Idolatria e monoteismo nel pensiero di Samuel David Luzzatto
Full text linkSamuel David Luzzatto (1800-1865), nel suo ruolo di docente presso il Collegio rabbinico di Padova, riflette sul rapporto tra idolatria e monoteismo, in particolare con le Lezioni di teologia morale israelitica e Lezioni di teologia dogmatica israelitica. In esse la rivelazione, che si aggiunge alla legge di natura comune a tutti gli uomini, si articola in precetti pratici e dogmi: la distinzione tra credenti ed idolatri si basa soprattutto sui primi e sul comportamento pratico degli esseri umani. L’azione moralmente retta, e il culto che le è connesso, sono però, secondo Luzzatto, fondati solo nel monoteismo, che il popolo di Israele ha il compito di portare nel mondo, affinché anche gli altri popoli abbandonino l’idolatria e si convertano, nel tempo, al vero Dio.

Samuel David Luzzatto (1800-1865), as professor at the Rabbinical College of Padua, reflects on the relationship between idolatry and monotheism, mainly in Lectures on jewish moral theology and Lectures on jewish dogmatic theology. In them revelation, which is added to the law of nature common to all men, is articulated in practical precepts and dogmas: the distinction between believers and idolaters is based above all on the first and on the practical behavior of human beings. However, according to Luzzatto, moral action, and worship connected with it, are founded only in monotheism, which the people of Israel have the task of bringing into the world, so that other peoples too abandon idolatry and are converted, in time, to the true God
