The current labour market needs sustainable organisations in human, technological and environmental terms. The rapid transformations that take place on a daily basis, and the constant search for personnel with transversal competences, lead to a rethinking of the resources needed for the development of organisations and organizational well-being. The objective of this research is to analyse the impact of Human Resources Management practices on job satisfaction and on the moderator role of proactive seeking challenges skills on this relationship. The study was carried out on 152 subjects, about 60% female and 40% male, with prevalent age in the class between 35 and 50 years. The results obtained by means of non-parametric Structural Equation Models (PLS-SEM) indicate that Human Resources practices showed a positive relationship with proactive challenge seeking behaviour (job crafting)and job satisfaction at Time 2. The estimates were validated by bootstrap resampling performed through 1000 resubmissions. In addition, the study highlights the moderating role of seeking challenges in the relationship between Human Resources Management practices and job satisfaction. The evidence provide important reflection, as it leads to rethinking strategically the adoption of appropriate practices to manage the workforce, ensuring personal growth and quality of organizational life and well-being

Recent environmental and socio-economic issues, required companies to adopt sustainability practices safeguarding the ecosystem. Agri-food is particularly concerned, since food production and delivery have a high impact on the environment and society. Companies are investing in a digitization journey, surfing the flow of the transition from the technocentric vision of technology to a synergistic one, which involves the social and environmental dimensions of sustainability, promoting the shirt of Industry 4.0 paradigm toward the new Industry 5.0. The purpose of this article is to explore the role of Industry 4.0 technologies during the implementation of sustainability practices in the agri-food industry. A systematic literature review was carried out, according to the PRISMA flowchart and ten several data sets were analyzed using scientometric analysis and Bibliometrix. The main characteristics of the research field, the current research routes and the capability of each Industry 4.0 pillar to drive sustainability were identified. A synthesis map of the current agri-food sustainability practices technology-based and a list of suggestions to apply Industry 4.0 technologies in social and economic dimensions of sustainability were proposed. All these results contribute to the foundation for the young research field of Industry 5.0. Theoretical and practical implications, limits, and follow-ups were debated

Human Resources Management Practices Perception and Extra-Role Behaviors: The Role of Employability and Learning at Work

Human Resource Management (HRM) processes are considered the beating heart of any successful organization. Recently, several studies have highlighted how organizations can use commitment-oriented HR practices to generate organizational and individual effectiveness. The aim of this study was to verify whether the perception of HRM practices could be able to elicit extra-role behaviors and, at the same time, whether this relationship could be mediated by employability and learning conditions. The analyses were carried out on a sample of 1219 Italian workers using Structural Equation Models. The structural model yielded good fit indices and the results showed a significant and positive effect of the perception of HRM practices on both employability and learning. However, the perception of HRM practices is not directly associated with extra-role behaviors, but only through the effect of both mediators (full mediation). Practical implications about the importance of creating working conditions that are adequately oriented to the development of individual skills in order to produce indirect beneficial effects on the organization are discussed

Social Resources and Emotional Exhaustion: The Role of Communication in Professional Relationships

CC BY-NC-ND 4.0Communication is an element that permeates the lives of individuals, from birth to death. Through it, it is possible to create new shared meanings, relationships, and social networks. The importance of the communication process emerges in different contexts, one of which is undoubtedly the work context: several types of research have affirmed that efficient organizational communication produces positive outcomes at the level of workers and organizations, such as increased work commitment, satisfaction, and the reduction of phenomena such as emotional exhaustion and cynicism. Starting from the theoretical framework of the Job Demands-Job Resources model, which divides the characteristics of each work context according to two general categories – namely job demands (representing workers’ efforts in performing their job tasks) and job resources (facilitating aspects of work that can provide opportunities for personal growth) – the aim of this research is to explore the role of communication between colleagues and superiors in the relationship between a job resource (increased social resources) and a negative outcome, such as emotional exhaustion, by means of a non-parametric structural equation model (PLS-SEM), in a sample of 479 workers. Reliable structural and measurement models yielded excellent fit indices of the hypothesized latent variables. The results show that, for workers, enhancing social resources by asking for feedback from colleagues and bosses does not protect against the risks of emotional exhaustion, but in fact improves communication. The exclusive use of social resources at work does not have a significant impact on the risk of emotional exhaustion if it is not accompanied by perceived communication appropriate to the circumstances and contexts. Communication, therefore, fully mediates the relationship between increased social resources and emotional exhaustion and stands out as a crucial protective factor

Correlating organizational well-being and performance assessment in public sector organization: managerial implications from Italy

The concept of public value is related to different dimensions among which work and performance are of particular importance. In this work, we consider organizational well-being and the role of managerial support with reference to work, and citizens’ satisfaction as a relevant factor in measuring and evaluating public performance. Using the data collected through 175 questionnaires administered to the employees of an Italian municipality, this study applies a Mediation Model to analyze the factors influencing the organizational well-being and the role of managerial support, and a Principal Component Analysis to investigate the relationship between organizational well-being and citizens’ satisfaction. The results show that the lack of managerial support can induce civil servants to develop proactive behaviors, which, in turn, can lead to improve citizens’ satisfaction. Consequently, we suggest the implementation of an adequate performance management system that allow managers the possibility of "remote" control which leads to civil servants’ autonomy for a better perceived local governments performance by citizen
