New performing GC columns with unmatched separation capabilities
Gas chromatography (GC) is widely used for qualitative and quantitative analysis in numerous fields, such as petroleum, chemical industry, agriculture, environmental protection, medicine, and so on, due to its high
versatility, high selectivity, simplicity of use, analysis speed, and low sample consumption. The column is the heart of a GC instrumentation, which allows the analyte separation and their recognition and quantification. Commercial columns do not always allow a complete peak separation when compounds (i.e., isomers) are very
similar in molecular weight, polarity, and vapor pressure. The choice of the correct stationary phase, with high selectivity towards target analytes, is the key to obtaining the required chromatographic separation and the subsequent qualitative and quantitative analysis.
Considering the rapid polymer science development and the growing demand for new columns with
improved resolution capabilities, in this work novel stationary phases for capillary GC have been designed, synthesized, and characterized in terms of polarity range, resolution, column efficiency, thermal stability, filmforming properties, and support-deactivating capacity1-5. The separation features of these novel stationary phases allow high-resolution performances for a wide range of compounds, like aromatic anilines, xylenes, aromatic amines, halogenated benzenes, and aromatic aldehydes, with marked capabilities toward isomer separations.References:

A Formal Model of Semantic Web Service Ontology (WSMO) Execution
Semantic Web Services have been one of the most significant research areas within the Semantic Web vision, and have been recognized as a promising technology that exhibits huge commercial potential. Current Semantic Web Service research focuses on defining models and languages for the semantic markup of all relevant aspects of services, which are accessible through a Web service interface. The Web Service Modelling Ontology (WSMO) is one of the most significant Semantic Web Service framework proposed to date. To support the standardization and tool support of WSMO, a formal semantics of the language is highly desirable. As there are a few variants of WSMO and it is still under development, the semantics of WSMO needs to be formally defined to facilitate easy reuse and future development. In this paper, we present a formal Object-Z semantics of WSMO. Different aspects of the language have been precisely defined within one unified framework. This model provides a formal unambiguous specification, which can be used to develop tools and facilitate future development

In situ construction of CoSe 2 @vertical-oriented graphene arrays as self-supporting electrodes for sodium-ion capacitors and electrocatalytic oxygen evolution
Transitional metal dichacogenides (TMDs) have stimulated an increasing research and technological attention due to their unique properties, holding great promise for emerging energy storage and conversion applications. However, tailorable and efficient synthesis of TMDs to garner the electrochemical and electrocatalytic performance of thus-derived electrodes has by far remained challenging. Herein we demonstrate a versatile synthetic strategy to in situ grow CoSe 2 @vertically-oriented graphene (VG) hierarchical architecture on carbon fiber cloth (CC) via combined steps of plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition and wet chemistry. Such self-supporting and flexible CoSe 2 @VG/CC arrays possess significant implications for pseudocapacitive Na storage and electrocatalytic O 2 evolution (OER). When evaluated as an anode material for sodium-ion hybrid capacitors, full cells comprising a CoSe 2 @VG/CC anode and AC cathode enable a favorable cyclic stability at 0.5 A g −1 for 1800 cycles in the potential range of 0.5–3.3 V, harvesting a high energy and power density of 116 Wh kg −1 and 7298 W kg −1 . In addition, CoSe 2 @VG/CC array also exhibits an excellent OER performance with a low overpotential of 418 mV and Tafel slope of 82 mV dec −1 on a basis of experimental exploration and theoretical simulation

Proof of a conjecture of Z-W Sun on ratio monotonicity
Abstract In this paper, we study the log-behavior of a new sequence { S n } n = 0 ∞ , which was defined by Z-W Sun. We find that the sequence is log-convex by using the interlacing method. Additionally, we consider ratio log-behavior of { S n } n = 0 ∞ and find the sequences { S n + 1 / S n } n = 0 ∞ and { S n n } n = 1 ∞ are log-concave. Our results give an affirmative answer to a conjecture of Z-W Sun on the ratio monotonicity of this new sequence

A Formal Semantic Model of the Semantic Web Service Ontology (WSMO)
Semantic Web Services, one of the most significant research areas within the Semantic Web vision, has attracted increasing attention from both the research community and industry. The Web Service Modelling Ontology (WSMO) has recently been proposed as an enabling framework for the total/partial automation of the tasks (e.g., discovery, selection, composition, mediation, execution, monitoring, etc.) involved in both intra- and inter-enterprise integration of Web Services. This model not only provides a formal unambiguous model which can be used to develop tools and facilitate future development, but as demonstrated in this paper, can be used to identify and eliminate errors presented in existing documentation
Analysis of ballistic capture in Sun–planet models
Analysis of ballistic capture orbits in Sun–planet systems is conducted in this paper. This mechanism utilizes purely gravitational forces, and may occur in non-Keplerian regimes. Ballistic capture orbits are generated by proper manipulation of sets of initial conditions that satisfy a simple definition of stability. Six Sun–planet systems are considered, including the inner planets, Jupiter, and Saturn. The role of planets orbital eccentricity, their true anomaly, and mass ratios is investigated. Moreover, the influence of the post-capture orbit in terms of inclination and orientation is also assessed. Analyses are performed from qualitative and quantitative perspective. The quality of capture orbits is measured by means of the stability index, whereas the capture ratio gives information on their statistical occurrence. Some underlying principles on the selection of the dynamical model, the initial true anomaly, and inclination are obtained. These provide a reference for practical cases
