    No full text
The proposed research involves, a design and implementation of DC source fed improved Dual output Buck-Boost converter for agricultural and industrial applications. It consists of step up and step-down converter, DC-link module. Compared with conventional two converters, the designed system results in reduction of voltage tension across the switches, compact power switches, DC source reckoning and reduced inrush current. DC-link switching is achieved by reduced ripple voltage which results in improved quality of obtained output power. Reduction in switch count makes the system more cost effective. In addition, the motor speed is regulated by PI controller. Brushless DC Motor produce torque ripple and cause mechanical vibration, acoustic noise due to structural imperfectness and control system, to overcome this suppression control method of vibration for brushless DC motor utilizing feedforward compensation with Fourier transform utilizing a vibration signal acquired by an acceleration sensor attached to the motor frame is proposed. A simulation and prototype model of Dual output Buck-Boost converter is developed, and its performance is analysed for various operating conditions

In this era worldwide businesses have recognized the impact of their business activities on society. Organizations have realized that economic advantage alone will not help them to stay in business market for a longer run. They have realized the need to implement sustainable strategies like corporate social responsibility into their core business activities. Business sustainability can be achieved only by integrating unique corporate social responsibility practices in core business strategies which ensures economic development realizing the enterprises objectives as well. There is a myth that CSR hones are for the most part embraced by multinational undertakings, but the part of SMEs isn't irrelevant considering their economical part and their essential relationship with the local communities. There is a belief among SMEs that practicing or adopting social responsibility initiatives may impact their profit as CSR will increase the cost and thus reduce profit. In reality enterprises adopted social initiatives gets benefited profit sustainability

    No full text
Entomopathogenic fungi, Beauveria bassiana and Metarhizium anisopliae were isolated and identified as natural pathogens of Calopepla leayana. Both the species of fungi were effective against the larval and adult stages of C. leayana causing white and green muscardine diseases respectively. It was also found that B. bassiana was more pathogenic to the pest as compared to M. anisopliae.  The susceptibility of larvae and adults was negatively associated with the age and positively associated with the fungal spore concentration. In all the stages from I instar to adult, the highest mortality was observed in 10% of 1x109 spores/ml concentration of B. bassiana among 1, 2.5, 5 & 10% of 1x109 spores/ml concentration.  It was also reflected in probit analysis that the concentration of spores required to kill fifty percent of the population was ranges from 0.09% to 5.98% of 1x109 spores/ml concentration of B. bassiana and 1.02% to 9.72% of 1x109 spores/ml concentration of M. anisopliae. The larvae of I instar have shown highest mortality, which gradually decreased with the increase in age or decrease in the concentration of fungal spores. Mass production of B. bassiana using different substrates was attempted to harvest ample amount of spores. This study revealed that spore production was directly proportional to the mycelial weight and incubation period. From the seven substrates tested, wheat flour was identified as one of the suitable substrates for the mass production of B. bassiana.  A field trial was conducted to test their efficacy under field conditions. 72-93% mortality was observed in field conditions.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Division of Bioprospecting, Institute of Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding, Coimbatore-641002, Tamilnadu, India*Corresponding author, Email: [email protected] This Article As: N. Facile and One Pot Synthesis of Gold Nanoparticles Using Tetraphenylborate and Polyvinylpyrrolidone for Selective Colorimetric Detection of Mercury Ions in Aqueous Medium

    No full text
In this work, we reported for the first time, a facile and one step synthesis of gold nanoparticles from HAuCl4, employing tetraphenylborate as the reducing agent. The synthesis is not only facile but also yields “dumb-bell-shaped”particles. This shape appears to arise from a possible emulsion of the products of oxidation/decomposition of tetraphenylborate by HAuCl4, surrounding the particle. The size and shape of the AuNPs were characterized by Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and UV-visible Spectroscopy. Interestingly, the addition of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) during the synthesis was found to enhance the stability of the nanoparticle dispersion. The particles synthesized under these conditions assume “spherical” shape with the appearance of only transverse surface plasmon resonance band. The highlight of the observations is that the gold nanoparticles synthesized using tetraphenylborate as reducing agent and PVP as stabilizer are highly stable in alkaline medium, in contrast to the synthesis wherein borohydride is used as reducing agent. The AuNPs synthesized using tetraphenylborate and PVP show their mercury sensing behavior only in the alkaline medium. The color of the nanoparticle dispersion undergoes distinct color change from pink to blue with the addition of mercury ions. They also show dramatic selectivity to mercury ions in presence of other interfering ions, Pb2+, Zn2+ and Ca2+
