Communication Technology: Rebuilding a Better Global Civilization on Earth
The evolution of communication technology fuels ongoing introspection among humans, shaping their self-perception and worldview. As reliance on these tools deepens, individuals delve into their existence and the societal constructs that govern their lives, potentially steering the development of communication tech for global betterment. Historically, humans have pondered their role as sources of authority and meaning. Liberal perspectives frame humans as subjective authorities, emphasizing internal experiences to inspire universal meaning. In contrast, Dataists view humans as sources of authority and meaning within collective narratives, highlighting the richness of intersubjective experiences among many individuals in one world. Utilizing advanced communication technology, notably computer algorithms, to interpret collective human narratives, this paper suggests a pathway for enhancing global civilization. It advocates harnessing technology, specifically algorithmic intelligence, to restore a cohesive global identity founded on principles of freedom and equality. Employing phenomenological methods, this research examines human experiences within the realm of communication technology, drawing on humanism, subjectivism, intersubjectivism, and dataism as theoretical frameworks
Krąpiec on the Specificity of Man
The author presents selected insights offered by Mieczysław A. Krąpiec, O.P., about the specificity of man. He starts with making a methodological remark about the correlation between Krąpiec’s anthropology and metaphysics. Then, he tries to grasp essentials in Krąpiec’s interpretation of attributes traditionally indicated as defining man alone, namely animal rationale, animal culturale, animal sociale, homo faber, and homo religiosus. Finally, he concludes that, although all these attributes aptly describe the specificity of man, they all are reducible to the fact that man is a person
Aquinas’ Commentaries on Boethius’ Treatises: a Modification or Interpretation?
Nearly seven hundred years after the death of Boethius, Saint Thomas Aquinas appears to comment on the two works of Boethius: De Trinitate and De Hebdomadibus. In the last years of the 20th century, Aquinas’ comments aroused many discussions and questions among scholars. The question was asked why Aquinas was commenting on the texts of Boethius. Some scholars, such as Marian Kurdziałek, a Polish philosopher, argued that Aquinas intended to get rid of the old method of argumentation that dominated both philosophy and theology. Other scholars, such as Etienne Gilson, Pierre Duhem and Cornelio Fabro, criticized Aquinas, arguing that he used the texts of Boethius as a platform to create a metaphysics that was completely different. The last group of scholars, such as Ralph McInerny, rejects these allegations and claims. The article author joins the ongoing debate, arguing that Aquinas’s comments to Boethius aimed to develop further arguments against the heretics who lived in his time upon the authority of Boethius, who according to Timothy Noone represented the characteristic style of the scholars from the twelfth to the seventeenth century. The other part of the article discusses the question of whether Aquinas’ comments were correct interpretations of Boethius’ texts. In his opinion, the author of the article claims that the interpretations of the texts of Boethius made by Saint Thomas Aquinas is credible and may be the best commentary on Boethius. But, it is necessary to keep in mind the modifications resulting from various scientific cultures that prevailed in the time of the two great scholars.
Why Aquinas Stopped Commenting on Boethius’s De Trinitate
The article is an attempt to answer the question of why Aquinas stops his commentary on Boethius’s De Trinitate at question six, article four, whereas this is before the point in the treatise where Boethius gets to the heart of the subject matter. The author shows that Aquinas (1) decides to do so because the treatise cannot afford him the means of demonstrating the existence of the Trinity, (2) holds that, although rational explanations could be given in terms of proof of God’s existence, one cannot come to the knowledge of the truth of the existence of the Trinity by reason alone, and (3) concludes that, although we cannot prove the doctrine of the existence of the Trinity through philosophical demonstration, we can, however, show that this doctrine and other doctrines known through the light of faith are not contradictory

Świadectwa rekognicji relikwii bł. Jakuba Strzemię
This article deals with the recognition of the relics of Blessed Jakub Strzemię, a Francis-can and archbishop of Halych who lived in the Middle Ages. The author presents subse-quent recognitions of his remains, beginning with a testimony published in the seventeenth century by a witness who was present when a coffin with Archbishop Jakub’s mortal re-mains was found in 1619 in Lviv and ending with a recognition that took place in 2009 in Krakow’s Wawel cathedral. Recognitions that were made in Lviv in 1907-1910 are especially important. On the basis of copies of documents from 1868 to 1910 originating in Lviv and found in the Provincial Archive of the Franciscans in Krakow (the only existing primary documents), the author explains certain matters related to funerary relics found in 2016 af-ter seventy years in an abandoned church in Ukraine: Blessed Jakub Strzemię’s funerary vestments as well as St. Faustinus the Martyr’s bones.W artykule został poruszony problem rekognicji relikwii bł.
