers have to supervise the ones involved in the process, and at the same time, be their confederate. The procedure of removing a child from their home also comes with a lot of stress. In the following research I am focusing on the sources of strength and the protective factors of social workers, which help them cope with daily challenges in the workplace. I have conducted the in-depth interviews with the social workers working in the field of child and adolescent welfare and with the representatives of the same Social Work Centre (the assistant directors and the director herself). With the qualitative research I explored individual methods of stress relief among social workers and how does the Social Work Centre contribute to this. While doing the research, I paid attention to their needs and wishes as well as to the regulatory framework, especially to the legislation and the role of the competent ministry, which as an organization strives for social changes and the protection of human rights. I researched what (else) would the social workers, working in the field of child and adolescent welfare, need besides the already established methods of coping with stress and burnout at work, to be more prepared and efficient. Based on the findings, I propose the active involvement of the cooperating Social Work Centre’s social workers in the affairs of the entire organization, which means in co-creating a work environment by participating in addressing important work and other related organizational issues, in organizing work and in other questions regarding different strategies for coping with stress and burnout. I also propose connecting the units of the cooperating Social Work Centre and also other Social Work Centres in Slovenia for the purpose of sharing the experience, knowledge, support and help among the social workers
Using meditation and manifestation to increase happiness and improve goal achievement in people experiencing stress
V teoretičnem uvodu magistrskega dela predstavim pojma meditacije in manifestacije, predstavim njun razvoj skozi zgodovino ter opišem vrste meditacije in manifestacije. V nadaljevanju povežem uporabo meditacije in manifestacije z večjim zadovoljstvom in doseganjem ciljev ter opišem uporabo meditacije in manifestacije v socialnem delu.
The aim of this master\u27s thesis is to investigate the use of meditation and manifestation to increase happiness and improve goal achievement in people who frequently experience stress. In the theoretical introduction of the master\u27s thesis, we introduced the concept of meditation and manifestation, explained the development of said concepts throughout history and described various types of meditation and manifestation. We also defined the concept of satisfaction and happiness and the construct of goals. In the following section, we correlated the use of meditation and manifestation with greater satisfaction and goal achievement and described the use of meditation and manifestation in social work.
In the empirical part of the thesis, we presented an analysis of the individual interviews I conducted with eight individuals, based on qualitative research I carried out on a non- probability ad hoc sample. We found that the understanding of meditation and manifestation varies between individuals. We also determined that meditation and manifestation help people feel better and overcome stress. Moreover, we established that meditation helps our interviewees to cope better with stress, while manifestation offers support and help to achieve their goals
