Stelletta wilsoni Van Soest & Hooper 2020
Stelletta wilsoni Van Soest & Hooper, 2020
Stelletta wilsoni Van Soest & Hooper, 2020: 50 (case 87) in Van Soest et al. 2020.

For Stelletta wilsoni Van Soest & Hooper, 2020 it was erroneously stated it was ‘comb.nov.’ rather than nom.nov. It is here confirmed it was intended as a nomen novum.
Published as part of Van Soest, Rob W. Hunteria Van Soest & Hooper 2020

Genus Hunteria Van Soest & Hooper, 2020

Genus Hunteria Van Soest & Hooper, 2020: 274.

The genus was erected to remove the homonymy of genus Deanea Bowerbank, 1875 (Van Soest et al. 2020: case nr. 119, p. 69) but the new name became a junior homonym of Hunteria Delfinado-Baker, Baker & Flechtmann, 1984 (Arachnida), which must be replaced (ICZN art. 57.2). I propose here Reiswiginella nom.nov., named after the late Henry M. Reiswig to replace Hunteria Van Soest & Hooper, 2020 with type species Deanea virgultosa Bowerbank, 1875.
Published as part of Van Soest, Rob W. Ijimalophus Van Soest & Hooper 2020
Ijimalophus Van Soest & Hooper, 2020
Ijimalophus Van Soest & Hooper, 2020: 70.

The genus name was erected to remove homonymy of the genus Sericolophus Ijima, 1901 (Van Soest et al. 2020: case nr. 121), but it should perhaps have been named Hernandeziana Strand, 1932 because Reiswig & Zgraggen (1991: 70) proposed their synonymy. There are several uncertain aspects of this proposed synonymy, e.g. the holotype of the type species Sericolophus reflexus Ijima, 1901 has not been identified as yet, while the holotype of the type species of Hernandeziana, i.e. Corythophora ijimae Ferrer Hernández, 1932: 99, redescribed by Reiswig & Zgraggen (1991) consists only of a root plume, lacking essential spicule types. I will not take a decision here to revert Ijimalophus to the synonymy of Hernandeziana, leaving this to future studies.
Published as part of Van Soest, Rob W. Spongia (Spongia) fuscoides Van Soest & Hooper 2020
Spongia (Spongia) fuscoides Van Soest & Hooper, 2020
Spongia (Spongia) fuscoides Van Soest & Hooper, 2020: 31.

Van Soest et al. 2020 errroneously erected this name as a nomen novum for Spongia agaricina subsp. corlosia (sic) var. fusca Hyatt, 1877: 524 (from Nassau, Bahamas), an alleged junior homonym of Spongia communis fusca Lamarck, 1814. Because Hyatt’s name is not available for being a four-name taxon it cannot come into homonymy with an available name (ICZN art. 54.1). The present species name is unavailable. The specimen likely belongs to Spongia (Spongia) tubulifera Lamarck, 1814 in accordance with above discussed Spongia agaricina subsp. coelosia var. fusca Hyatt, 1877).
Published as part of Van Soest, Rob W.
