The concise 1823 annual report provides the total number of baptisms, marriages and deaths of the Indian and Spanish population of the Mission, the magnitude of the native population (1,395), as well as information regarding the significant economic production of the Mission in cattle raising and agriculture: in 1823, for example, Santa Clara had 13,000 sheep and the main crop was wheat. The report was signed by Fathers Viader and Catalá, the most influential Franciscans of Mission Santa Clara
