Samara space in Dina Rubina's novel «Petrushka's syndrome»
No full textThis article is an experience of studying the structure and role of the «Samara text» in the novel «Petrushka's Syndrome» by Dina Rubina. The initial premise of this article is the author's conviction that it is space that appears in the named novel by Dina Rubina as a constructive principle of the literary work genre organization and the construction of an artistic semiosphere, through analysis of which the researcher can enter the sphere of meanings. The Samara space is not the only one in the novel and is included in a large and complex system of spaces formed by the «Lviv», «Prague», «Berlin», «Israeli» and «South Sakhalin» chapters, and each of these loci has its own artistic tasks and own meanings. At the same time, Samara appears in the novel as a very special space and semantic code formed by the Samara history, urban folklore, artistic and other texts, which together form an urban myth and urban text, and finally, perhaps, by Dina Rubina’s personal impressions, obviously well acquainted with Samara and the Samara residents. All these components of the «Samara text» form the Samara code, which is the focus of the article authors. The most thorough analysis in the article is one of the Samara mini-topos – Visi's apartment, which is the quintessence of the «Samara» life in the novel

No full textThe article examines the activities of the Governor Alexander Dmitrievich Sverbeev. The analysis of decisions of the governor and their practical implementation are presented. New facts of his official biography were reconstructed. The characteristics of Sverbeevs business quality and their influence on the management mechanism are given. The quantitative parameters of functioning of governors authority (the number of orders, the volume of correspondence, etc.) have been revealed. The role of the Samara governor in the struggle against the food crisis and the famine of 1891 is considered. The reasons for the transfer of A.S. Sverbeeva from the position of the Samara governor; the results of his reign are evaluated.</jats:p

Image of the Samara Volga region in the second half of the XIX – early XX century (based on the guidebooks and travel notes)
No full textThe article examines the problem of the image of Samara and the Samara region in the second half of the XIX early XX century, the face of Samara of that era, the brands of the city and the province. The author shows aspects of the sides of the image of the Samara Volga region, which were reflected and broadcast to the Russian reading public on the pages of guidebooks and essays of those times, but have not yet been covered by historians and local historians. Disclosure of these issues will allow us to judge what images of the past of the Samara Volga region existed in the Russian public consciousness of the post-reform period, what new brands of the region appeared by the beginning of the XX century. In the course of the study, the author revealed that, firstly, the images of the past region are associated mainly with the Volga freemen and the names of the famous Cossack atamans; secondly, a significant part of the brands of the Samara Volga region appeared already in the second half of the XIX early XX century: kumis therapy, large grain piers, etc. In this regard, the second suggests that the Samara Volga region in the post-reform era was only gaining its place on the mental map of Russian society
