A new species of Carrhotus Thorell, 1891 (Araneae: Salticidae) from India
A new species of the jumping spider genus Carrhotus Thorell – Carrhotus piperus sp. nov. – is described based on the male holotype collected from Tamil Nadu, India. Detailed description and illustrations are provided. The new species can be separated from the closely related taxa by the prolateral protrusion of the bulb arising from an 8 o’clock position and directed dorsad, and the retrolaterally directed beak-shaped embolus. The number of known Carrhotus species reaches to 10 and 37 in India and in the world, respectively. A key to species of the genus Carrhotus from India is also presented
Android Application to Detect and Alert Tachycardia and Bradycardia using Pulse Rate Sensor
Heart rate monitoring is most vital in preventing disorders related to heart. Failure to
detect heart disorder in early stage may lead to death. The lacking of devices to
immediately detect the abnormalities in heart and alert the patients emergency contact
lead to this problem. In this report the author propose a system to detect two heart
disorders called Tachycardia and Bradycardia which are caused by abnormalities in
heart rate. The proposed system will consist of a pulse sensor which will be connected
to a smartphone via Bluetooth. The signal information which is processed by the
microcontroller will be sent to the mobile phone. An app created will send an alert to
the emergency contacts of the patients when Tachycardia or Bradycardia condition
has been detected by the sensor. This will increase the possibilities of giving
immediate treatment to the patient, and hope to reduce the death rate caused by heart
disorder

Self-Managing Work Teams: Enhancing Organizational Innovativeness
In this article, we explore the relationship between self-managed work teams and innovative behaviors they demonstrate from the socio-technical, social learning, and cognitive perspectives. Our specific argument is that self-managed work teams foster greater autonomy, increase communication among team members, and intensify their commitment to the team and the organization, which in turn enhances innovative behaviors in such teams. Extended pancreas donor program - the EXPAND study rationale and study protocol
BACKGROUND:
Simultaneous pancreas kidney transplantation (SPK), pancreas transplantation alone (PTA) or pancreas transplantation after kidney (PAK) are the only curative treatment options for patients with type 1 (juvenile) diabetes mellitus with or without impaired renal function. Unfortunately, transplant waiting lists for this indication are increasing because the current organ acceptability criteria are restrictive; morbidity and mortality significantly increase with time on the waitlist. Currently, only pancreas organs from donors younger than 50 years of age and with a body mass index (BMI) less than 30 are allocated for transplantation in the Eurotransplant (ET) area. To address this issue we designed a study to increase the available donor pool for these patients.
METHODS/DESIGN:
This study is a prospective, multicenter (20 German centers), single blinded, non-randomized, two armed trial comparing outcome after SPK, PTA or PAK between organs with the currently allowed donor criteria versus selected organs from donors with extended criteria. Extended donor criteria are defined as organs procured from donors with a BMI of 30 to 34 or a donor age between 50 and 60 years. Immunosuppression is generally standardized using induction therapy with Myfortic, tacrolimus and low dose steroids. In principle, all patients on the waitlist for primary SPK, PTA or PAK are eligible for the clinical trial when they consent to possibly receiving an extended donor criteria organ. Patients receiving an organ meeting the current standard criteria for pancreas allocation (control arm) are compared to those receiving extended criteria organ (study arm); patients are blinded for a follow-up period of one year. The combined primary endpoint is survival of the pancreas allograft and pancreas allograft function after three months, as an early relevant outcome parameter for pancreas transplantation.
DISCUSSION:
The EXPAND Study has been initiated to investigate the hypothesis that locally allocated extended criteria organs can be transplanted with similar results compared to the currently allowed standard ET organ allocation. If our study shows a favorable comparison to standard organ allocation criteria, the morbidity and mortality for patients waiting for transplantation could be reduced in the future.

Morpho-syntactic concept and contribution of Tholkaappiyar : a view from a different prism
The concept of morpho-syntax is defined as ‘the study of grammatical affixes or linguistic units that have both morphological and syntactic properties’. The author of Tholkaappiyam, the earliest written Tamil grammar of 300 B.C., explains this concept exhaustively in different chapters. This notion of modern Linguistics is to be added as one of the levels of language for research and teaching grammar as well. A per the author of the grammar, tense is a morpho-semantic feature, which is added to finite verbs. Tense marker attributes to the meaning of the sentence and not to the sentence structure. That was his concept and contribution to the field of Linguistics. Features like, metonymy, ambiguity, gerund formation, etc., in the grammar, support the concept proposed. Selected verses from Tholkaappiyam have been quoted for the sustenance of his view. Additionally, this article brings in another very important concept of ‘mid-fix’, which is a new contribution to the field
Effect of Tin Mining Waste as Sand Replacement on Flowability and Compressive Strength of Mortar
Environmental degradation due to excessive sand mining activity and tin tailing waste disposal from mining need to be resolved. Utilization of tin tailing as sand replacement in mortar production would cut amount of waste thrown and decrease river sand consumption. The current study examines the effect of tin tailing content sand replacement on flowability and strength of mortar. Five forms of mixes were produced using different percentage of tin tailing as fine aggregate replacement. Two types of tests were conducted namely flowability test and compressive strength test. The investigation discovers that blending tin tailing affects the flowability of mortar. Utilization of up to 30% tin tailing able to produce mortar with the targeted strength. Usage of high amount of tin tailing causes declination of mortar strength.
