Connections Among Optimization Models with Uncertainties, ABC and RBV
Optimization models (in particular, with uncertainties) and Activity Based Costing (ABC) and Resource Based View (RBV) of the firm theory are usually separated in theory and applications. We analyze the connections among them, with a focus on stochastic programming, showing how they can all be used as decision support instruments for strategic planning problems, especially concerning resources and services (or products). Such connections produce a multiplicative positive effect as we can use the potential of mathematical modeling with data from the ABC system and a taxonomy of resources from the RBV: the latter can also help us for the interpretation of results after applying stochastic (or mathematical) models and solution methods

ABC MODEL FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF A FIRM
The activity-based costing (ABC) in service companies is considered for minimization companies expenses modeling the uncertainty of service demand in the statistical probabilistic way. The two-stage stochastic programming model is formulated and implemented obtaining the deterministic model as a particular case of the stochastic one. The model takes into account the relation among activities better as compared with other known ones, namely, coherently with the ABC system. The model involves a stochastic demand and a relative minimum level to be satisfied. A modified L-shaped algorithm is developed in order to solve this stochastic optimization model. The applications of the model developed to the hospital service and the Crown prosecution service are considered, too.</jats:p

In the original published version of this article, the affiliation of Antonio Giuliani, one of the author of the above is incorrect The correct affiliation should have been, “Department of Biotechnological and Applied Clinical Sciences, Department of General Surgery, University of L’Aquila, San Salvatore Hospital, L’Aquila, Italy” instead of “Department of Biotechnological and Applied Clinical Sciences, San Salvatore Hospital, ASL1 Pesaro, Italy”. Il banchetto dei giusti nel mondo a venire. Per la storia di un motivo ebraico
The article studies the reception of the topical reference to a banquet for the righteous in the world to come, attested vastly in the Rabbinical literature and being source of puzzlement for the philosophers and an exegetical challenge for the Kabbalists. In particular, its mention and interpretation in the work of Francesco Zorzi, In Scripturam Sacram Problemata (1526) is studied in detail, pointing to its sources and to the peculiar interpretation offered by the Christian Kabbalist of the Renaiccance
Lawyers on the Edge: What Happened to Rudy Giuliani?
Please join The Jacob Burns Center for Ethics in the Practice of Law for the second in their series of book talks, Lawyers on the Edge, with Andrew Kirtzman, author of Giuliani: The Rise and Tragic Fall of America\u27s Mayor.
Andrew Kirtzman, journalist and author, has been following the career of Rudy Giuliani since the 1990s. His new biography traces Giuliani from the beginning of his rise to his role as Donald Trump’s personal lawyer.
Professor Jessica Roth, Co-Director of the Jacob Burns Center for Ethics in the Practice of Law, will lead a discussion with Kirtzman about his book. This is the second in a series of book talks exploring the circumstances that led certain lawyers to choose their controversial clients and to examine how easy or difficult it would have been for them to back away from the edge.
