We present a study of the magnetic properties of the Pr 0.5Sr 0.5xCa xMnO 3 manganite (x=0.1 and 0.2) in the temperature region where phase separation occurs. This state is characterized by the presence of ferromagnetic (FM) inclusions inside an antiferromagnetic (AFM) matrix. The evolution of the magnetization (M) with magnetic field shows the existence of a critical field, H C, above which M rapidly increases, indicating a sudden expansion of the FM volume against the AFM one. We analyze this behavior and the response of the magnetic susceptibility at low fields (HFil: Niebieskikwiat, Dario Gabriel. Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas; Argentina. Óxidos, nanoestructuras, nanomanipulación y respuesta eléctrica de nanoestructuras individuales

    No full text

    Get PDF
Fil: Niebieskikwiat, Dario Gabriel. Effects of oxygen non-stoichiometry on the physical properties of the YBaCo2 O5 + δ layered cobaltites

    Get PDF
We have synthesized the layered cobaltites YBaCo2 O5 + δ with different oxygen contents (δ1 and δ2), and characterized its structural and physical properties using various experimental techniques within the 80-500 K temperature range. Two superstructures have been identified due to the ordering of oxygen vacancies. One of them (corresponding to δ ≃ 0.50) shows a metal-insulator transition at room temperature, while both exhibit a sequence of magnetic transitions AFM-FM-PM as the temperature is increased. We have determined the second-order nature of the FM-PM magnetic transition using the Banerjee criterion. We also show that there exist intrinsic differences between both samples in terms of the charge carriers involved, which manifest in the transport properties.Fil: Aurelio, Gabriela. Oxygen vacancy doping effect on the electrical and magnetic behavior of Ba5-xLaxNb4-x TixO15

    Get PDF
We report electric and magnetic properties of oxygen deficient Ba5-xLaxNb4-x TixO15-δ phases, which have been prepared by solid-state reaction method followed by a controlled reduction process under hydrogen atmosphere. The extra electrons added by the formation of the oxygen vacancies (δ) introduce localized spins and the magnetic susceptibility can be described by a temperature-independent contribution and a Curie-Weiss term associated to the Ti3+ ion formation. Besides, the experimental resistivity (ρ) data of these four reduced compounds are well described in a wide temperature range with the equation ρ ≈ AT exp (B / T)- 1 / 4, which suggests the presence of small polarons in the system. Although, all samples present electrical insulating behavior, the electrical resistivity decreases four orders of magnitude for intermediate x values. We interpreted this fact as a consequence of the mix between the localized bands of the Nb and Ti ions, which favors the promotion of carriers due to reduction of the band gap.Fil: de Paoli, Juan Martin. Synthesis of Lanthanum nickelate perovskite nanotubes by using a template-inorganic precursor

    Get PDF
A new route to obtain metal oxide nanotubes is presented: an inorganic coordination complex precursor containing the metal ions and impregnated into alumina membrane templates yield hollow tubular nanostructures of LaNiO 3 by calcination at 600 °C as characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) shows that the resulting nanotubes have 200 nm in diameter in good agreement with the template pore. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and dark field transmission electron microscopy (DF-TEM) show that the nanotubes with 10-20 nm walls and internal separations are composed of 3-5 nm crystals.Fil: Tagliazucchi, Mario Eugenio. Magnetoresistance, temporal evolution, and relaxation of the electrical resistivity in the re-entrant semiconducting La0.80Ba0.20CoO3 perovskite

    Get PDF
We report here a study on the electrical and magnetic properties of La1-xBaxCoO3 in the re-entrant semiconducting region (x = 0.20). We find that in this material: (i) the insulator-metal-insulator sequence is unstable and evolves toward a purely semiconducting behavior; the initial ρ versus T curve can be reinstated upon appropriate annealing treatments; (ii) there are relaxation effects that can be seen by changing the polarity of the electrodes; (iii) there is a negative magnetoresistance Δρ/ρ approx. 2-3%, for a field as low as 9 kOe, especially at the metal-insulating transition temperatures; and (iv) there are important fluctuations in the electrical resistivity. Taking into account these experimental observations, we can interpret this material as an inhomogeneous system where two thermodynamic phases, one semiconducting and the other metallic and ferromagnetic, coexist, although they are crystallographically indistinguishable.Fil: Sanchez, Rodolfo Daniel. Effects of Cation Vacancies in the Phonon Raman Spectra of LaMnO3

    No full text
Raman spectra of La1–xMn1–xO3 (x = 0, 0.01, 0.017, 0.022, and 0.035) and La0.91–δMn1–δO3 polycrystalline samples, taken at T = 10 K and room temperature, are presented. All La1–xMn1–xO3 samples show at T = 10 K the presence of modes at about 480 and 610 cm–1, including the rhombohedral and quasi‐cubic orthorhombic samples. However, the Raman spectrum of the rhombohedral La0.91–δMn1–δO3 sample does not show these modes at T = 10 K, but presents weak and broad structures at T = 295 K. These results are discussed in terms of local structural distortions associated with Mn vacancies and/or carrier localization in manganese perovskites.Fil: Granado, E.. Effects of aging on the electrical resistivity of La1-xBxCoO3 perovskites (B = Sr, Ca, Ba; 0.20 ≤ x ≤ 0.30)

A study of the reliability of the title compounds as a basis for magnetoresistive sensors is presented. For this purpose we have carried out long-term systematic studies of the evolution of the resistive and magnetic properties of samples synthesized by both ceramic and wet chemical routes, allowing them to age during several months. It is observed that, although the magnetic properties remain unaltered, their resistivity does change appreciably. With time, samples that are initially metallic over all the measured temperature range (T < 300 K), change to semiconductor-like behaviour at low temperatures and above their ferromagnetic to paramagnetic phase transition temperature, giving rise to a 'reentrant semiconducting behaviour' with associated high electrical noise, relaxation effects of the resistivity and even diodic behaviour.Fil: Mira, J..
