Pregnancy is a specific period of women in which a woman\u27s body becomes accustomed to coexisting with a childat the same time, it is considered a period when the expectant mother must pay special attention to her health. In the first place, it is necessary to ensure the normal course of pregnancy, and at the same time the normal and healthy development of the fetus. This is where illegal drugs are exposed, the use of which affects the unborn child during pregnancy, as it causes the child\u27s addiction, which is terminated at birth. This means that as a result, the child develops a withdrawal crisis, which is manifested by various symptoms. Both theoretically and empirically, the following are most commonly exposed: irritable and inconsolable crying, tremor and tremors, failed sucking, unbalanced temperature, difficulty sleeping, eating, and breathing, cold symptoms. The long-term consequences that accompany a child over a longer period of life and the consequences that severely affect a child\u27s life have been found to be problematic. At this point, there is talk of brain damage, cessation of breathing, sudden death, as well as various types of infections. Based on empirical work, it is concluded that such acts are not prosecutedmoreover, it should not be a drastic problem. A number of unanswered questions remain open. Again, on the other hand, we have the answers, but they are unsatisfactory in terms of our results. The purpose is to draw attention to the problem of drug use in pregnancy, and we want to emphasize the under-emphasized rights of the unborn child

Prisons were and still are formed mainly according to men. Due to the fact that in recent years the number of women in prisons rose drastically, this presents a severe problem for convicted women. Women are disadvantaged, perhaps neglected in their specific particularities and needs that represent their vital role in prisons. In this thesis, eight features are highlighted, which largely affect convicted women, thus placing them at a distinct disadvantage compared to male prisoners. Attention is drawn to the following factors: pregnancy, maternity, prisons with children, lack of work, a longer distance from home, stigmatization and labeling, health of imprisoned women and prior victimization. While theoretically it is true that motherhood is the most risky and worrying factor, the practice of the Ig prison highlights the separate serving of sentences according to gender, which consequently means longer distance from home. Based on the studies performed in the Ig prison, the worse conditions of women in prison are primarily reflected in the lack of intimate rooms, single prison for all women prisoners, which results in longer distance of women prisoners from home, the joint serving of sentences for female prisoners, irrespective of the gravity of the offense committed and the length of sentences, and many others. Mrs. Glavica (personal interview, 04/30/2017) highlights the lack of space, either for visitors for a variety of security or personal checks, which also includes the lack of space in general. The works shows that the Ig prison represents an example of good practice, however, there is still a great need to change the system of punishment that would enable women to serve their sentences in a different and more convenient manner. The aim is to draw attention to the problems described which highlight the often overlooked factor – the punishment of women

    Author Meets Critics: Sandra Braman

    No full text
The publication of Sandra Braman’s Change of State signals the importance of the topic of information policy to the field of information studies. It also illustrates both the power and necessity of the kind of inter-disciplinary analysis that characterizes the field. This panel will provide an opportunity for both structured debate and lively discussion around Change of State and the important arguments it contains. Perhaps the most important one that it makes is that “trends in information policy both manifest and trigger change in the nature of governance itself.” That is, Braman points to how information flows have radically altered the nature of the traditional nation-state and its ability to exercise power (or fails to, as the case may be). Because of i-Schools’ strong connections with the professional world of information institutions, it is particularly important for graduates to understand the far-reaching implications of this argument. On a practical level, graduates need to become conversant with both the varied manifestations of information policy, and the mechanisms by which such policy is enacted. Change of State provides a highly useful synthesis of all the major debates in the field of information policy (including identity, immigration, innovation policy, etc.), organizing them into a comprehensive analytical framework, along with extensive bibliographic essays. The format of this session will involve each speaker presenting a 15 minute paper which will discuss Change of State from their own disciplinary perspective. Prof. Braman will then respond to the papers. The presentations will be followed by a question and answer period with the audience. The goal is to offer both structured debate around key arguments presented in the book, while offering an opportunity for the audience to interact with the speakers. The speakers are all leaders in the field, well-informed of Dr. Braman’s work, and chosen with the goal of maximizing disciplinary perspectives (Lievrouw: communication policy; Mueller: political science; Jackson: science and technology studies).Submitted by Heekyung Choi ([email protected]) on 2010-03-11T15:43:29Z No. of bitstreams: 1 WC2_iconf08.doc: 30720 bytes, checksum: d09645278c62b44efffefccf4a01bae8 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2010-03-11T15:43:29Z (GMT).
