    No full text
The affair MATESA took place in 1969 when the newspapers reported that a well-known businessman had been jailed and that his firm had a debt of 10.000 millions pesetas with a state bank. It was a very exceptional case in the history of francoism because the media dealt freely with the affair for a couple of months and the Cortes created a committee wich made a very hard report for three former ministers (and a fourth one still active), who were prosccuted by the Supreme Court later on (except for the still current minister). The paper analyses how could this deeds be dealt publicly (for a limited period of time) in the dictatorship and makes some reflections on the similarities and differences between this case and the scandals that take place in democratic regimes.(Jiménez Sánchez

Bakalaura darba tēma ir „Vācu valodas salikteņu raksturojums hidroģeoloģijas nozarē un to ekvivalenti latviešu valodā”. Piemēri analīzei ņemti no Georga Matesa (Georg Mattheß) mācību grāmatas „Die Beschaffenheit des Grundwassers” 2. sējuma. Raksturojot vācu valodas salikteņus, tiek izpētītas to semantiskās attiecības starp komponentiem. Pētījuma beigās autore izveido pārskatu ar vācu valodas salikteņiem un to ekvivalentiem latviešu valodā. Pētījuma rezultātā autore secina, ka ļoti grūti ir piemeklēt atbilstošu ekvivalentu vācu valodas saliktenim latviešu valodā, lai tas būtu viennozīmīgs. Daudziem vācu valodas jēdzieniem nav ekvivalentu latviešu valodā, tāpēc autore ir veidojusi tiem nosaukumus (terminus) no jauna. The title of this bachelor paper is „Characterisation of German compounds in field hydrogeology and their equivalents in Latvian”. Examples are from textbook „Die Beschaffenheit des Grundwassers” 2. volume. The author of this book is Georg Mattheß. The goal of this work is to characterise and analyse German compounds and to find as far as possible suitable equivalents in Latvian. The tasks of this work are to copy out these German compounds, to explain the main concepts of this work, for example, compound, natural science etc. One of the important tasks is to investigate word-building in Latvian and German. The author also investigates all these problems which are characteristic for translating natural science texts. For characterisation of German compounds the author looks at semantic relationship between components. At the end she makes a list with all German compounds and their equivalents in Latvian. The results of this work show that it is so hard to find suitable equivalent in Latvian which is unambiguous. There are some equivalents in Latvian for German compounds, that’s why author builds new words (terms) to them

Darbā secināts, ka A. Vešņakova citātos ietvertajos Latvijas-Krievijas attiecību rāmējumos izmantota defensīva stratēģija un selektīva pieeja, vadoties pēc vēstījuma auditorijas lietotās valodas .The aim of the bachelor’s paper “Media diplomacy activities of Russia's ambassador to Latvia A. Veshnyakov: the aspect of bilateral relations between Russian Federation and the Republic of Latvia (2008-2016)” is to examine, how the bilateral relations of Latvia and Russia are framed in the ambassador’s messages to the Latvian and Russian speaking public. The Paper’s theoretical part is based on the definition of public diplomacy by Jan Melissen and the mediated public diplomacy approach by Robert Entman. Identification of the leading frames is based on the manual-holistic approach by Jörg Matthes. Author of the Paper has analysed the content of Latvia’s leading daily newspapers, published in Latvian and Russian, during a period of eight years to cover all A. Vesnyakov’s office time. The leading frames of the bilateral relationships of Latvia and Russia where identified with qualitative and quantitative content analysis. The most characteristic journalistic frames of the bilateral relationships of Latvia and Russia have been discovered using a survey of journalists

Diagnostic terminology for reporting thyroid fine needle aspiration cytology: European Federation of Cytology Societies thyroid working party symposium, Lisbon 2009.

A European Federation of Cytology Societies (EFCS) working party of 28 members from 14 European countries met at the European Congress of Cytology in Lisbon in September 2009, with two observers from the USA, to discuss the need for standardising thyroid FNA nomenclature in the light of the National Institute of Cancer (NCI) recommendations resulting from the State of the Science conference in Bethesda in 2007. The data were obtained through two questionnaires sent by email and a transcript of the live discussion at the congress, which is presented in full. The surveys and discussion showed that there were currently no national terminologies for reporting thyroid FNA in the different European countries except in Italy and the UK. Personal, 'local', surgical pathology and descriptive terminologies were in use. All but one of the working party members agreed that thyroid FNA reporting should be standardised. Whilst almost a third would adopt the NCI Bethesda terminology, which offers the advantages of a 'risk of cancer' correlation and is linked to clinical recommendations, more than half favoured a translation of local terminology as the first step towards a unified nomenclature, as has been done recently in the UK. There was some disagreement about the use of: a) the six-tiered as opposed to four or five-tiered systems, b) the use of an indeterminate category and c) the 'follicular neoplasm' category, which was felt by some participants not to be different from the 'suspicious of malignancy' category. The conclusions will be passed to the different national societies of cytology for discussion, who will be asked to map their local terminologies to the Bethesda classification, observe its acceptance by clinicians and audit its correlation with outcome
