Alena Mornstajnova?s language and the style of her novels
This bachelor thesis deals with the language analysis of all novels by Alena Mornštajnová published so far. They include the following novels: Slepá mapa, Hotýlek, Hana, and Tiché roky. The author is understood to be a phenomenon of current literature. The thesis consists of two main parts - a theoretical one and a practical one. The first part inspects not only the characteristics of artistic functional style, but also the author´s biography. The practical part is divided into three plans: a thematic one, composition one and a linguistic one. The greatest attention is dedicated to the last plan. It examines language resources from the perspective of individual layers, which are the phonetic, morphological, lexical or syntactic layer. The objective of this bachelor thesis is to find out what changes language resources in the individual works by Alena Mornštajnová have gone through
Application of the Engineered Artificial Mineral approach to the pyrometallurgical recycling of lithium-ion batteries
The recovery of critical elements from the waste stream is becoming increasingly important in today's society to create an independent secondary source of raw materials. A promising starting point for lithium recovery is the pyrometallurgical processing of spent lithium-ion batteries. While this process can efficiently recover other valuable materials such as cobalt, nickel or copper, lithium is lost in the resulting slag. Preliminary studies have shown that the lithium in these slags primarily reacts with aluminum to form lithium aluminate (LiAlO₂), which can be successfully recovered. However, the formation of this phase is disturbed by manganese- and aluminum-rich spinels. In this work, the Engineered Artificial Minerals (EnAM) approach is used to develop potential strategies for lithium recovery. This method deals with the optimization of a phase system by enriching the target elements as completely as possible in a chemically simple compound suitable for recovery. In particular, the crystallization behavior of lithium-rich phases in synthetically produced slags is studied to optimize the enrichment processes of these compounds during solidification or to avoid factors that interfere with the formation of these compounds. For this purpose, lithium-rich phases (EnAMs) with ideal properties for efficient recovery, such as high enrichment efficiency of the target element, must first be identified. By changing the parameters (atmosphere, chemistry), the formation of the lithium-rich phase should be supported to avoid the incorporation of lithium into other phases and thus maximize the subsequent recovery. The synthetic slags studied were prepared by a modified application of the sol-gel process with the aim to obtain a homogeneous multi-elemental starting material for the melting experiments. In addition to X-ray based methods, spectroscopic methods were also used for the mineralogical characterization of the slags produced. The slags produced show that the crystallization sequence of the phases is determined by the manganese species (between Mn2+ and Mn4+). Despite the variation of the parameters, the crystallization of lithium-manganates was observed next to a manganese-rich spinel (hausmannite) in a calcium-silicate matrix. LiMnO2 (Mn3+) crystallized in all slags, a phase already used as cathode material in lithium-ion batteries ("lithium manganese dioxide cell"). In addition, the formation of Li2MnO3 (Mn4+) was found due to the use of pure oxygen during the melting experiment and the low addition of magnesium in the system. However, the stabilization of different amounts of various manganese species is an issue in all experiments, where up to three different manganese species (Mn2+ to Mn4+) were stabilized and manganese-rich spinels were crystallized. Based on the obtained results, it is shown that the targeted growth of lithium-manganate crystals provides an approach to recover lithium from the slags produced during pyrometallurgical processing. However, the redox sensitive behavior of manganese needs to be better understood to maximize the crystallization of these lithium-manganates

As noted above under the generic description, all superficially similar species to Alena alena sp. n. are unrelated and can be promptly differentiated by their structural features (Figs 11–13, 16–18). In addition, Metopiora sanguinata (T.P. Lucas, 1893) also shows a pink band longitudinally crossing the forewing all through the middle (Fig. 8), which does not occur in the new species. Description (Figs 1–4). Wingspan 27–31 mm (holotypus 28 mm), length of forewing 13–15 mm (N = 14). Head and thorax whitish-pale straw-coloured, irregularly suffused with pink, particularly on legs; labial palpus pale brown-tipped, antenna pale ochre. Forewing with feebly acute apex, ground colour straw, with pink suffusion all along costal, anal and terminal edges, narrowest along the latter; fringe pink; hindwing straw-coloured also, with feeble brown irroration on disc and along veins, and fringe varying from straw to whitish-pale pink. Wing undersides patternless, with extensive dark grey suffusion on forewing. Male genitalia (Figs 9, 10). Overall configuration as in generic diagnosis. Tegumen dome-shaped, vinculum Vshaped with voluminous, broadly rounded saccus; valva of approximately uniform width, with distinctly concave costa, sacculus broad and elongated, clavus indistinct, costal plate broad, strongly sclerotized; clasper as in generic diagnosis; cucullus evenly rounded, its setae dense and long. Uncus as in generic description. Juxta rhomboid, slightly bilobed superiorly and irregularly sclerotised inferiorly. Aedeagus slightly reclinate at middle, broadly rounded distally on right side, where few minute carinal spines are present, vesica sub-quadrate, terminal cornuti field arranged into a narrow stripe. Female genitalia (Figs 14, 15). Segment A8 well sclerotised, truncate cone-shaped and relatively short, firmly linked with posterior section of ductus bursae, apophyses anteriores relatively long and robust, ductus bursae of uniform width, conspicuously ridged, with posterior edge representing anterior lip of ostium bursae, joining with corpus bursae ventrally on posterior third, corpus bursae broadly ellipsoid, appendix bursae rugose. Intersegmental membrane A8–A9 short. Papillae anales typical for " Apameina ", broad and flat, shortly setose, albeit without distinct midventral rods, apophyses posteriores longer than anteriores, slightly thinner and with feebly arcuate tips. Variability. Variation has so far been observed in the degrees of extension of pink suffusion along costal edge of forewing, dark irroration on hindwing, development of distal process of clasper, length of uncus and relative