Web Test Automation: Insights from the Grey Literature
This paper provides the results of a survey of the grey literature concerning best practices for end-to-end web test automation. We analyzed more than 2,400 sources (e.g., blog posts, white-papers, user manuals, GitHub repositories) looking for guidelines by IT professionals on how to develop and maintain web test code. Ultimately, we filtered 142 relevant documents from which we extracted a taxonomy of guidelines divided into technical tips (i.e., concerning the development, maintenance, and execution of web tests), and business-level tips (i.e, concerning the planning and management of testing teams, design, and process). The paper concludes by distilling the ten most cited best practices for developing good quality automated web tests
“VALLI DA PESCA” AND ECOSYSTEM SERVICES ASSESSMENT: A NEW PERSPECTIVE
The evaluation of ecosystem services (ES) has been proven to be an effective method to highlight
natural capital and its contribution to human well-being. Notwithstanding the studies about the
ES provided by transitional water environments are numerous, data about the assessment of ES in
the Venice lagoon are scarce and mainly focused on just one single ecosystem service at once.
Recently, as part of the project Venezia 2021, a new perspective has started to be developed,
which will quantify both the potential capacity of the lagoon to provide ES and the actual flow of
them from the environment towards the human society.
The present analysis aims to apply the same perspective to evaluate ES provided by the “valli da
pesca”, which are enclosed fishing ponds typically located in the Venice lagoon.
These environments, albeit very similar to the natural lagoon ecosystem, could be considered
“anthropic environments”: they were created centuries ago by local populations and are
completely depending on human actions, both in terms of physical maintenance and functioning
(e.g. regulation of fresh and saltwater flows). All this imitates the functioning of the real lagoon
ecosystem, aimed to maximize the exploitation of fish and birds. Fishing and hunting activities
represent two of the main ES provided by transitional water environments and here we indagate
how their maximization could influence other ES, either the regulating and cultural ones.
Furthermore, thanks to the multiple ES approach, a preliminary analysis to individuate the link
between the structure of the environment, its ecological status, and its capability to provide ES will
be suggested
Adaptive Islanded Configuration for Quality Improvement in Power Delivery Systems with Distributed Generation
The use of decentralized electrical energy resources may be a useful support to the main power supply. In particular, in the event of an upstream supply outage, the temporary islanding operation of dispersed generators in distribution networks might greatly improve the quality and continuity of the power supply. The aim of this work is to verify the feasibility of temporary grid- disconnected operation of self-adaptive autonomous portions of distribution networks that use embedded generators. In particular intentional islanding of generation and loads is automatically carried out with an adaptive configuration that depends on the local generation/load state at the time of outage

As the process of deregulation of the electric utility industry proceeds, the importance of power quality is increasing. A fundamental aspect of power quality is the continuity of power supply that is the absence of momentary, temporary and sustained power interruptions. In this paper a network reconfiguration strategy is proposed which allows the distribution network to separate into a certain number of autonomous islands, supplied by local distributed generation, in case of permanent fault within the grid. Intentional islanding of portions of the grid is automatically carried out with an adaptive network reconfiguration depending upon the local generation/load state at the time of outage
AI-based test automation: A grey literature analysis
This paper provides the results of a survey of the grey literature concerning the use of artificial intelligence to improve test automation practices. We surveyed more than 1, 200 sources of grey literature (e.g., blogs, white-papers, user manuals, StackOverflow posts) looking for highlights by professionals on how AI is adopted to aid the development and evolution of test code. Ultimately, we filtered 136 relevant documents from which we extracted a taxonomy of problems that AI aims to tackle, along with a taxonomy of AI-enabled solutions to such problems. Manual code development and automated test generation are the most cited problem and solution, respectively. The paper concludes by distilling the six most prevalent tools on the market, along with think-aloud reflections about the current and future status of artificial intelligence for test automation
