    This is a Microsoft Access database of imagery, drawings, and photos accompanying Excavations at Tall Jawa, Jordan: Volume 3, The Iron Age Pottery by P.M. Michèle Daviau. The text and database present a detailed typology of the Iron Age pottery excavated from 1989 to 1995. Together, they represent an in-depth analysis of the forming techniques employed to make each type of vessel from bowls to colanders, cooking pots to pithoi. The digital archive is a work in progress by the author. The archive currently holds the collection for Excavation Field D. Upon completion, it will include seven collections, each one consisting of a database of diagnostic sherds and vessels as well as the images of these pots as .tiff files. Databases are related to excavation fields and are designed for meaningful searches: A, B, C-east, C-west, A-east (associated with C-west), D and E

    Arc root commutation from moving contacts in low voltage devices

    This paper focus on the arc commutation from a moving contact and in particular on the anode motion of a high current arc in low voltage current limiting circuit breakers. Recent investigations have observed that the anode arc root motion is affected by arc chamber geometry. It was previously assumed that cathode root motion was the dominant process. The study uses a flexible test apparatus with a solid state high speed imaging system. The experimental results presented show the influence of arc chamber venting, current level, current polarity and contact velocity on arc motion, Particular emphasis is made on the anode motion. The physical processes occurring in the anode root are discussed and related to the observed motion. The results show that the anode root is retarded at the tip of the moving contact and that this is primarily related to the venting process in the arc chamber

    Experimental Study of a Parallel Iterative Solver for Markov Chain Modeling

    This paper presents the results of a preliminary experimental investigation of the performance of a stationary iterative method based on a block staircase splitting for solving singular systems of linear equations arising in Markov chain modelling. From the experiments presented, we can deduce that the method is well suited for solving block banded or more generally localized systems in a parallel computing environment. The parallel implementation has been benchmarked using several Markovian models

    On Blood Viscosity and Its Correlation with Biological Parameters

    In recent years interest in blood viscosity has increased significantly in different biomedical areas. Blood viscosity, a measure of the resistance of blood flow, related to its thickness and stickiness, is one of the main biophysical properties of blood. Many factors affect blood viscosity, both in physiological and in pathological conditions. The aim of this study is to estimate blood viscosity by using the regression equation of viscosity which is based on hematocrit and total plasma proteins. It can be used to perform several observations regards the main factors which can influence blood viscosity. The main contribution regards the correlation between viscosity values and other important biological parameters such as cholesterol. This correlation has been supported by performing statistical tests and it suggest that the viscosity could be the main risk factor in cardiovascular diseases. Moreover, it is the only biological measure being correlated with the other cardiovascular risk factors. Results obtained are compliant with values obtained by using the standard viscosity measurement through a viscometer
