Serene was founded in 2022 as a sole proprietorship by five (5) female students at De La Salle University Integrated School - Laguna since it would be optimal for a freshly formed business, entailing lower start-up costs and being easy to administer. The business went from Php 25,000 starting capital, with each member contributing Php 5,000 to gross sales of Php 79,837 as of July 12, 2023. Despite many direct competitors, Serene\u27s product stands out as it was the first to introduce scented silk sleepwear. Digital marketing also plays a significant part in the business using Serene\u27s customized website and social media accounts: Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Presently, the group is offering bigger sizes and releasing more collections to suit a broader range of customers. Other product diversifications include a new scent, scrunchy, and silk sleepwear pajama set, funded solely by Serene\u27s earnings. All this progress was made possible by the collaborative efforts of suppliers and the hard work of Serene\u27s key personnel, led by the owner, Ms. Angel Noraine Castillo, and the heads of Operations, Marketing, Finance, and Human Resources, namely Ms. Daniella De Torres, Ms. Anne Berlyn Blanqueza, Ms. Margarita Sophia Malabanan, and Ms. Ann Margareth Bella, respectively. It is only the beginning of something serene as the group intends to continue the business and remain committed to its mission of making good sleep accessible to Filipinos through quality, affordable, eco-friendly innovation that places importance on customers\u27 well-being

The impact of “fearful” and “serene” mood on mortality salience
Get PDFSeventy-eight participants were randomly assigned to receive either a serene, neutral, or fearful mood induction, followed by either a neutral salience or mortality salience induction. After these manipulations, participants read a political essay that opposed their world view. Participants then completed several measures examining how much they liked/did not like the author of the essay, along with a measure assessing their opinion on an ethnic out-group. It was hypothesized that participants who received the serene mood induction would derogate the author of the opposing essay and ethnic out-group members significantly less than those who received the fearful or neutral mood manipulation. After conducting a 2 x 3 ANOVA, no significant interactions were found between mood and salience, but there were several main effects of mood and salience that approached significance. However, exploratory analysis revealed that participants in the fearful mood condition derogated the ethnic out-group significantly more than those in the neutral or serene mood conditions. Additionally, participants in the mortality salience condition derogated the author of the essay significantly more than those in the neutral salience condition
Attenuation of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 cytopathic effects by replacing a 424-bp region of envelope from a noncytopathic biological clone
Get PDFWe analyzed the env genes of cytopathic and noncytopathic biological clones derived from two HIV-1-infected children with discordant clinical courses. Chimeric viruses were constructed by switching env regions from V2 through V3 of the biological clones with the corresponding region from the molecular clone NL4-3. These HIV-1 chimeric viruses exhibited similar replication kinetics as well as syncytium-inducing abilities. The chimeric virus containing the env region of noncytopathic biological clone, GC6 8-4, was noncytopathic in an in vitro cell-killing assay, while the chimeric virus containing the env region of cytopathic biological clone, HC4, was cytopathic in the in vitro cell-killing assay. These studies suggest the presence of a cytopathicity determinant that maps to the envelope sequences contained within the downstream region of V2 and within the V3 region (nucleotide position 6822 to nucleotide position 7250, based on NL4-3 sequence)
