Potenzialità e limiti dell’approccio computazionale per il progetto di pali e diaframmi energetici
No full textI dati sul consumo energetico dimostrano che oggi il settore dell’edilizia necessita ancora di adeguati investi-menti, per non ritardare il processo della transizione energetica in ambito urbano. Le geostrutture energetiche, ovvero strutture interrate di fondazione o di sostegno nel cui interno viene annegato uno scambiatore di calo-re, rappresentano una soluzione efficace per lo sfruttamento del terreno, visto come serbatoio termico, nel condizionamento di edifici e infrastrutture. La risposta del sistema dipende dall’interazione termica fra il flui-do scambiatore, la struttura e il terreno, e tale interazione è a sua volta responsabile di sollecitazioni termo-meccaniche aggiuntive. Con riferimento a pali e diaframmi energetici, si mostra come un approccio computa-zionale possa rispondere in modo accurato ai quesiti posti sull’efficienza energetica e sulla risposta meccani-ca, sottolineando al tempo stesso l’importanza di una descrizione realistica delle condizioni di lavoro del si-stema, fra cui le condizioni di sollecitazione termica e di vincolo cinematico della struttura
Seepage and stability analyses of a zoned earth dam subjected to variable water heads: numerical simulations with Abaqus
No full textThe behaviour of a zoned earthen dam is analysed by means of a finite element model implemented in Abaqus. The analysed dam was built in Slovenia at the end of the 1980s for irrigation and flood protection purposes. In 2007, detection of a wet stain on the downstream slope forced the drawdown of the reservoir to carry out remedial works. Transient fully coupled hydro-mechanical analyses under partially saturated conditions have been conducted to investigate the behaviour of the dam from its construction to present. Available in-situ measurements have been exploited to calibrate the model and to assess the reliability of the predictions. To address the effects of the wet stain and of the remedial works on the dam body, stability analyses have been performed at significant times. Future scenarios have been analysed, using provided information on the time schedule of the reservoir impounding after completion of the remedial works. The results show that the high pore water pressures measured inside the dam body may be explained by damage experienced by the irrigation pipelines and that remedial works are necessary to restore the dam functionality
A Multi-Language Comparison of Influences on Author Verification using Character N-Grams
No full textWe create a new multi-language corpus for author verification based on Wikipedia talkpages, and evaluate the influence that differences in topic and time have on character n-gram author profiles.
