    Domenico Spinosa, Not only Movie: Kracauer’s Reading of Troeltsch and Weber at the Time of the Wissenschaftskrisis. Preliminary Note on a Case Study. This paper aims to present the main aspects of Kracauer’s critical perspectives as reader of Troeltsch and Weber during the bitter years of the controversy around the Wissenschaftskrisis. Taking as a starting point his early short writings on cinema and some pregnant themes from his "Soziologie als Wissenschaft" (1922), attention is then turned to the 1923 article in which Kracauer reviews both Troeltsch’s first volume, "Der Historismus und seine Probleme" (1922), and Weber’s "Gesammelte Aufsätze zur Wissenschaftslehre". (1922). It is occasion for Kracauer to discuss in particular the role of historical science and sociology, understood as empirical sciences, in the face of the dilemma, in his view insurmountable, of their universal validity and the inevitable risk of being ascribed to relativism

    Domenico Spinosa, The Question of Art between Philosophy of Values and Kulturkritik. On some Writings by Jonas Cohn published in the early Years of the Great War (1914-1916) This contribution proposal intends to reconstruct and then examine the reflections that Jonas Cohn elaborates in both the aesthetic spheres in the crucial time span that goes from 1914 to 1916. As is well known, the Great War represents a situation exceptional that causes a sort of interruption and traumatic bewilderment destined to profoundly change the neo-Kantian philosophical context and to initiate from within it processes of revision of predominant themes and directions already consolidated over time towards a considerable arrangement of new orientations. In this scenario, Cohn takes a position by recovering the theme dear to him of aesthetics (in fact in 1901 – it is worth remembering – he was the author of an Allgemeine Ästhetik which remains – it can be peacefully affirmed – the first systematic work on the theme of the school of Baden) also and above all related to issues related to the religious. Also for Cohn the foundational plane of reference on which he argues these positions is that of the “critique of culture” to which the author will also dedicate an important monograph as early as 1914. This will also be an opportunity for the author to return to rethinking the notion of value in the light of the changed historical-epochal situation that sanctions the decline of the belle époque

    On the one hand, the present work aims to trace some of the most salient moments concerning the reflections in the aesthetic field that mature within the problematic horizon of the thought of Hermann Cohen and Ernst Cassirer, two of the most representative figures of German Neocriticism, and on the other hand to identify the way in which the different positions are situating themselves and changing, through their particularly significant developments, in the evolution of the thought of the authors examined, especially in their close comparisons with the philosophy of Kant. Specifically, the task and the goal that we are given here are to investigate the peculiarity of the relationship between the transcendental a priori and the problem of experience, reaching the determination of the particular-manifold and the definition of the epistemological norms of Sciences of Life thanks to which unravels the crucial passage of Neocriticism from the "Critique of Reason" to the "Critique of Culture". This way allows Cohen and Cassirer to rethink the transcendental a priori in its correspondence to life and in its direction towards the concrete-manifold

In a problematic horizon defined on the one hand by Walter Benjamin’s reflections on the profound functional variation of the aesthetic experience for modern man, on the other hand by the valuations of Karl Jaspers on the epochal contribution of technology in terms of a new philosophy of history, here we finally propose to take into consideration the neo-Kantian reflections on the theme in question advanced by Ernst Cassirer in terms of a critique of cultur

    Ampia e approfondita biografia storico-critica del pittore Domenico Spinosa (Napoli, 1916 - 2007), corredata da una bibliografia essenziale. Si ripercorrono la storia e l'opera dell'artista nel loro insieme, dagli esordi negli anni Quaranta fino all'inizio del Duemila. Nel corso degli anni Cinquanta il suo linguaggio pittorico si volge verso un'astrazione informale di matrice impressionistica, in cui l'eco del mondo naturale non viene mai completamente meno, trasfigurandosi nelle modulazioni di una ricca sostanza cromatico-materica intrisa di luminescenze mediterranee. Al principio degli anni Sessanta si assiste in alcune opere a un intervento formativo del segno, che incide nel magma materico astraenti ed evanescenti profili di oggetti quotidiani oppure di insetti. Negli anni successivi la ricerca di Spinosa è rimasta sostanzialmente fedele a sé stessa, sviluppando ulteriormente le possibilità del linguaggio informale
