Get PDFAmong the writers of the Caribbean countries, the notion of the border is related to the discourse of insularity. This concept goes beyond geographical limits, because it designates a historical-cultural experience and a peculiar identifying perspective that have generated a heterogeneous writing. Based on these premises, the essay proposes the analysis of “Cuento en camino” written by the Puerto Rican writer Ana Lydia Vega, text included in Falsas crónicas del Sur (1991). The story emerges as the synthesis of the narrative poetics developed throughout the collection, in which the stories are installed in the imprecise border between the chronicle and the fiction, between the legend and the oral tradition of the Puerto Rican peoples. It is also presented as a metaliterary story, since the author reveals the narrative and narratological instruments used to construct the story

Get PDFIn a year during which some of the most leading figures in Latin American literature were celebrated on their centenary of their birth, (Julio Cortázar, Adolfo Bioy Casares, Gertrudis Gomez de Avellaneda, Octavio Paz), I would like to remember a belated centenary, due to a real “rebirth” in the cultural and literary Cuban scene. I’m going to propose an excellent cuban writer, Virgilio Piñera (1912-1979), who become the subject of growing critical and popular attention in recent years. His singular stories – or better still, his whole existential adventure – answer to a deep-rooted obsession with authenticity, that insidious zone where each character and situation denude his author and the ghosts tormenting him. His writing, being a continuous paradox, is the instrument trough which he wants to fight the trivial and the meaningless. His troublesome literary voice was reconsidered after his death, and his first official centenary, in his native country, was commemorated only three years ago, in 2012

No full textCoronary computed tomography angiography is a noninvasive heart imaging test currently undergoing rapid development and advancement. The high resolution of the three-dimensional pictures of the moving heart and great vessels is performed during a coronary computed tomography to identify coronary artery disease and classify patient risk for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The technique provides useful information about the coronary tree and atherosclerotic plaques beyond simple luminal narrowing and plaque type defined by calcium content. This application will improve image-guided prevention, medical therapy, and coronary interventions. The ability to interpret coronary computed tomography images is of utmost importance as we develop personalized medical care to enable therapeutic interventions stratified on the bases of plaque characteristics. This overview provides available data and expert's recommendations in the utilization of coronary computed tomography findings. We focus on the use of coronary computed tomography to detect coronary artery disease and stratify patients at risk, illustrating the implications of this test on patient management. We describe its diagnostic power in identifying patients at higher risk to develop acute coronary syndrome and its prognostic significance. Finally, we highlight the features of the vulnerable plaques imaged by coronary computed tomography angiography
Las "Pequeñas Maniobras" de Sebastián en la novela de Virgilio Piñera
Get PDFThis article analyzes the perspective of everyday life in a society that greatly influences behavior and thinking of the main character and narrator of the novel Pequeñas Maniobras (1963), by Cuban writer Virgilio Piñera. Due to the difficulties introduced by censorship, reception of his work encountered obstacles during the author’s life and very few criticism is now available about this text. The novel offers a particular reading of life and reality that the main character, Sebastián, proposes in the first person. The elements of everyday life I will examine are those connected to the ‘no-actions’ and the ‘no-dialogues’ of the protagonist in a corrupted society, in which he feels alienated; but, at the same time and just through these behaviors, he ‘contributes’ to its development. Moreover, I will study possible parallelisms between the protagonist and the author, involved in this paradoxical social game. From a reflection on the literary genre used, including the diary, memoirs and confessions, I will show how this ‘daily exercise’ is well suited to the intentions of the writer. In addition, based on the reflections by Maurice Blanchot and Guy Debord, along with scholars who have analyzed the literary universe of Virgilio Piñera, I will examine remarkable behavioral and linguistic aspects of the protagonist in this story
Il lavoro delle donne: una lettura giuslavoristica dei dati amministrativi.
No full textL'autrice esamina il mercato del lavoro attraverso la lente dei "big data" di fonte amministrativa, in particolare le Comunicazioni Obbligatorie, e utilizza il genere come chiave di lettura per interpretare questi dati, in correlazione al quadro normativo applicabile. Vengono analizzate le caratteristiche dell'occupazione femminile, inclusa l'evoluzione storica delle attivazioni contrattuali, i tassi di occupazione (nazionali e provinciale), la ripartizione tra contratti a tempo determinato e indeterminato, e tra full-time e part-time.
Il saggio dedica sezioni specifiche all'occupazione femminile nel settore terziario e nella somministrazione e indaga il fenomeno delle dimissioni femminili soffermandosi sui relativi tassi di rientro. Un focus importante è dedicato sulla fruizione dei congedi come elemento culturale e alla questione del "glass ceiling" e della segregazione occupazionale.
L'autrice affronta anche il tema delle retribuzioni medie e della parità retributiva, evidenziando i limiti delle Comunicazioni Obbligatorie e l'importanza dei dati INPS.
Viene inoltre discussa la trasparenza retributiva e i dati da essa potenzialmente derivanti come strumento aggiuntivo per l'analisi del mercato del lavoro in chiave di genere.The author examines the labour market through the lens of administrative "big data," particularly the "Comunicazioni Obbligatorie" (Mandatory Communications), and uses gender as a key for interpreting this data, in correlation with the applicable regulatory framework. The characteristics of female employment are analyzed, including the historical evolution of contractual activations, employment rates (national and provincial), the distribution between fixed-term and open-ended contracts, and between full-time and part-time.
The essay dedicates specific sections to female employment in the tertiary sector and in temporary work, and investigates the phenomenon of female resignations, focusing on their re-entry rates. Significant attention is given to the use of leave as a cultural element and to the issues of the "glass ceiling" and occupational segregation.
The author also addresses the topic of average wages and pay equity, highlighting the limitations of the "Comunicazioni Obbligatorie" and the importance of INPS (National Social Security Institute) data. Pay transparency and the data potentially derived from it are also discussed as an additional tool for gender-based labour market analysis
