No full textThe subject of this paper is the rationalization of penalties imposed on the basis of petty offences law. The author briefly presents the directives and rules of imposing specified petty offences penalties and points out to the need to introduce changes in this area. The presented considerations lead to the conclusion that, in the face of the inevitable thorough amendments to the provisions of the petty offences code, the favorable solutions seem to be not only eliminating the basic arrest penalty and maintaining a substitute arrest penalty, but also eliminating the reprimand as the mildest penalty for petty offences. Moreover, the author indicates the necessity to increase the limits of the fine penalty and proposes a wider application of restriction of liberty penalty.Przedmiotem niniejszego opracowania jest zagadnienie racjonalizacji kar orzekanych na gruncie prawa wykroczeń. Autorka zwięźle przedstawia dyrektywy i zasady wymiaru poszczególnych kar za wykroczenia oraz wskazuje na potrzebę wprowadzenia zmian w tym zakresie. Przedstawione rozważania zasadniczo prowadzą do konstatacji, iż w obliczu nieuchronnej gruntownej nowelizacji unormowań kodeksu wykroczeń korzystne z punktu widzenia usprawnienia systemu kar za wykroczenia wydaje się nie tylko podnoszone przez doktrynę wyeliminowanie kary aresztu i pozostawienie do dyspozycji sędziego jedynie zastępczej kary aresztu w przypadku niewykonania innych kar, lecz także wyeliminowanie kary o charakterze symbolicznym, jaką jest nagana. Nadto autorka zauważa konieczność podwyższenia granic kary grzywny, które pozostają na niezmienionym poziomie od blisko ćwierćwiecza, oraz proponuje szersze zastosowanie kary ograniczenia wolności.

Differential expression of cyclin E, p63, and Ki-67 in gestational trophoblastic disease and its role in diagnosis and management: A prospective case–control study
No full textBackground: Gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD) constitutes a spectrum of tumors and tumor-like conditions, characterized by proliferation of pregnancy-associated trophoblastic tissue of progressive malignant potential. It is very difficult to differentiate these complex groups of lesions basing on histomorphology alone. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) with cyclin E, P63, and Ki-67 has a definite role in the identification of different trophoblasts and entities of GTD and also in the determination of biological behavior. Aims: The aim of this study is to find the differential expression of cyclin E, p63, and Ki-67 in normal placenta, hydropic abortus (HA), and various entities of GTD. Design and Settings: A prospective case–control study conducted in a government medical college. Methods: Total 96 cases, divided into Group A (48 histologically confirmed cases of GTD) and Group B (controls comprising 8 HA and 40 normal placentas of different trimesters), were studied. The histological samples were subjected to IHC using cyclin E, Ki-67, and p63. Statistical Analysis: Results were analyzed using SPSS statistical method. Results: Among the three immunomarkers used, Cyclin E and Ki-67 show statistically significant difference (P < 0.05) when compared between GTD and control groups, but it was insignificant for p63 (P = 0.369). Strong staining intensity of cyclin E and Ki-67 is seen in complete moles, choriocarcinoma, and placental site trophoblastic tumor. Conclusion: This study was done to evaluate the role of cell cycle regulatory proteins such as cyclin E and p63 and proliferation marker Ki-67 in the detection of various trophoblasts and differential diagnosis of the lesions associated with them
Design, fabrication, and characterization of lithium niobate whispering-gallery-mode microdisk and microring resonators and grating couplers
No full textLithium niobate (LiNbO3) is becoming popular in microelectronics and photonics research due to its exciting physical properties. Properties such as large electro-optic and piezoelectric coefficients make lithium niobate an excellent material for RF-photonics platforms that require center frequency tuning and large bandwidth for modulation. Photonic microresonators developed in LiNbO3 thin-films serve as the basic design unit of such platforms. This thesis provides preliminary characterizations of LiNbO3 whispering-gallery-mode microring and microdisk resonators, a single-ring filter, and grating couplers. The theory, simulation, fabrication, and experimental results of these devices are presented. Fabricated grating couplers with center wavelengths around 1560 nm are characterized and their insertion losses are explained. Microring and microdisk resonators with quality factors of 3-4 × 104 and a microring wavelength-dropping filter with a quality factor of 6.8 × 103 are demonstrated. Investigating the literary aspects of Kar-Namag i Ardashir i Pabagan in comparison with its new Greek narrative
No full textRecently, a new Greek version of Kar-Namag i Ardashir i Pabagan has been found, which is considered to be the oldest historical epic in Persian prose. In fact, this new narrative can be considered a summary of the Pahlavi text of Kar-Namag, which is written in a completely different style. The difference in the expression style of these two works is so obvious that it is inevitable to compare the most basic literary features of the two texts, and this comparison clearly shows the role and authoritative presence of the author of the Pahlavi text in the conscious and purposeful editing of the story. The present article aims to provide the text of the new Greek narrative and compare it with the Pahlavi text, and try to reread Kar-Namag i Ardashir i Pabagan as a literary text and make its general features distinct and bolder
