Blockchain-based applications in insurance
Blockchain has the power to change how insurance firms conduct business. Blockchain can help operators to save money and time, improve transparency, abide by rules, and develop better goods and markets. Insurers are inherently competitive in a highly competitive market where both individual and corporate customers expect the highest profitability and a superior online experience. In the insurance sector, blockchain technology represents an excellent transformational and growth opportunity. Insurance can be purchased through a blockchain account, which provides greater automation and a tamper-proof audit trail through the use of smart contracts and decentralised applications on Ethereum. The low cost of smart contracts and associated fees, in particular, means that many items will be more competitive in limited markets in developing countries. Ultimately, the burgeoning blockchain economy will need its own insurance. Cyber insurance covers coverage (technology and software projects) with extensions and approvals for monetary losses (hot wallets and exchanges), species and crime (cold wallets and vaults), professional liability (developers), and guarantors can be used as a template for [1]. This study reveals the most fascinating aspects of blockchain technology that have paved new opportunities for the insurance industry using blockchain technology. This research addresses the use of smart contracts in blockchains, where information is secure and automated so that a specific type of payment contract can be entered into without human intervention. It also discusses the challenges and concerns that insurance companies may have with regard to the use of blockchain technology. Assessment of small interactions and structural gradient at the interface of FRP composites by FTIR-imaging and DSC techniques
Environmental degradation of FRP composite was studied. The degradation study basically included hygrothermal and cryogenic treatment. Study of chemical and mechanical behaviour at the interface of the fibre reinforced polymer composites is an area of research now a day. Many complex reactions occur at the interface due to moisture absorption, temperature and cryogenic treatment and very little information is available regarding the chemical deviation near the interface due to moisture absorption. Micro-composites were prepared to investigate the chemical deviation of hygrothermally samples and layered structures were prepared to study the mechanical behaviour of cryogenically treated samples
Parallel Serverless Workloads in OpenWhisk on Kubernetes
Recent advances in virtualisation technology have resulted in the widespread use of Serverless computing, which provides the ability to programme and administer the cloud in an autoscaling, pay-as-you-go fashion. The platform handles the invocation, execution, and scaling of a function thereby, managing the complete lifecycle of a function. The most famous offering of Serverless computing is Function as a Service (FaaS). Though FaaS provides ease of use, and flexibility it also possesses significant overheads such as vendor-lock-ins, complex pricing models, functional restrictions, and security. In this paper, an open-source serverless framework has been proposed which uses Apache OpenWhisk as FaaS on a single master multi-worker Kubernetes cluster deployed on private cloud NCI OpenStack. The results show that OpenWhisk deployed on Kubernetes works seamlessly on OpenStack with the proposed framework and performs better when the compute intensive workloads are parallelised for C++, Java and Go. The computed results not only demystify the feasibility of OpenWhisk on Kubernetes but also checks the resource utilisation and performance of the system for parallelised workloads
