    No full text
Autor članka bavi se istraživanjem opusa arhitekta Nevena Šegvića. U trijadi njegova djela – teorijski rad, projektantski rad, pedagoški rad – tekst obrađuje problematiku prvog segmenta. Analizom evidentiranih bibliografskih jedinica autor sagledava vrijednost pojedinačnoga djela unutar duktusa cjelokupnoga znanstveno-publicističkog djela. Verifikacijom i valorizacijom izlučnih radova te uspostavom stratifikacije elaborira se teza o postojanju pet problemsko-razvojnih faza teorijskog opusa arhitekta Nevena Šegvića.Within his work on the oeuvre of the architect Neven Šegvić, the author focuses in this paper on Šegvić’s theoretical work, as one of the three main subject areas of his career, the others being architectural design and teaching. The analysis of Šegvić’s bibliography provides a basis for a critical evaluation of each particular work and its positioning within the entire theoretical oeuvre. The analysis is followed by a stratification in which the author identifies five discrete development phases in Neven Šegvić’s theoretical work

This paper provides an overview of the phonological linguistic features of the unreleased songs by the young poet and chansonnier Neven Barac. His poems are written in the Grižane idiom that belongs to the Chakavian ikavian-ekavian dialect. Linguistic analysis has confirmed that the young author has remained consistent to his local idiom linguistic features in the language of the songs

Protection and Retrieval of Encrypted Multimedia Content: When Cryptography Meets Signal Processing

    No full text
The processing and encryption of multimedia content are generally considered sequential and independent operations. In certain multimedia content processing scenarios, it is, however, desirable to carry out processing directly on encrypted signals. The field of secure signal processing poses significant challenges for both signal processing and cryptography research; only few ready-to-go fully integrated solutions are available. This study first concisely summarizes cryptographic primitives used in existing solutions to processing of encrypted signals, and discusses implications of the security requirements on these solutions. The study then continues to describe two domains in which secure signal processing has been taken up as a challenge, namely, analysis and retrieval of multimedia content, as well as multimedia content protection. In each domain, state-of-the-art algorithms are described. Finally, the study discusses the challenges and open issues in the field of secure signal processing.Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Scienc

Gambling is a widespread phenomenon that can turn into an addiction and cause serious psychosocial consequences. Emerging adults are at risk due to their behavior, which is often described as risky and reckless. This work is part of the project "Characteristics of students' gambling in Croatia - the importance of cognitive and emotional factors" led by Professor Neven Ricijaš and Assistant Sabina Mandić. Graduate students of social pedagogy at the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences University of Zagreb are also involved. The basic aim of this work is to investigate the frequency of gambling and Croatian students' attitudes towards gambling, as well as possible differences in terms of gender and age. The specific aim of this work is to investigate the nature of the relationship between attitudes and frequency of gambling in the student population. The research was conducted on a convenient sample of N = 641 students from higher educational institutions in the Republic of Croatia (52.7% girls and 47.3% boys). The age range of the participants was from 18 to 40 years (M = 21.25, SD = 2.226). In order to achieve the basic objectives, the following instruments were used: a questionnaire on basic socio-demographic data, a questionnaire on gambling activities (Ricijaš et al., 2016) and The scale of attitudes towards gambling - ATGS-8 (Orford et al., 2009). The obtained data were analyzed using the statistical analysis program IBM SPSS 22. The results show that the lifetime prevalence of gambling among Croatian students is 83.9% and the most common gambling activity is sports betting. According to the results, 12.9% of students and 26.4% of male students regularly participate in sports betting. Gender differences were found in the way that male students gambled more frequently than female students. Age differences were found only for sports betting activities. The results show that older students bet more frequently on sports but with a small effect difference. Results indicate that students in general have relatively negative attitudes toward gambling. Gender differences were found in that female students have more negative attitudes than male students. According to the results, 25.7% of male students and 10.1% of female students have moderately positive attitudes toward gambling, while 13.5% of male students and 31.1% of female students have extremely negative attitudes. No significant difference in attitude toward gambling was found. The results show a slight correlation between attitude towards gambling and frequency of participation in games with higher addictive potential, such as sports betting, casino roulette and gambling on slot machines. The author emphasizes the need to raise awareness of existing gambling problems in order to create and implement protective mechanisms and prevent possible negative consequences for the student population

Analizirajući zajednički upravno-pravni polog demokratskih država, autor ukazuje na mjesto i važnost načela: profesionalnosti, nepristranosti, lojalnosti, materijalne ne-interesiranosti, diskrecije i suzdržanosti; nezavisnost, odgovornost, stalnost, dostupnost, promptnost, otvorenost i transparentnost, učinkovitost i djelotvornost; jednostavnost i jasnoća;In this paper, the author follows the development and problems of the inception of European administrative space. He does so by in particular investigating the causes and foundations, that is, the European principles of public administration and the reforms that those principles demand from the candidate-state for European integration. By analysing the common administrative-legal contribution from democratic countries, the author points out the place and importance of principles: professionalism, impartiality, loyalty, material non-interest, discretion and restraint; independence, responsibility, constancy, accessibility, promptness, openness and transparency, efficiency and effectiveness; simplicity and clarity

Method and praxis: Practical consequences of methodological standpoint/standpoints

This paper analyzes Mladen Lazic’s study ‘Waiting for capitalism’. Attention is given to the first part of this study in which the author has specified the theoretical basis of his own research and his own methodological position. This paper investigates aforementioned methodological position from the view of its possible practical consequences and inside this methodological position recognizes two elements. The first element comes from the so-called. historical relational method which author use in the manner of the French ‘Annales school’, which studies the processes of long duration. The second arises from the (neo)marxist concept of class and class action. After examination of these two elements of Lazic's methodological position is concluded that from them resulting different practical consequences in relation to social changes, since the method is inseparable from the practice in the sense that the theory is funded by practical habitus of its author. From historical-relational method stems favoring the evolution of social change, and this methodological point of view is compatible with gradual approach of socialdemocracy. From the (neo)marxist concept of class stems the thesis with potentially revolutionary consequences. Therefore, it will be possible different readings of this Lazic’s study, especially in the section that talks about ‘the emergence of new class relations in Serbia’ and ‘waiting for capitalism’ as a means of emancipation of Serbian society from Serbian state. Because of ambivalence of methodological form that is used i.e. ambivalence of practical consequences arising from used methodology/methodologies, the study 'Waiting for capitalism' gave possibility of both - the moderate and the radical reading, according to practical position of the reader

    Interactive Remote Rendering

In this thesis, we present an interactive remote volume-rendering system. Our system tries to bridge the gap between complex medical volume data and the patient. The user can easily upload their own data, which they receive from the clinician after a scan, which they can then visualize. Our application does not require any medical or volume visualization background, and can run from any device with a working internet connection and an internet browser. We also introduce a technique to use multiple machines in order to combine the computing power into one very fast renderer and the other way around: multiple concurrent users on one machine by distributing the workload efficiently.Computer GraphicsComputer GraphicsElectrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Scienc
