Eight fables, with a T of C at the book's end. The author and artist take good liberties with the fables. In BC, the cat catches seven mice with one paw. Moral: "Fácil es abrir la boca. Difícil, hacer las cosas." Wolf and dog engage in conversation about their ancestors, with the watchdog rather arrogantly explaining that his part of the family got civilized when they were domesticated. He invites the wolf to come and eat at his house "with four paws." The moral asks who chose better, the wolf or the dog? Wolf to goat on the cliff has a great line: "Ea, ea, ea! Qué dulce esta el pasto en la pradera!" FC is told with grapes as the prize. 46 may present the best illustration for the key moment in FC. The crow looks down not quite realizing yet what he has done; the fox jumps up with two outstretched paws to catch the grapes. The mouse in LM is blinded by the sun and so gets somehow onto the lion's back. An unusual illustration shows the mouse caught in the reflections in both of the lion's eyes (56). The editor plays with words like "menos" on 9, making the later letters of the word smaller than the earlier ones. The art work is lively but rather predictable. A sample illustration might be on 34, as the three bulls look askance at each other, while the lion waits under a nearby tree. The endpapers show the goat looking down from his cliff.Language note: SpanishVersiones de Delia Mauná

Low Specific Contact Resistivity to n-Ge and Well-Behaved Ge n(+)/p Diode Achieved by Multiple Implantation and Multiple Annealing Technique

    No full text
In this letter, the specific contact resistivity of metal on n-doped germanium is significantly reduced to 3.8 x 10(-7) Omega.cm(2) by P+ multiple implantation and multiple annealing (MIMA) technique. The dramatic reduction of specific contact resistivity is attributed to the enhanced activation of n-type dopants, and a high electrical activation over 1 x 10(20) cm(-3) is demonstrated by the spreading resistance profiling analysis. In addition, the fabricated germanium n(+)/p diode by P+ MIMA technique exhibits an I-ON/I-OFF ratio over 10(5) with low ideality factor of 1.11. The low specific contact resistivity of metal on n-doped germanium and well-behaved germanium n(+)/p diode are beneficial for the performance improvement of Ge nMOSFETs.http://gateway.webofknowledge.com/gateway/Gateway.cgi?GWVersion=2&SrcApp=PARTNER_APP&SrcAuth=LinksAMR&KeyUT=WOS:000323982500008&DestLinkType=FullRecord&DestApp=ALL_WOS&UsrCustomerID=8e1609b174ce4e31116a60747a720701Engineering, Electrical & ElectronicSCI(E)EI6ARTICLE91097-10993

Stereospecific Synthesis of Alkyl-Substituted Vicinal Diamines from the Mother Diamine: Overcoming the “Intrinsic Barrier” to the Diaza-Cope Rearrangement Reaction

    No full text
Addition of isobutyraldehyde to 1,2-bis(2-hydroxyphenyl)-1,2-diaminoethane (mother diamine) cleanly gives a stable, fused imidazolidine-dihydro-1,3-oxazine ring complex. However, vigorous heating of the fused ring complex gives the diaza-Cope rearrangement product with excellent yield and stereoselectivity. A variety of alkyl aldehydes have been used to make corresponding alkyl diamines with excellent yield and stereospecificity. DFT computation shows that the intrinsic barrier for the rearrangement involving alkyl imines is about 7.9 kcal/mol greater than that involving aryl imines

One-component intrinsic self-healing polymer for coatings based on reversible crosslinking by Diels-Alder-cycloadditions

    No full text
Self-healing can be achieved in polymer coatings by the incorporation of extrinsic materials, i.e. a healing agent is embedded into the coating (e.g., within capsules). In contrast the polymeric coating itself can feature the ability for healing \u96 for instance if reversible covalent bonds are introduced into the polymer network. The Diels-.Alder reaction is one prominent example to obtain reversibility within self-healing/mendable materials. In this context, a novel acrylic-based one-component polymer system has been synthesized, which contains both binding units for the Diels-Alder reaction (i.e. the maleimide and the furan moiety) as well as comonomers to tune the mechanical as well as thermal properties. The ATRP (atom transfer radical polymerization) of maleimide methacrylate (MIMA), furfuryl methacrylate (FMA) as well as of different alkylmethacrylates was utilized to synthesize well-defined functional terpolymers, which could be crosslinked subsequently via thermal treatment. The mechanical and thermal properties of these polymers have been investigated in detail. Moreover, the healing ability of these polymer coatings was studied. The influence of the crosslinking density, the kind of the comonomer and the healing temperature was investigated in detail. An efficient healing of these coatings could be observed. Additionally first attempts to tune the healing temperature of these coatings have been performed. The comonomers can also influence the required temperature for the retro-Diels-Alder reaction