dimensions of female genitalic structures. Biology and distribution. Series of males and females were all collected at light in August-September in remote parts of West Sichuan chinese province near Daocheng and Ba-Mei mountains of the Shaluli Shan range (Fig. 19). The new species was collected at altitudes ranging from 3,700 to 4,100 m in mixed forests dominated by various conifer trees and shrubs such as Rhododendron spp. All individuals have been attracted before midnight, with ambient temperature between 3–5°C. Presence of at least two spermatophores in each of the dissected females shows that they mated more than once. Etymology. The new species is named in honour of Alena Kazakevich (Lida, Belarus), for her deep understanding and support of the entomological activities of the second author. The name is a feminine noun in apposition. Remarks. A correct systematic placement of Alena alena gen. n., sp. n. will only be achieved following a thorough reassessment of the concepts for Apameina and Sesamiina. In fact, its lyriform ovipositor appears to be typical for Apameina, although the absence of evident midventral rods between its lobes is a shared similarity with Sesamiina, which have a sharply pointed conical ovipositor. Other similarities between A. alena and most sesamiine groups are the rough, somewhat puffy thoracic vestiture concealing the boundaries between the patagium, tegulae and notum, the absence of notal crests, the broad costa of the valva distally dilated into a plate, and the cucullus without a neck or corona (cf. Moyal & Le Rü, 2005; Moyal et al., 2011a, 2011b; Le Rü et al., 2015).Published as part of Gyulai, Peter, Saldaitis, Aidas & Zilli, Alberto, 2019, A new genus and species of Apameini (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) from Sichuan (China), pp. 593-600 in Zootaxa 4545 (4) on pages 595-599, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.4545.4.10, http://zenodo.org/record/261826
Interview with Alena Ledeneva: To Control a Level of Informality You Need the Targeted Therapy of Informal Practices
In the interview, Professor Alena Ledeneva discusses her research experience, current projects, and plans, and essentially presents her own programme for studying the worlds of informal economies through context-sensitive comparative ethnographic analysis. Beginning in the mid-1990s with a PhD dissertation on the role of blat in the functioning of the planned Soviet economy, today this research programme forms the basis of a unique empirical project for compiling the Encyclopaedia of the Informal World, involving 223 scholars from various countries. The case database collected in the Encyclopaedia… describes national versions of particular shadow practices, includes a list of the latest sociological and anthropological literature for analysing such practices, and is freely accessible to researchers.
The interview makes it clear how sensitivity to the methodological challenges of ethnography allows the author to move from retrospective study of a local empirical phenomenon to theorising. The conceptual insights that Professor Ledeneva reaches help to evaluate the quality of liberal reforms, including anti-corruption measures. She shows that when rigidity and double standards lie behind the façade of formal institutions, informal practices simultaneously contribute to both the formation and the destruction of social systems. Until the conflict between rules imposed from above and the responses from below is properly accounted for in socio-political transformations, speaking about minimising corruption will remain very difficult

Creating deliberation in the context of social conflict: the examination of mediator practices for shaping an interactivity in dispute mediation
The dissertation explored how deliberative activity is constructed within ongoing social conflict. The study examined mediator actions for keeping the disputants on task – that is, on negotiating plans about caring for their children. This focus enabled an empirical investigation of three interrelated theoretical interests: (1) how an institutionally preferred form of interactivity is constructed in the ongoing course of interaction, (2) the role of the mediator as an ostensible designer of communication activity, and (3) the relationship between interaction and reasoning. An existing
collection of 18 transcripts from audio recordings of mediation sessions at a mediation center in the western United States served as a source of interactional data. The participants of mediation sessions were eight mediators and 17 divorcing or divorced couples. The main focus of observation was on mediator communicative practices for keeping disputants on task. These were observed by attending to the word choices of mediators and their language actions evident across a corpus of transcripts. As the
dialogue quality is a mutual achievement of all the participants, not just the mediator, the center of attention was also on different linguistic and interactional resources disputants provide in the course of interaction. The simple categories were useful for getting at higher order concepts such as topics and dialogue activities. There were four main findings from the empirical study. First, an institutionally preferred form of interactivity is constructed ongoing, often implicit, negotiation of what is on or off task through the
uses of linguistic and interactional “materials” available in the moment to the participants. Second, mediators’ uses of language to make references, establish topics,
and launch dialogue activities are design moves that signal what is on-task and thus articulate the deliberative activity. Third, mediators construct their interventions in such a way as to balance concerns for face and the institutional goal for interaction. Fourth,
argument and reasoning are constituted through interaction that imposes various constraints on what contributions are appropriate in mediation talk.Ph.D.Includes bibliographical referencesIncludes vitaby Alena L. Vasilyev
Afrophone philosophies: possibilities and practice. The reflexion of philosophical influences in Euphrase Kezilahabi's Nagona and Mzingile
The paper is divided into two parts. In the first part, the basic concepts, such as “African philosophy” and “Afrophone philosophies”, their relationship and the general context of the debate on “African philosophy” will be defined. The author anticipate her definition here and says that “Afrophone philosophies”are those discourses that are the medium of philosophical reflexion in a given culture. Thus in the second part of the paper, Alena Rettová concentrates on one specific case of a philosophical reflexion, that of reflecting philosophical influences in the late works of Euphrase Kezilahabi, Nagona (1990) and Mzingile (1991)
