Temperamento Infantile, Disattenzione e Iperattività. Un Confronto Tra Genitori e Insegnanti
L’interazione reciproca tra temperamento infantile, comportamento adulto e risposte infantili ad esso ha effetto sullo sviluppo del bambino, in generale e nel contesto scolastico (Lerner e Lerner, 1983; Chess e Thomas, 1987; Matheny, 1989; Vermigli e Attili, 2001). Lo studio esplora le valutazioni di insegnanti e genitori su temperamento e comportamento di 49 bambini dell’ultimo anno di scuola dell’infanzia, attraverso l’uso di due strumenti: i Questionari Italiani del Temperamento Infantile (QUIT; Axia, 2002) e le Conners’ Rating Scale-R (CTRS-R, vers. it. Nobile et al., 2007). Le valutazioni di genitori e insegnanti sono significativamente diverse per attività motoria (QUIT; F=21.5, p=.000), emozionalità positiva (QUIT; F=4.75, p=.032) e indice ADHD (CTRS-R; F=21.6, p=.000). Inoltre, nei pattern di correlazione, mentre le valutazioni degli insegnanti su ADHD, iperattività/impulsività e disattenzione (CTRS-R) sono significativamente associate alla maggior parte delle caratteristiche temperamentali (.38<r<.78; p<.01), quelle dei genitori lo sono solo con attività motoria ed emozioni negative (.36<r<.50; p<.01). Clive Gabay’s Imagining Africa: Whiteness and the Western Gaze has more to do with post-colonial studies, critical race theory, and Whiteness studies than with African studies. Gabay’s concern is not the continent per se, but rather the history of idealised visions of Africa in the West, informed by the growing anxiety of Whiteness in perpetuating its mythologized genius. In his introduction (9–22), Gabay posits a distinction between “whiteness” (which defines the status of phenotypical white people) and “Whiteness” (which is seen as a system of privilege involving both white and non-white peoples in safeguarding White and Western genius). The author aims at overturning the conventional post-colonial critique of western imaginaries of Africa “by problematising the sense in which the former consistently holds the latter in inferior relation to it” (4)

Tree embedded linear mixed models
This work gives a contribution to the emerging literature on the use of regression trees for hierarchical data to increase the flexibility and the predictive ability of random effects models. The proposed procedure extends random effect re- gression trees considering a random effect model with both a tree component and a linear component. Moreover, it is suggested to decompose the effects of predictors within and between clusters.
