Myrceugenia hamoniana Sobral 2010, comb. nov.

4.1. Myrceugenia hamoniana (Mattos) Sobral, comb. nov. Basionym: Eugenia hamoniana Mattos, Loefgrenia 12:1. 1963 (type: Brasil, Santa Catarina, Hamonia, Lüderwalt 1750, holotype SP). = Myrceugenia smithii Landrum, Brittonia 32: 374. 1980 (type: Brasil, Santa Catarina, Indaial (Apiúna), Smith & Reitz 12411; holotype HBR, isotype RB). Mattos (1993), considers Eugenia hamoniana as a synonym of Eugenia sprengelii DC, but E. sprengelii presents markedly racemiform inflorescences with 2-4 glabrous flowers, while E. hamoniana bears solitary axillary flowers that are pilose at least at the ovaries. The leaves in E. sprengelii are not mucronate, while they are so in E. hamoniana. Such differences do not corroborate Mattos' decision of considering both species synonyms. Additionally, Hamonia, the type locality of E. hamoniana, is presently known as Ibirama (Seyferth 1999), a municipality colse to Indaial (IBGE 2010), where the type of M. smithii was collected; E. sprengelii, as far as known, is only known from the state of Rio de Janeiro.Published as part of Sobral, M., Souza, M. 3.9. Eugenia neogracilis Mazine & Sobral, nom. nov. Eugenia gracilis O.Berg, Linnaea 27: 149. 1856 (name); Fl. Bras. 14(1): 222. 1857 (type: São Paulo, Sellow s.n., B, probably destroyed. Neotype here designated: Brasil, Espírito Santo, mun. Santa Teresa, Pedra da Onça, V. Demuner 500, MBML), not Eugenia gracilis Bedd., Madras J. Lit. Sci. 3(1): 46. 1854. Although originally collected in the Brazilian state of São Paulo, we do not have any information of additional collections there; nevertheless, this species has been frequently collected in montane regions of the southeastern Brazilian state of Espírito Santo. Among recent collections in MBML (for a list of them check E. gracilis in CRIA 2010), Demuner 500 bears abundant flowers and adequately matches the protologue of E. gracilis; herein we propose it as the neotype.Published as part of Sobral, M., Souza, M. 33. Myrciaria glazioviana (Kiaersk.) G.M.Barroso ex Sobral (2006a: 137) [Fig. 4N, O; Fig. 6N, O] Endemic to the Atlantic Forest (Sobral et al. 2009) and previously considered restricted to the southeast region of Brazil by Sobral et al. (2010). The first records of the species from the northeast region of Brazil, from the States of Pernambuco and Bahia, are presented here. Trees and shrubs 4–7 m tall. This species differs from Myrciaria ferruginea by having longer leaves (7–11 cm long) and a flat or raised midvein on the adaxial lamina surface; it differs from M. floribunda by having pilose leaves, calyx lobes and hypanthium and by longer bracts. Selected specimens: BRAZIL. Pernambuco: Cabo de Santo Agostinho, Reserva Ecológica Mata of Zumbi, 10.III.2010, fl., T. Leão 01 et al. (UFP); Paudalho, Mata da Cova da Onça, Km 17, 26.VII.2010, fl., B.S. Amorim 660 et al. (UFP); São Lourenço da Mata, Estação Ecológica de Tapacurá, fl., B.S. Amorim 687 et al. (UFP). Bahia:, Jequié, Brejo Novo, 22.VIII.2011, fr., A.R. Lourenço 441 et al. (UFP). São Paulo: São Paulo, Horto Florestal, 08.X.1941, fl., fr., B. Pickel 5616 et al.
