    New Studies of the Structure and the Texts of Abba Garima Ethiopian Gospels

    The article presents a codicological study of the three ancient Ethiopian Gospels of Abba Garima. The author rearranges the sequence of the disordered folios of the manuscripts in detailed tables, proposes a new foliation system and proceeds to catalogue-like descriptions. Attentive inspection of each folio led to the discovery of original quire numbers as well as original and later liturgical annotations put in folio margins, among which there are liturgical rubrics in rare unvocalized consonantal script. Detailed tables of Gospel pericopes and of dates of their liturgical use accompany the descriptions, as well as a discussion of the lectionary system and of the liturgical terminology as attested by the rubrics. The author also discusses philological characteristics of the two subsidiary texts originally included in the Abba Garima manuscripts, ‘Discourse on the Harmony of Gospels’ and ‘Letter of Carpianus’ of Eusebius of Caesarea. The article contains an edition, an English translation and a succint historical commentary of three hitherto inedited donation notes from the 15th-16th centuries.Cet article présente une étude codicologique des trois anciens évangiles éthiopiens du monastère d'Abba Garima. L'auteur réorganise la séquence des folios désordonnés des manuscrits dans des tableaux détaillés, propose un nouveau système de foliation et établit la notice descriptive de chaque manuscrit. Une étude attentive de chaque folio a permis de découvrir les numéros originaux des cahiers. De même, des annotations liturgiques originales et ultérieures ont été découvertes dans les marges des folio. Certaines de ces rubriques liturgiques utilisent une écriture consonantique non vocalisée rare. Des tableaux détaillés des péricopes de l'Évangile et des dates de leur usage liturgique accompagnent les descriptions, de même qu'une discussion sur le système du lectionnaire et sur la terminologie liturgique attestée par les rubriques. L'auteur discute également des caractéristiques philologiques de deux textes subsidiaires inclus à l'origine dans les manuscrits d'Abba Garima, le « Discours sur l'harmonie des Évangiles » et la « Lettre de Carpianus » d'Eusèbe de Césarée.     Investigating multilingualism and its association with executive functioning: An exploratory study comparing bilingual, trilingual and quadrilingual college students in India

    Multilingualism has both advantages and disadvantages. Past research has highlighted this dichotomy by exploring the impact of linguistic ability on individuals’ executive functioning. This study explores the relationship between individuals’ linguistic ability (number of languages spoken) and their executive functioning, specifically, working memory – measured using the Corsi Block-Tapping task (Mueller, 2011a), inhibitory control – measured using the Go/No-Go task (Mueller, 2011b) and problem solving – measured using the Tower of London task (Mueller, 2011c) among bilingual, trilingual and quadrilingual Indian colleges students. Results from a Kruskal Wallis test indicated non-significant results for problem solving among the three groups. However, significant differences were found between groups for working memory (p = 0.050) (particularly between bilinguals and quadrilinguals, and trilinguals and quadrilinguals) and inhibitory control (p = 0.020) (particularly between trilinguals and quadrilinguals). The mixed results indicate a need for further research in this domain within the vast and diverse population of India.     Knowledge Attitude and Practices Among Self Medication Users in A Rural Area of Bhopal

    Introduction: Self medication is an important health issue specially in developing country like India. Practicing self-medication for drugs like antibiotics might lead to drug resistance; and hence, there needs to be a check on these practices. Methodology: It was a cross-sectional study conducted in the field practice area of Rural Health and Training Center, CMCH, Bhopal. for a period of 3 months between August 2016 and October 2016. A sample size of 325 was calculated using formula Z2P(1-P)/d2. House to house survey was conducted and data was collected using a questionnaire method based on memory recall of a period of one month. Results: Major reason for practicing OTC drug in self medication practitioners was high cost of consultation (136-41.8%), followed by mild illness/Doctor’s advice not needed (21.5%). Painkillers were the most common group of medicine used by 180 (55.3%) subjects and bodyache/joint pain was most common symptom for which almost 156 (48%) subjects sought OTC. Conclusion: Though the awareness level regarding over-the-counter drugs was quite good, but the attitude was in favor of self medication

    Generalized model for predicting methane conversion to syngas in membrane reactor

    Present work aims to provide a conceptual framework for predicting methane conversion efficiency and CO selectivity in a membrane reactor which may assist in selecting the type of membrane and minimizing the cost of syngas production. A comparative evaluation of the performance of ceramic (inorganic) membrane reactors was carried out with other types of synthetic membrane reactors. Data has been taken only from those research papers in which reactor is operating in a temperature range of 800 – 900ºC and the pressure range is 1-2 atm. Linear regression analysis was performed and a generalized equation was developed to predict the methane conversion and CO selectivity using different types of membranes. Simulations were performed using MATLAB ODE45 to investigate feasibility of the developed model. CO selectivity was observed better for ceramic membrane reactors since it achieves 90% saturation in 25 hours while for other synthetic membranes, the conversion is only 10% (approx). Overall, ceramic membrane reactors were found to be better than other synthetic membrane reactor due to effective CO selectivity and CH4 conversion.Keywords: Syngas, CH4 conversion, CO selectivity, ceramic membrane</jats:p

With the requests of many users, the machine can go under different conditions such as heavy load and minimum load. These various aspects can lead to system failure and loss of data. Hence the load must be balanced to beat the losses of the system. A load balancing concept described how different types of loads could be balanced with each machine. The load can be of memory, computation, and network. The paper mainly focuses on all kinds of load to provide a big view for load balancing in cloud computing. Along with a review of all load balancing techniques, the paper is also presenting a proposal to balance the load with decision theory.     Breast cancer stem cells, epigenetics, and radiation

    Breast cancer remains a clinical problem despite advancements in the field. Cancer stem cells (CSCs) within the breast cancer population are implicated in cancer relapse. The dormant CSCs generally resist available treatment, thus challenging the current treatment paradigm. Radiation is an aggressive form of treatment typically used to reduce tumor mass in breast cancer patients. Several clinical and research-based studies have shown that radiation treatment cannot target all cancer cells, leaving behind radioresistant cells. The radioresistant cells have the potential to acquire stem cell-like features that render them untargetable with respect to the current technology. This review elaborates on cancer cells acquiring stem cell phenotype. In addition, we discuss the phenotype and function of cancer cells that are derived from radioresistant cells as well as indirect changes as a consequence to bystander effect. In addition, the epigenetic profile of the radioresistant cells plays a crucial role in the acquisition of cycling quiescence and stem cell-like phenotype and is detailed in this review
