Impact of human capital on the performance (quality of publications) of research institutes in India
The purpose of the paper is to see the impact of Knowledge, skills, Innovation & creative
ability and human capital as a whole on the quality of publications in research
institutions in India. The quality of publication is defined as number of SCI publications
in last five years and Knowledge, skills, Innovative &Creative Ability and human capital
is measured through a comprehensive research questionnaire on 5 point scale. The
responses from 119 scientists across various research institutions were collected and
analyzed using Structural Equation model. The results of the study show that Knowledge,
skills and Innovative and creative capability and human capital as a whole have a
positive significant impact on the quality of publications in India
The interplay of co-infections in shaping COVID-19 severity: Expanding the scope beyond SARS-CoV-2
High mortality has been reported in severe cases of COVID-19. Emerging reports suggested that the severity is not only due to SARS-CoV-2 infection, but also due to coinfections by other pathogens exhibiting symptoms like COVID-19. During the COVID-19 pandemic, simultaneous respiratory coinfections with various viral (Retroviridae, Flaviviridae, Orthomyxoviridae, and Picoviridae) and bacterial (Mycobacteriaceae, Mycoplasmataceae, Enterobacteriaceae and Helicobacteraceae) families have been observed. These pathogens intensify disease severity by potentially augmenting SARSCoV-2 replication, inflammation, and modulation of signaling pathways. Coinfection emerges as a critical determinant of COVID-19 severity, principally instigated by heightened pro-inflammatory cytokine levels, as cytokine storm. Thereby, in co-infection scenario, the severity is also driven by the modulation of inflammatory signaling pathways by both pathogens possibly associated with interleukin, interferon, and cell death exacerbating the severity. In the current review, we attempt to understand the role of co- infections by other pathogens and their involvement in the severity of COVID-19
Fungal metabolites as a natural source of herbicide: a novel approach of weed management: Ajay Kumar Singh* and Akhilesh Kumar Pandey Mycological Research Laboratory, Department of Biological Science Rani Durgawati University, Jabalpur-482001, Madhya Pradesh. Weeds are undesirable vegetation directly or indirectly inferring with human welfare. Conventional methods of weed control have failed due to one or other reason. Herbicide-resistant weeds are the main problem in weed control due to the number of weed biotypes resistant to herbicides that constantly increases by the continuous use of the same products for years. Development of alternative weed control methods is needed to help decrease reliance on herbicide use. Biological weed control is an alternative option for weed problems, particularly in agriculture and forestry. It is based on the use of natural enemies, particularly insects and pathogens to control weeds, as a sustainable, low cost and more environmentally acceptable method of weed control. One of the approaches to biological weed control using fungal phytotoxin applied in similar ways to conventional herbicides. Fungal phytotoxins are natural secondary metabolites produced by plant pathogenic fungi during host–pathogen interactions. They have received considerable particular attention for elucidating disease etiology, and consequently to design strategies for disease control. Due to wide differences in their chemical structures, these toxic metabolites have different ecological and environmental roles and mechanisms of action. This review aims at summarizing the studies on the possible use of fungal phytotoxin as a lucrative, novel source of secondary phytotoxic herbicidal compounds for management of broad spectrum, noxious and pernicious weeds

STRATEGIC ROLE OF HUMAN RESOURCE POLICIES AND PRACTICE IN ORGANISATION CHANGE
Human resource policies and strategies need to either evolve or revolutionize to keep up with the dynamic and growing Powerful Sector. As part of their reforms, the Indian government has separated the various companies responsible for making and selling ammunition and missile systems into their own distinct organizations. In most cases, the focus of the R&D efforts is on improving the processes of generating, transmitting, and distributing electricity. From the developer\u27s vantage point, manufacturing (or sourcing from manufacturers) is just as crucial as project development. These tasks all call for unique abilities. The focus of this study is on missiles and ammunition
Performance Analysis of Chirped Graded Photonic Crystal Resonator for Biosensing Applications
In this manuscript, a chirped graded photonic crystal (PhC) resonator structure is optimized for biosensing applications. The proposed structure comprises a bilayer PhC with an aqueous defect layer, where the thickness grading within the material is introduced, considering alpha (α) as a grading parameter. The device performance is analytically evaluated using the finite element method (FEM). The impact of α, the resonator thickness, and the incidence angle on the device performance is analyzed. Further, the device’s ability to be used as a biosensor is evaluated, considering cholesterol as an analyte. The analytical results demonstrate an average sensitivity of 410 nm/RIU, a quality factor of 0.91 × 103, and a figure of merit (FOM) of 2.47 × 102RIU−1, showing 88.5% and 43% improvements in sensitivity and FOM compared to recently reported devices. The device’s superior sensing performance makes it suitable for medical and commercial applications, while the use of thickness grading addresses fabrication limitations, offering a robust framework for advanced photonic device design
