    Spangenberg Cabin at Millbrook Village

Members of the Spangenberg family, however, felt they were being cheated of their heritage. For, while many family members had resided in the village, the only building receiving a Spangenberg name was the little cabin where bachelor Lester Spangenberg resided. Of the few buildings that remained when the village was taken over by the National Park Service, one dwelling was named The Trauger House, that Spangenberg family members assert served as home to their Civil War ancestor.Spangenberg CabinMillbrookMill BrookMillbrook VillageDelaware RiverDelaware Water GapNational Recreation AreaDelaware Water Gap National Water GapCanoeing on the Delaware RiverNational Park ServiceNPSPennsylvaniaPAThe Keystone StateThe SkylandsNJ SkylandsNew Jersey SkylandsLakelandNew JerseyNJJerseyThe Garden Stat

Il greco di Prisciano: usi lessicali, morfologici e ortografici (alla luce della nuova collazione dell’Ars)

    No full text
The article presents the results of the systematical investigation about the use of the Greek language in the grammatical works by Priscian. The first section of the article illus- trates the methodology of the research, that is based on a new classifica- tion of the Graeca Prisciani according to their function within the exposi- tion carried out by the Latin grammarian. The rest of this contribution focuses on the attestations of the Greek language that can be ascribed to Priscian himself and are not inherited from his grammatical or literary sources: the author analyses the morphological, syntactic, lexical, and orthographical peculiarities of such Greek passages, also in view of the new collation of the 9th-10th-century manuscripts of the Ars as well as of the revision of the manuscript tradition of selected passages in Priscian’s minor works

    ‘Aulo Gellio’ è mai esistito?

The paper offers an afresh analysis of the issue concerning the name of the author of the Noctes Atticae, that has been long debated since the Humanistic Age. The author is usually known as Aulus Gellius, based on the assumption that the reading Agellius, which occurs frequently in both the direct and the indirect tradition, is a mere scribal slip for A. Gellius. The new inquiry focuses at first on the incipit and explicit indications in the direct witnesses of the Noctes Atticae, demonstrating that here Agellius is the archetypal reading and A. Gellius occurs only as a rare and secondary correction. The rest of the paper is devoted to the systematic survey of the indirect sources, subdivided in those attesting the names Agellius, Aulus Gellius, and Gellius. This analysis, supported by an afresh direct in- spection of the manuscripts of each source, shows that Agellius is the name cited by the majority of the indirect witnesses (Lactantius, Augustine, Priscian, Gregory of Tours); that the loci believed to attest Gellius seem to be actually occurrences of either Agellius (Historia Augusta) or of a totally different name (Naucellius in Fronto). Aulus Gellius occurs only once in Servius’ commentary on Virgil and twice in Servius auctus

Rejoinder to article by Harold M Shroder: The fallacy of using in-basket based measures for the validation of leadership dimensions

A response is given to the critical questions and concerns raised by Schroder (2004) on the validation study by Spangenberg and Theron (2003). The importance of open debate as an expression of scientific rationally in service of the epistemic ideal of science is acknowledged. Schroder’s (2004) concern essentially centers on the use of the inbasket as a stand-alone measure and the appropriateness of the design of the Spangenberg and Theron (2003) study for the investigation of the validity of the HPLC’s. The objectives of the Spangenberg and Theron (2003) study are re-examined. The prudence of using and validating the in-basket as a stand-alone measure is discussed.

Confirmatory factor analysis of the performance management audit questionnaire

    No full text
This article reports on the findings of a more sophisticated and demanding re-analysis of a data set collected and analyzed by Spangenberg and Theron (1997) to examine the validity of a Performance Management audit questionnaire. LISREL 8 was used for a confirmatory factor analysis to determine the fit of the measurement model that guided the construction of the Performance Management Audit Questionnaire (PMAQ). The findings reported here corroborate the position explicated in Spangenberg and Theron (1997) that the PMAQ provides a content valid measure of the Performance Management domain as conceptualised by the systems model.Articl
