3′-end processing of precursor M1 RNA by the N-terminal half of RNase E
AbstractM1 RNA, the catalytic component of Escherichia coli RNase P, is derived from the 3′-end processing of precursor M1 RNA, a major transcript of the rnpB gene. In this study, we investigated the mechanism of 3′-end processing of M1 RNA using the recombinant N-terminal half RNase E. The cleavage site preference of RNase E differed from that of the 40% ammonium sulfate precipitate (ASP-40), a partially purified cell extract containing processing activity. However, the addition of a trace amount of ASP-40 changed the cleavage site preference of RNase E to that of ASP-40 suggesting the involvement of a soluble factor in cleavage site preference
Processing of M1 RNA at the 3 end protects its primary transcript from degradation
M1 RNA, the catalytic subunit of Escherichia coli RNase P, is an essential ribozyme that processes the 5' leader sequence of precursor tRNAs. It is generated by the removal of 36 nucleotides from the 3' end of the primary rnpB transcript (pM1 RNA), but the biological significance of this reaction in bacterial metabolism remains obscure. In this study, we constructed and analyzed bacterial strains carrying mutations in the rne-dependent site of their rnpB genes, showing that the 3' processing of M1 RNA is essential for cell viability. Furthermore, we demonstrate that pM1 RNA can undergo not only 3' processing but also poly(A)-dependent degradation. Therefore, our results suggest that the 3' processing of M1 RNA provides a functional mechanism for the protection of its primary transcript against degradation
Kinetic analysis of precursor M1 RNA molecules for exploring substrate specificity of the N-terminal catalytic half of RNase E
To gain insight into the mechanism by which the sequence at the rne-dependent site of substrate RNA affects the substrate specificity of Escherichia coli RNase E, we performed kinetic analysis of the cleavage of precursor M1 RNA molecules containing various sequences at the rne-dependent site by the N-terminal catalytic half of RNase E (NTH-RNase E). NTH-RNase E displayed higher K-m and k(cat) values for more specific substrates. The retention of single strandedness at the rne-dependent site was essential for cleavage efficiency. Moreover, the loss of single-strandedness was accompanied by a decrease in both the K-m and k(eat) values
A 21 fJ/Conversion-Step 100 kS/s 10-bit ADC With a Low-Noise Time-Domain Comparator for Low-Power Sensor Interface
This paper presents a 100 kS/s, 1.3 mu W, 9.3 ENOB successive approximation ADC with a time-domain comparator. The proposed time-domain comparator utilizes a differential multi-stage VCDL, resulting in a highly digital operation eliminating static power consumption. The effects of gain, noise, and offset are also investigated by detailed analysis which proves the feature of reducing the input-referred noise and offset by simply increasing the number of delay stages. For verification, the proposed ADC is fabricated in a 0.18 mu m CMOS. With a single supply voltage of 0.6 V, the ADC consumes 1.3 mu W at the maximum sampling rate of 100 kS/s. A 0.5-V, 1.47-mu W 40-kS/s 13-bit SAR ADC With Capacitor Error Compensation
A 13-bit successive approximation analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is presented for an ultralow-power sensor interface. Capacitor error compensation is achieved by swapping the roles of two identical capacitor banks in a digital-to-analog converter. The ADC is implemented in a standard 0.13-mu m CMOS. With a single supply voltage of 0.5 V and a rail-to-rail conversion range, the ADC dissipates 1.47 mu W at a sampling rate of 40 kS/s. Self-adjusting parameters of KS 90-1 and KS 98-1 controllers
Práce je zaměřena na praktické využití samočinného nastavování PID regulátorů firmy PMA. Konkrétně je práce zaměřena na regulátory KS 90-1 a KS 98-1. Provedení experimentů s regulátorem KS 90-1 je v simulačním prostředí BlueControl Expert a aplikace PMA Tune. Následná softwarová implementace řídících algoritmů v prostředí ET/KS98, je simulována v prostředí SIM/KS98 s regulátorem KS 98-1.The work is focused on practical on of self-adjusting PID regulators of company PMA. The work is pecifically focused on regulators KS 90-1 and KS 98-1. Execution with regulator KS 90-1 was done in simulation environment of BlueControl Expert and application PMA Tune. Leading chiral logarithms of KS→γγ and KS→γl+l− at two loops
AbstractWe obtain the leading divergences at two-loop order for the decays KS→γγ and KS→γl+l− using only one-loop diagrams. We then find the double chiral logarithmic corrections to the decay branching ratio of KS→γγ and to the decay rate for KS→γl+l−. It turns out that these effects are numerically small and therefore make a very small enhancement on the branching ratio and decay rate. We also derive an expression for the corrections of type logμ×LEC. Numerical analysis done for the process KS→γγ shows that these single logarithmic effects can be sizable but come with opposite signs with respect to the double chiral logarithms
Particle collision statistics in turbulent flows with kinematic simulation
Colliding droplets or particles in turbulent flows are important in applications ranging from rain formation in clouds to aerosol production in process engineering. To reduce the computational costs when simulating such flows, kinematic simulation (KS) is frequently applied as a cheap surrogate for direct numerical simulation (DNS) of the turbulent flow field. In this work, we provide for the first time a systematic validation of the particle collision statistics that result from KS. We show that while the particle collision frequencies for particles with different Stokes numbers are in good agreement with DNS reference data, a more detailed inspection of the flow field and particle concentration characteristics reveals significant differences between KS and DNS

Education to honesty should be based on giving a good example by Catholics, building organizations and associations, which in practice would take joint responsibility for public life. The church was and is a teacher of society. The article aims to show some aspects of the Church’s responsibility in the education of the society to honesty on the example of Blessed Fr. Bronisław Markiewicz. Fr. Markiewicz knew that the witness of Christian life has enormous power and is able to rebuild whole societies. The author shows in his article that religion – according to Fr. B. Markiewicz - is a value that fosters integrity, motivates and enriches the human personality, leading the way and directions for universal and fundamental values , including patriotic and civic ones.Wychowanie do uczciwości powinno polegać na dawaniu przez katolików dobrego przykładu, budowaniu organizacji i stowarzyszeń, które w praktyce podjęłyby współodpowiedzialność za życie publiczne. The implementation of control algorithms using the multifunctional industrial controller KS 98-1
Předmětem této práce je problematika multifunkčních průmyslových regulátorů. Cílem je prozkoumat některé z mnoha možností praktického využití nejen v průmyslu. Univerzálnost přístroje ještě doplňuje software od výrobce, který umožňuje úpravu konfigurace dle požadavků uživatele.Issues about multifunctional industrial controller are the subject of thesis. The main objective is to explore some ways of practical usage not only in industry. Versatility of device depends on software.
