Rekentechnische vergelijking WAB-GAB ontwerpgrafiek voor Projectbureau Zeeweringen

    No full text
Zeeweringen (PBZ

Quantitative analysis of methyl parathion pesticides in a polydimethylsiloxane microfluidic channel using confocal surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy

    No full text
A fast and ultra-sensitive trace analysis of methyl parathion pesticides in a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) microfluidic channel was investigated using confocal surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). A three-dimensional PDMS-based passive micromixer was fabricated for this purpose. This PDMS micromixer showed a high mixing efficiency because a strong chaotic advection was developed by the simultaneous vertical and transverse dispersion of the confluent streams. The confocal SERS signal was measured after methyl parathion pesticides were effectively adsorbed onto silver nanoparticles while flowing along the upper and lower alligator-teeth-shaped PDMS channel. A quantitative analysis of the methyl parathion pesticides was performed based on the measured peak height at 1246 cm(-1). Our method has a detection limit of 0.1 ppm. This value satisfies the requirement recommended by the Collaborative International Pesticides Analytical Council (CIPAC) for the determination of methyl parathion in pesticide formulations. This study demonstrates the feasibility of using confocal SERS for the highly sensitive detection of methyl parathion pesticides in a PDMS microfluidic channel

Electrical glow discharges and plasma parameter of planar sputtering system for silver target

    Get PDF
DC planar sputtering system is characterized by varying discharge potential of (250-2000 volt) and Argon gas pressures of (3.5×10-2 – 1.5) mbar. The breakdown voltage for silver electrode was studied with a uniform electric field at different discharge distances, as well as plasma parameters. The breakdown voltage is a product of the Argon gas pressure inside the chamber and gab distance between the electrodes, represent as Paschen curve. The Current-voltage characteristics curves indicate that the electrical discharge plasma is working in the abnormal glow region. Plasma parameters were found from the current-voltage characteristics of a single probe positioned at the inter-cathode space. Typical values of the electron temperature and the electron density are in the range of (2.93 –5.3) eV and (10-16 -10-17) m-3 respectively

Metal Bioaccumulation and Biochemical Responses in Loggerhead Turtles (Caretta caretta) from the Gulf of Gabès (Tunisia)

    No full text
Caretta caretta (Cheloniidae, Cryptodira) is a species of turtle considered a ‘flagship species’ in the Mediterranean Sea. Unfortunately, the circular marine currents and semi-enclosed configuration of the Mediterranean Sea encourage the accumulation of pollutants (metals, pesticides, etc.) emitted by human activities. Tunisia suffers particularly from coastal urbanisation and industrial development. Metal concentrations (Ag, Al, As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb, Zn) were measured in distinct tissues (heart, kidney, liver, lung, muscle) of loggerhead turtles stranded in the Gulf of Gabès (Tunisia) to estimate the pollution levels in this emblematic species. High concentrations of arsenic and cadmium were found in marine turtles. Therefore, the differential accumulation of metals was measured in the tissues. For example, the liver appears to be a preferential organ for the accumulation of copper, iron, silver and zinc. In contrast, cobalt and cadmium were more concentrated in the kidneys, while arsenic, chromium and nickel were mainly found in the muscles. Antioxidant enzyme responses (catalase, GPx and SOD) and lipid peroxidation were more expressed in the liver and kidneys than in the muscles

Optical properties show high transparency of about 70% and decrease to 55 % at lower oxidation temperature . Optical band gab of prepared film at optimum condition is about 2.88 and 2.92 eV. Surface morphology measured using AFM give a triangle like structure with average roughness of (2.65 nm). The X-ray diffraction insures the formation of polycrystalline silver oxide nanostructure thin film

The Transmission of Japanese Financial Shocks: Evidence from International Bank Claims on East Asian Economies

    No full text
Since Japanese banks have been the major creditors in Asia, Japan has been a notable source of regional macroeconomic fluctuations. This study explores the patterns of Japanese bank claims in East Asian economies, focusing on the transmission effects of Japanese financial shock via international bank claims. The author finds that international lending by Japanese banks differed substantially from that of other major lenders. The study also suggests that the banking shocks captured by the Japanese stock market decline and nonperforming loans were transmitted throughout other East Asian economies via lending activity by Japanese banks. This association was found to be statistically significant.East Asia, financial shock, international bank lending, Japanese banking crisis, transmission effect,
