Effect of salinity and temperature on feeding physiology and scope for growth of an invasive species (Brachidontes pharaonis - MOLLUSCA: BIVALVIA) within the Mediterranean Sea

    No full text
The Indo-Pacific mytilid Brachidontes pharaonis (Bivalvia, Fischer 1870) offers an excellent model for the study of “Lessepsian migration” and the successive colonization at new Mediterranean locations. This species in out competing indigenous bivalves is particularly well adapted to Mediterranean conditions and this is likely due to biological characteristics and physio-ecological plasticity. In the present paper, we report on clearance rate (CR), respiration rate (RR) and Scope for Growth (SFG) of B. pharaonis collected from a Western Sicilian pond (Southern Tyrrhenian, MED). Physiological variables were determined in response to a range of temperatures from 11 ° to 20 °C and a broad range of salinities from 15 to 60 psu. Salinity and temperature had a significant influence on CR of B. pharaonis as therewas a general reduction in CR with a decline in temperature from 20 °C to 11 °C and declining salinity from 37 to 15 psu. RR showed a general temperature dependent relationship with highest RR at 20 °C. SFG showed negative values at lowest salinity of 15 psu at all tested temperatures. SFG values were generally the highest at 45 psu (at 11 °C and 20 °C), although SFG showed a maximum at 37 psu at 15 °C. SFG values were positive over the broadest range of salinities (25 to 60 psu) at 20 °C. The plasticity of the physiological rates demonstrated that B. pharaonis had the capacity to maintain positive SFG and tolerate a wide range of temperature/salinity conditions. Possible implications of high physiological plasticity of B. pharaonis in competing against indigenous bivalves are discussed

Pengembangan Website untuk Pembaruan Media Informasi dan Promosi FJ Studio Bandung dengan memanfaatkan Google Sites

FJ Studio is a women's fitness studio located in Bandung. The problem is, since its establishment in 2018, FJ Studio has relied solely on word-of-mouth promotion and through the Instagram account of a local influencer. The promotional methods used are deemed ineffective; furthermore, the cost of the influencer is considered high. Therefore, to make FJ Studio's promotions more effective and cost-efficient, we, as a community service team from the Faculty of Informatics, Telkom University, developed a website to serve as an informational and promotional platform for FJ Studio. Due to the limited personnel at FJ Studio, ease of website management was prioritized. We utilized the Google Sites framework for the development of the FJ Studio website, which can be easily managed online and offers various practical and user-friendly content management features. We conducted training sessions for the owners and staff of FJ Studio to introduce them to the website management environment so that they can use and update it regularly.FJ Studio merupakan studio kebugaran khusus wanita yang berlokasi di Bandung.

Group membership and staff turnover affect outcomes in group CBT for persistent pain

    No full text
The effects of two contextual factors, group membership and staff turnover, on the outcome of group cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for persistent pain were investigated. The data came from end of treatment and one month follow-up assessments of 3050 individuals who attended an intensive group programme over sixteen years. Intraclass correlations (ICC) showed significant intragroup effects on self-efficacy (ICC = 0.16 at end of treatment; 0.12 at one month), catastrophizing (ICC = 0.06; 0.13) and distance walked (ICC = 0.20; 0.19). This underlines the importance of modelling group membership when analyzing data from group interventions. Linear regression showed that high periods of staff turnover were significantly related to poorer outcomes on self-efficacy and distance walked at end of treatment, with the effect on self-efficacy persisting to one month follow-up. Having demonstrated significant contextual effects in an existing data set, further research is needed to explore the mechanisms by which these effects operate
