No full textChen Chen is the author of When I Grow Up I Want to Be a List of Further Possibilities (BOA Editions, 2017), which was long-listed for the National Book Award and won the Thom Gunn Award, among other honors. Bloodaxe Books published a UK edition in June. He is also the author of four chapbooks, most recently You MUST Use the Word Smoothie (Sundress Publications, 2019) and Gesundheit! (in collaboration with Sam Herschel Wein and forthcoming from Glass Poetry Press, fall 2019). His work appears in many publications, including Poem-a-Day, The Massachusetts Review, The Best American Poetry, and The Best American Nonrequired Reading. He has received a Pushcart Prize and fellowships from Kundiman and the National Endowment for the Arts. He holds an MFA from Syracuse University and a PhD from Texas Tech University. He teaches at Brandeis University as the Jacob Ziskind Poet-in-Residence and co-runs the journal, Underblong. He lives in Waltham, Massachusetts, with his partner, Jeff Gilbert, and their pug, Mr. Rupert Gile

Remarks: In the original description, the type locality is “ Yunnan, Jinghong” while it is “ Yunnan, Yutang” according to the label. “Yutang” is actually in Pu’er, not Jinghong. The first author described the type locality by mistake. Treatment of 60 Cases of Gouty Arthritis with Modified Simiao Tang
No full textObjectiveTo observe the clinical effect of a modified Simiao Tang (Modified Decoction of Four Wonderful Drugs) for gouty arthritis and its influence on uric acid in blood.Methods120 cases of gouty arthritis were randomly divided into the treatment group and control group with 60 cases in each group. Modified Simiao Tang (MST) was orally administered to the patients in the treatment group and allopurinol tablet was orally administered to the patients in the control group. The clinical effects of two groups were evaluated after one-week treatment and uric acid (UA) and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels in blood were determined after 1-month treatment.ResultsThe total effective rate in the treatment group was significantly higher than in the control group, 86.7% vs. 68.3% (P< 0.01). And the treatment group was also significantly better than the control group in decreasing UA and CRP (P< 0.05 or P< 0.01).ConclusionsMST can significantly improve the symptoms and signs of gouty arthritis and decrease the levels of UA and CRP. It is good for gouty arthritis
Programmatic and performance observations for Two Chamber Works by Chen Yi
No full textAs a Chinese-American composer who was born and reared in China, then studied and settled in the United States, Chen Yi’s success is widely recognized around the world. However, this success is not coincidental and is closely related to her fusion of the Chinese and Western cultures in her works. At the time of this writing, Chen Yi has composed more than forty chamber works, from which the author researched two with the same instrumentation—flute, clarinet, violin, cello, and piano. By understanding Chen Yi’s life experiences and analyzing the theoretical aspects of these compositions, the author gives suggestions for ensemble, timbre, rhythm, pedaling, and performance techniques in these two chamber works by Chen Yi—Happy Rain on a Spring Night and … as like a raging fire
