Sega Genesis Console
Following little success with various iterations of their first console, Sega released the Genesis in 1988 to better compete with the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Still, competition was fierce in Japan. What facilitated its success overseas, however, was the 1991 release of Sonic the Hedgehog, Sega's best selling video game still today--and one of the best selling of all time, across all platforms. Ultimately, Sonic helped establish the Sega Genesis as a key player in the 16-bit era at the start of the fourth generation of at-home video game consoles

Sega Dreamcast Console
A Dreamcast, Sega's fifth and final major at-home video game console. It was a proprietary GD-ROM (gigabyte disc read-only memory) console, released as a more cost-effective alternative to others in the sixth generation, such as Sony's PlayStation 2. But it could not compete and after being discontinued in 2001, Sega officially withdrew from the console business. Despite its short lifespan, the Sega Dreamcast was the first console to pioneer concepts of online play and downloadable content--and is celebrated still today for these innovations in the video game industry

Sega Genesis MK-1631 Model 2 Console
Sega is a provider of various entertainment products including digital contents, home video games, amusement machines, animation products, toys, and more. Instead of looking at other games machines when designing the Sega Genesis MK-1631 Model 2 Console, designers drew influence from high-end audio equipment and performance cars that would appeal to both children and adults. Certain games knowingly courted a more mature demographic, and Sega's approach to both their hardware and games was driven by a wish to expand its audience beyond young children, creating this sleek product.Banks, Tom. 1 Nov. 2014, “The Design History of the Sega Mega Drive.” Design Week (Online Edition), https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&AuthType=shib&db=bth&AN=99424319&site=eds-live&custid=s1190300 “MarketLine Company Profile: Sega Sammy Holdings Inc.” 28 Oct. 2022, Sega Sammy Holdings Inc.
