Generators of the quantum finite W-algebras in type A
No full textWe prove a conjecture proposed in [A. De Sole, V. G. Kac and D. Valeri, Finite W-algebras for N, Adv. Math. 327 (2018) 173-224.] describing the Lax type operator L(z) for the quantum finite W-algebras of N in terms of a PBW generating system for the W-algebra. In doing so, we extend this result to an arbitrary good grading and an arbitrary isotropic subspace of [1 2]

No full textSin dai primi anni del suo regno, Carlo V si premurò di nominare degli storiografi ufficiali e di commissionare la stesura di una storia delle sue imprese.
Lo storico Paolo Giovio mostrò di nutrire molte aspettative nei confronti dell’imperatore e del suo ruolo politico in relazione alle drammatiche vicende occorse agli Stati italiani nella prima metà del Cinquecento, come si evince dall’epistolario e da numerosi passi delle Historiae. Ciò nonostante le Historiae di Giovio ricevettero presso la corte imperiale una fredda accoglienza e molte critiche.
Sebbene Carlo V non avesse concesso a Giovio particolari riconoscimenti riguardo alla sua attività di storiografo, le Historiae di Giovio furono molto rapidamente tradotte in castigliano e presentate in Spagna come una storia dell’età di Carlo V che, nonostante tutti gli sforzi del sovrano asburgo, non era stata ancora realizzata.From the early years of his reign, Charles V took care to appoint official historians and to commission the history of his exploits. Historian Paolo Giovio showed that he had many expectations of the Emperor and his political role in relation to the dramatic events that occurred in the Italian states during the first half of the sixteenth century, as can be seen from the correspondence and from numerous
passages in his Historiae. Nonetheless, Giovio’s Historiae got a cool reception and triggered
many criticisms from the imperial court. Although Charles V had not granted any particular acknowledgments to Giovio for his historiographical activity, Giovio’s Historiae were quickly translated into Castilian and presented in Spain as a history of the age of Charles V which , despite all the efforts of the Habsbourg ruler, had not yet been computed
W-algebras in type A and the Arakawa-Moreau conjecture
No full textW-algebras are an important class of vertex algebras associated with a reductive Lie algebra g, a nilpotent element f ∈ g and a scalar k ∈ C, which are closely related with various area of mathematics such as integrable systems, two-dimensional conformal field theories, modular representation theory, four dimensional gauge theory, and geometric Langlands program. Moreover, there has been a renewed interest in W-algebras since they appear as invariants of Argyres-Douglas theory via the 4D/2D correspondence recently discovered in physics. However, despite of the importance of W-algebras the problem of finding all the generators for every affine W-algebra remains unsolved. The only results known so far are from Kac-Wakimoto for minimal nilpotent elements, and from Arakawa-Molev for rectangular nilpotent elements, with the restriction of g = glN. In this thesis we obtained an explicit list of generators of W-algebras of type A associated with quasi-rectangular nilpotent elements. This is a nice generalization of the aforementioned results, since both are quasi-rectangular. Furthermore, as an application we were able to confirm a conjecture of Anne Moreau and Tomoyuki Arakawa in some cases on the isomorphism of simple quotients of W-algebras. This is a promising result since it confirms also some expectations by physicists that arose in the recent study of the 4D/2D correspondence

Use of Cocultures for the Study of Cellular Interactions Influencing B-Cell Regulatory Functions
No full textAlthough IL-10-producing B cells have been shown to play key roles in regulating immune responses involved in autoimmunity, inflammation, and cancer, the mechanisms at the base of the generation and maintenance of the pool of regulatory B cells are still poorly characterized. Several evidences show that the cross talk between B cells and other immune cell types promotes IL-10 production by B lymphocytes. Soluble mediators released into the microenvironment, together with direct cell-cell contact, are key signals in the process of regulatory B-cell development and differentiation. Here we describe the methods required to follow IL-10-producing B cells in MC- and MDSC-B-cell cocultures as examples of in vitro systems that induce the expansion of the regulatory B-cell population. These protocols can be also adapted for the study of other immune cell systems
Lettere diplomatiche e lettere familiari: alle origini dell’epistolario di Baldassarre Castiglione
No full textBaldassarre Castiglione (1478-1529), uno dei letterati cinquecenteschi più noti della penisola come autore del Libro del Cortegiano, ricoprì numerosi incarichi diplomatici: oratore dei marchesi di Mantova e poi dei duchi d’Urbino, infine nunzio in Spagna presso l’imperatore Carlo V tra il 1524 e il 1529, anno della sua morte. Nell’arco della sua vita e in virtù del suo ruolo di ambasciatore, Castiglione produsse un’ingente quantità di lettere che abbracciava un arco cronologico di oltre trent’anni (1497-1529). Si tratta di una fonte straordinaria, che costituisce una miniera di informazioni, di natura sia pubblica sia privata, e segue pressoché l’intera parabola biografica e professionale di un personaggio che attraversò, con ruoli da protagonista in ambito politico, culturale, artistico, alcuni decenni cruciali della storia dell’Italia e dell’Europa moderna.Questo articolo si propone di ricostruire la vicenda travagliata del progetto di pubblicazione dell’epistolario di Castiglione negli anni ’70-’80 del XVI secolo e di indagare le diverse ragioni del suo esito fallimentare tra interessi privati, esigenze morali e censure di Stato.Baldassarre Castiglione (1478-1529), one of the 16th-century best known man of letters and author of the Book of the Courtier, held many diplomatic posts: orator of the marquises of Mantua and later of the dukes of Urbino, and finally, nuntius in Spain to Emperor Charles V between 1524 and 1529, the year of his death. During his life and by virtue of his role as ambassador, Castiglione produced an enormous quantity of letters that spanned more than thirty years (1497-1529). This is an extraordinary source, a mine for both public and private information covering nearly the entire personal and professional trajectory of a figure who played a leading role in the fields of politics, culture and art during several decades in the history of Italy and modern Europe.The article aims to reconstruct the complicated story of the project to publish Castiglione’s correspondence during the 1570s and 1580s and the reasons why it failed, which included private interests, moral expectations and State censorship
