Tenis y escoliosis: un abordaje sin prejuicios

This contribution intends to offer a concise and exhaustive overview of the scientific production on the topic, as well as to provide researchers with theoretical reflections, scientific hypotheses and what can be deduced from the personal baggage of experience in the field, albeit limited. All permeated by the hope that future epidemiological investigations will be conducted, compared to the past, with greater methodological rigor and with a more coherent and incisive modus operandi. It is unfortunately undeniable that until today the medical sciences have not been able or able to deal with the topic except in a fragmentary manner and with sometimes questionable criteria. The consequences? Few valid studies and too many hasty judgments.

Interaction of iron phthalocyanine with the graphene/Ni(111) system

    No full text
Graphene grown on crystalline metal surfaces is a good candidate to act as a buffer layer between the metal and organic molecules that are deposited on top, because it offers the possibility to control the interaction between the substrate and the molecules. High-resolution angular-resolved ultraviolet photo electron spectroscopy (ARPES) is used to determine the interaction states of iron phthalocyanine molecules that are adsorbed onto graphene on Ni(111). The iron phthalocyanine deposition induces a quenching of the Ni d surface minority band and the appearance of an interface state on graphene/Ni(111). The results have been compared to the deposition of iron phthalocyanine on graphene/Ir(111), for which a higher decoupling of the organic molecule from the underlying metal is exerted by the graphene buffer layer

Graphene Induced Substrate Decoupling and Ideal Doping of a Self-Assembled Iron-Phthalocyanine Single Layer

    No full text
Iron-phthalocyanine molecules self-assemble on the moiré pattern of graphene/Ir(111) as a flat and weakly interacting layer, as determined by core-level photoemission and absorption spectroscopy. The graphene buffer layer decouples the FePc two-dimensional structure from the underlying metal; the electronic structure of the FePc molecular macrocycles is preserved; and the Fe-L2,3 edges present narrower and slightly modified resonances at the FePc single-layer coverage with respect to a thin film. The FePc layer induces a slight electron doping to the Ir-supported graphene resulting in the Dirac cone position expected for an ideal free-standing-like graphene layer with the standard Fermi velocity

Interface Management in Concurrent Engineering Facilities for Systems and Service Systems Engineering: A Model-based Approach

    No full text
Concurrent engineering facilities (CEFs) are successfully used in the aeropsace sector to design systems and services that that fulfill the requirements. Model-based systems engineering (MBSE) enables the effective (i.e., unambiguous) communication in the collaborative activities within concurrent engineering and service systems engineering facilities. The advantages obtained by the MBSE approach can be further scaled up by an innovative approach that take into explicit account the representation of the inter-systems aspects, i.e., those aspects, namely interfacs, that stay in between the system, its sub-systems and external entities (other systems and organizations). Such an approach, briefly denoted as a Model-based Interface Engineering (MBIE), brings several benefits to the CEF activities. This paper illustrates the integration of the Interface Communication Modelling Language (ICML) into the existing MBSE methods for the CEF software framework VirSat, by identifying the business needs driving the use of MBIE approaches and showing example application scenarios

Plasma enhanced hot filament CVD growth of thick carbon nanowall layers

    No full text
Carbon nanowalls are carbon nanostructures consisting of arrays of graphitic carbon plates which are mainly positioned perpendicularly to the growth surface. Carbon nanowalls have received considerable interest in recent years, since they are closely related to graphene from the structural point of view, while maintaining an open honeycomb lattice on the nanoscale. They are thus believed to be an interesting electrode material for many applications since they offer high chemical resistance, low electrical resistance and high surface area. In this paper we are presenting a method that allows the growth of thick layers of carbon nanowalls onto flat and porous substrates, both carbon and refractory metal based. Such methods are promising for making electrodes for use in electrochemical devices. © 2017 Author(s)

An ab initio study of hydroxylated graphane

    No full text
Graphene-based derivatives with covalent functionalization and well-defined stoichiometry are highly desirable in view of their application as functional surfaces. Here, we have evaluated by ab initio calculations the energy of formation and the phase diagram of hydroxylated graphane structures, i.e., fully functionalized graphene derivatives coordinated with -H and -OH groups. We compared these structures to different hydrogenated and non-hydrogenated graphene oxide derivatives, with high level of epoxide and hydroxyl groups functionalization. Based on our calculations, stable phases of hydroxylated graphane with low and high contents of hydrogen are demonstrated for high oxygen and hydrogen partial pressure, respectively. Stable phases of graphene oxide with a mixed carbon hybridization are also found. Notably, the synthesis of hydroxylated graphane has been recently reported in the literature. © 2017 Author(s)

A Model-based Signal-In-Space Interface Specification to Support the Design of Galileo Receivers

    No full text
The design and development of Galileo receivers will be a key factor to determine the market approach and penetration. The massive use of the Galileo services will be impacted, as well as the estimated economical return of the Galileo linked activities. In general, GNSS receivers use similar mathematical models for the computation of the global positioning from a standard parameter set. However, receivers design and implementation solutions are often inherently dependent on the specific parameter representations defined in the Signal-In-Space (SIS) interface specifications. In this paper, we introduce Interface Communication Modeling Language (ICML) as a model-based approach for the SIS interface specification to support the engineering of Galileo receivers. We argue that a model-based specification can potentially bring several technical benefits to the design of Galileo receivers, including support for specification communication among stakeholders, reuse and adaptation of existing GPS software and chipsets, and receiver-side multi GNSS interoperability, for example. As a result, a model-based SIS interface specification can contribute to increase the use of the Galileo services by reducing the impact of the technical factors leading to the extra costs. In the paper, we present the overall layout of the ICML language and preliminary applications. In particular, we present a simplified excerpt of a Galileo-like SIS specification and functional schema of GNSS receivers and show how the ICML-based specification can support the design of Galileo receivers. An important caveat: no endorsement is made for the use of the ICML language for the official Galileo SIS interface specification
