    14. Pediobius narangae Sheng & Wang, 1994 (Figs 13, 33 e) Pediobius narangae Sheng & Wang, 1994: 102 –103; ♀♂. Holotype ♀, IZCAS, examined. Diagnosis. Antennal flagellum brownish yellow (Fig. 13 a). Scape, pedicel and coxae concolorous with body, metallic blue green. Frontofacial sutures strongly obtuse, about 140° (Fig. 33 e). Scutellum broader than long. Female femora dark brown with dark blue reflections basally but male femora more vividly green; tibiae dark brown basally and merging to pale brown or brownish yellow apically. Female gaster slender, and narrower than mesosoma; large Gt1 occupying about 2/3 length of gaster, with very slightly elongate reticulation posteromedially. Material examined. Holotype ♀, CHINA, Jiangxi, Nanchang, Meiling, VIII.1973, coll. Jin-Kun Sheng (IZCAS), ex. the pupae of Naranga aenescens (Moore). Paratypes: 3♀ 1♂, same data as the holotype. Biology. The type specimens of P. narangae were reared from the pupae of Naranga aenescens (Moore) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). Distribution in China. Jiangxi. Remarks. Until now, P. narangae has only been known from its type specimens. In the original description, Sheng & Wang (1994) stated that P. narangae was similar to P. inexpectatus. Although P. inexpectatus is not assigned to a specie group because of the limited number of species treated in this study, we refer both species as belonging to different species groups and we include P. narangae in the facialis -group based on its morphological similarities with P. narangae and P. tortricida. Pediobius inexpectatus can be distinguished from the facialis -group by distinct notauli and reduced dorsellum (see also remarks under P. inexpectatus). The antennae of P. narangae and P. tortricida are stouter than that of P. facialis. Both P. narangae and P. tortricida have antennal flagellum and tibia light-colored (Figs 13 b, 14c). Compared with P. tortricida, female femora of P. narangae is dark brown only with dark blue reflections basally (Fig. 13 b). Besides characters given in the key, females of P. narangae has scutellum broader than long. Pediobius narangae can be easily separated from P. facialis and P. tortricida by the strongly obtuse-angled frontofacial sutures (see couplet 28 of the key).Published as part of Cao, Huan-Xi, Salle, John La & Zhu, Chao-Dong, 2017, Chinese species of Pediobius Walker (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae), pp. 1-71 in Zootaxa 4240 (1) on page 33, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.37575

    5. Pediobius grisescens Sheng & Wang, 1994 (Fig. 5) Pediobius grisescens Sheng & Wang, 1994: 103 –104; ♀. Holotype ♀, IZCAS, examined. Diagnosis. Coxae metallic green, femora dark brown and basal three fourths with metallic blue green reflections, tibiae brownish yellow (Fig. 5 b). Three funicular segments freely separated by narrow petioles, and almost subequal to each other in length and width, rectangle (Fig. 5 c). Mesoscutum and scutellum coarsely reticulate. Material examined. Holotype ♀, CHINA, Jiangxi, Nanchang, 12.V.1984, coll. Rong-Wu Shen (IZCAS), ex. the larvae of Galerucella grisescens (Joannis). Paratypes: 4♀, same data as the holotype. Biology. The type specimens of P. grisescens were reared from the larvae of Galerucella grisescens (Joannis) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae). Distribution in China. Jiangxi. Remarks. Pediobius grisescens is similar to the Japanese species P. iwatai in morphology and biology, which P. iwatai agrees well with characters in diagnosis of the cassidae -group. The type specimens of both species were reared from the beetle eggs or larvae of Chrysomelidae (Coleoptera). Pediobius grisescens and P. iwatai mainly differ in the following combination of characters: in P. grisescens, body metallic blue, PMV longer than STV, submedian area broader than long, and Gt1 hardly reaching mid-length of gaster; while in the latter, body black, PMV very short and shorter than STV, submedian area longer than broad, and Gt1 covering a little more than half length of gaster. However, we don't have an opportunity to examine the type specimens of P. iwatai. The further studies on the type specimens of P. iwatai are necessary to discuss their relationships.Published as part of Cao, Huan-Xi, Salle, John La & Zhu, Chao-Dong, 2017, Chinese species of Pediobius Walker (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae), pp. 1-71 in Zootaxa 4240 (1) on pages 18-19, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.37575

    33. Pediobius polychrosis Sheng & Wang, 1994 (Fig. 30) Pediobius polychrosis Sheng & Wang, 1994: 103; ♀. Holotype ♀, IZCAS, examined. Diagnosis. Legs except tarsi dark brown with slight dark green reflections. Collar of pronotum not margined anteriorly, but distinctly delimited from reticulate neck. In both female and male, gaster truncate ovate, with following gastral tergites usually concealed by large Gt1; Gt1 with longitudinal meshes medially (Figs 30 a–c). Material examined. Holotype ♀, CHINA, Jiangxi, An-Fu, 2.X.1984, coll. Shui-Sheng Chen (IZCAS), ex. Polychrosis cunninghamiacola Liu & Pai. Paratypes 4♀, same data as the holotype. Other materials: CHINA, Jiangsu: 2♀ 1♂, Nanjing, Nanjing Forest Institute, VI.1982, coll. Qu-Xian Peng, ex. Polychrosis cunninghamiacola Liu & Pai; 1♀1♂, Xuzhou, 1978, ex. the pupae of Polychrosis cunninghamiacola Liu & Pai. Biology. In China, the type specimens and the other examined specimens of P. polychrosis were all reared from Polychrosis cunninghamiacola (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae). Distribution in China. Jiangxi, Jiangsu. Remarks. Pediobius polychrosis is similar to P. mitsukurii in stout body, reticulate mesoscutum and scutellum, truncated gaster, and large Gt1 with distinct longitudinal meshes. With careful observations, many differences will be found between them: in P. polychrosis, flagellum, femora and tibiae dark brown with dark green reflections, occiput sharply margined between eyes, lateral corners of pronotum not prominent, and two lateral foveae on dorsellum strongly reduced (Figs 30 a–c); while for P. mitsukurii, flagellum, femora and tibiae pale, occiput more blunt and only margined behind each posterior ocellus (but male has occiput distinctly margined), lateral corners of pronotum strongly prominent, and two lateral foveae on dorsellum strikingly large (but reduced in male) (Figs 29 a– c). Compared with P. mitsukurii, P. polychrosis is closer to P. facialis because they share similar short female antennae and reticulate sculpture on mesoscutum and scutellum, which their males appear more similar than females (Figs 12 c, 30c). Pediobius polychrosis is easily distinguished from P. facialis by truncated gaster with Gt2-7 nearly concealed by Gt 1 in both females and males (Figs 30 a–c). Males of P. polychrosis has F3 transverse (Fig. 30c) and males of P. facialis has F3 longer than broad (Fig. 12 f). As discussed under P. mitsukurii, additional evidence is necessary to discuss their relationships further. See the key (couplet 24) and also remarks under P. mitsukurii.Published as part of Cao, Huan-Xi, Salle, John La & Zhu, Chao-Dong, 2017, Chinese species of Pediobius Walker (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae), pp. 1-71 in Zootaxa 4240 (1) on pages 61-62, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.37575
